This was something new and the information about the facility that human had built was still very limited, not to mention it was so hard to get close to that place because the security around it was crazy.
If one of the shifter didn’t manage to escape from that place, they wouldn’t know about it until now and the facility would still be a mystery for them, until it was too late for them to do anything and the human would have an upper hand against the shifter.
“It has nothing to do with me. What should I do with it?” Silas crossed his arms, staring at Kean and Archie. “Look, I am not even part of the shifter anymore.”
Silas didn’t mean it to sound bitter, but he was only telling them the truth. He was not part of the shifter, thus what he was going to do with this information?
As cruel as it might sound, he didn’t care to those shifters, who had been kidnaped or whatever when he had a bigger issue that he had to deal with.
He still couldn’t wrap his mind how he agreed to Hazel’s suggestion to keep the baby. It was subtle and probably Hazel was trying to hide it because she didn’t want to make Silas worried, but he could see the decline in her health. She was sleeping most of the time and felt tired.
“Yes, we know about that and we have told alpha Karell regarding your position here,” Archie said. “But, he insisted to let you know. Probably, this is a warning for you too.”
“And then?” Silas knew there was a continuation from here.
Kean and Archie looked at each other. Silas was right. They were here not only to warn him, but also to relay the message from the supreme alpha.
“Alpha Karell will nullify your punishment as long as you will be part of the Shadow Warrior. He wanted you to be the leader of the Shadow Warrior.” This time, it was Kean, who told him about it.
“And what is it this Shadow Warrior?” Silas felt the headache. He didn’t mean to be rude, but he would have kicked the two of them out if it was someone else, who came to his door at this time.
“Alpha Karell has a meeting with the other alphas from all the pack and each of them agreed to send two of their best warriors as part of the Shadow Warrior and… they agreed the best person to fill the role of the leader is you.”
Silas raised his brows. “And what this Shadow Warrior will do?”
“Basically, you will find all the information about the facility that the human has built and infiltrate the place if it’s possible.” Kean shook his head. “I know this sounds crazy. I will not believe the human has gone this far after knowing out identity, but this is our situation right now.”
This was why their highest rule was to keep their existence secret from human, because they had lived among them for long to know how greedy they could be and needless to say, the number of the shifters in all over the realm couldn’t be compared to the number of human. They were outnumbered greatly when it came to this.
“Wow, so now I am hired?” Silas’s word dripped with sarcasm. “When they didn’t need me, they banished me from the shifter world and now they wanted to give me a cozy role? No, thanks.”
Kean raised both of his hands in surrender gesture. “I don’t agree with that. Both of us chewed alpha Karell out when we heard that suggestion.
“The other alphas were not comfortable with the idea either,” Archie added. “Mostly because they felt embarrassed to get you back after they agreed with the punishment.

No wonder alpha Sam didn’t say anything to Silas when he met him the last time. He didn’t even mention about the fact that human had known about their existence.
“I know this is not ideal for you and we disagreed with alpha Karell, but he is still the Supreme Alpha, thus we couldn’t refuse to come here and inform you about it.” Kean then added. “And I think you will not be surprise to see him knocked at your door if you rejected the plan.” Kean shrugged his shoulders. “Just saying. You know how alpha Karell is.”
“He should lead that on his own if he wanted to do it so bad,” Silas growled. He rubbed his face in frustration. Of course, Karell would come to him if he didn’t get the answer that he wanted. “I don’t see the benefit to be part of the shifter world.”
Kean and Archie grimaced. It sounded like Silas hated them.
In the end, the two of them left the apartment late at night, it was almost morning when they finally wrapped up their conversation and talked some trivial things here and there.
It felt like in the past again. Archie would be willingly stepping down from his role as the alpha if Silas could step in again. He didn’t really enjoy it, but stayed because this was his responsibility.
“Congratulation for the baby,” Kean said and Silas only nodded.
“You can call us anytime if you need us, you know,” Archie added. “There is no need for anyone to know about this.”
“Yeah, you can call us for babysit.” Kean grinned.
It would be nice if Silas could call them for babysitting, but he feared there was no baby to be babysat in the end.
But, he didn’t say anything about that.
Once they left, Silas went to the bedroom and watch Hazel was sleeping soundly, her lips were slightly ajar and she looked so cute when she curled herself with her hair scattered on the pillow.
Even when the world went crazy right now, she was the only thing that could keep Silas sane.
