Chapter 125
Hazel didn’t mean it in that way. She didn’t know why she said it like that, but she simply couldn’t think clearly, she only wanted Silas to give it a try first before he gave up to their baby.
They had talked about this before, about their future together with the baby and suddenly, he dropped the bomb that they should abort the baby? That they couldn’t do anything about it? That’s nonsense.
Hazel felt fine, even though Silas said her health would deteriorate soon, but she was fine right now, thus there was no reason not to give it a try.
“Silas…” Hazel softened her voice, she wiped her tears and grabbed his hand tightly. “Please, Silas… if something wrong… I will not have any objection.”
If something really went wrong, Hazel was willing to go through what Silas suggested. She didn’t want to die too, but it felt unfair not to give it a chance for their baby to at least try this.
Silas didn’t answer her immediately, he was deep in thought. He wanted to reject the idea, but the look on Hazel’s eyes and also there was this small hope in his heart that everything might be alright… He didn’t know why he felt that way, but he really wished there was a hope here.
He prayed more than anyone that Hazel was right, that everything would be alright in the end.
“There’s never been a case like this before, which meant, no one knew the final result yet, right?” Hazel said softly, trying to sway Silas again. “If the baby is strong, it meant there is a chance that I can be strong too, right? After all, I am the mother. I survive the mark that you gave to me, I will survive this too, Silas.”
The last statement did it for Silas. Hazel indeed survived his mark and it could be said as dangerous as carrying the baby… in that case…
Hazel knew when exactly she won this battle, as she hugged Silas tightly, even though he didn’t say anything, but she knew that he had relented.
“I promise I will be fine, Silas. I promise me and the baby will be fine. After all, you are here with me, right? You are here to protect the two of us.” Hazel hugged her tightly, she kissed his cheek and rested her head on his shoulder.
For a moment, Silas didn’t react. He stayed like a statue, he didn’t reciprocate the hug or the kiss, but Hazel was being very patient, as she waited for him to come around.
And she was right, Silas eventually raised his arms and encircled them around her body, he breathed deeply and kissed her neck. The lycan closed his eyes to savor the presence of his mate.
“I am afraid, Hazel,” Silas admitted. It was not easy to admit something like that and take a great courage for him to even say it out loud for her to hear. He was being very vulnerable right now. He looked very fragile. “I don’t want to lose you.”
“You are not going to lose me, Silas. I promise you. Me and the baby will be strong.” Hazel couldn’t describe the happiness that she felt right in this moment. She wanted to stay in his arms like this forever.
At this point, she straddled him and nestled against his chest, while Silas caressed her back and occasionally kissed her head, playing with her hair, as he leaned his back against the wall.
Meanwhile, outside, the sky had turned dark and rain started to fall. It was a peaceful moment, especially after the hard conversation they had earlier.
Do you want to eat something?” Silas finally asked, remembering that Hazel had been eating less because of their fight and now, he felt so bad because he made things even more difficult for her because of his recklessness.
“I am fine.”

Chapter 125
“No. What do you want to eat?” Silas didn’t want her to refuse. “You said it yourself that you will take care of yourself.”
Hazel wanted to say that she was not really hungry, but she knew Silas better that he wouldn’t back down from this.
“I want something light and warm.” Hazel gave some thought. “I want chicken soup.”
88%1
“Okay.” Silas nodded and then started to move her body away from him, so he could start to cook the chicken soup for her, but Hazel tightened her arms around his neck, didn’t allow him to move.
“Do you love me?” Hazel asked. Their fight earlier had left her exhausted and she wanted reassurance that he didn’t hate her for what she did. “Did I annoy you?”
“I love you more than my life,” Silas said. He kissed her head. “And yes, you annoyed me.”
Hazel chuckled when he heard the last statement. She knew that she was being annoying, but she could accept that because Silas loved her.
“Thank you.”
Thank you for compromising and everything that he had done for her. She wanted to say everything that she was grateful for, but it would take days.
“Thank you.” Silas simply replied and then kissed her forehead again, this time, Hazel let him go and moved to the side, letting Silas to go to the kitchen and cook her chicken soup.
Later that night, Silas slept next to her.
And while Hazel was sleeping peacefully, Silas couldn’t help, but would wake up every now and then to check whether or not she was breathing.
It was silly, but his anxiety had hit the roof.
Only when he was sure that she was breathing that he could sleep again.
“Please, be well. Please, don’t let anything happen…” Silas prayed, he kissed Hazel and hugged her a little bit tighter.
It was when the sun almost appeared behind the horizon that Silas could finally fall asleep. He dreamed of his childhood with Cielle.
The moment when they were little.
