In front of Joyce Albert stood Dicky Johnson, whose origins were unknown. She was momentarily taken aback and asked in a formal tone, “May I inquire as to why you are here?”
Dicky chuckled awkwardly and replied, “Well, you see, Miss. Claire’s documents were misplaced in my office, and I just found them. So, I asked Alicia to go home on her own and came to the hotel to deliver these documents to you.” Pausing for a moment, Dicky looked into Joyce’s eyes, which were filled with a sense of urgency. “Furthermore, I remembered that today is your birthday, and I realized that you haven’t caten yet. So…”
Joyce’s mind was preoccupied with the man who had been pursuing her. She paid little attention to Dicky’s words, only vaguely catching the mention of food.
In order to avoid Wilson and extinguish any remaining feelings, Joyce didn’t hesitate. She took Dicky’s arm and said formally, “Very well, let us dine together. With that, she led Dicky forward, holding onto his
arm.
Wilson, who had been chasing after her, suddenly halted. His cold gaze fixated on the hand holding Dicky’s arm.
As Joyce bravely rejected her feelings and clung to another man’s arm, even if it was her ex–boyfriend’s, Wilson felt a chill envelop his entire being. He yearned to rush over and separate the two, but he suppressed the impulse and took a deep breath instead.
He then turned around and calmly returned to his hotel room.
Meanwhile, Joyce, who had distanced herself from Wilson, breathed a sigh of relief. She completely forgot about the intimate gesture she had made with Dicky.
Dicky looked at her with a complex expression, his gaze fixated on the hand on his arm. He couldn’t believe it, but his heart felt something it had never felt before.
“Joyce, where would you like to eat?” Dicky smiled and initiated a conversation, his eyes fixed on her warm
face.
“It’s up to you.” Joyce had regained her composure. She noticed that she had been tightly holding onto Dicky’s arm and immediately withdrew her hand as if shocked. “I apologize, I didn’t mean to…”
“It’s alright.” Dicky smiled, feeling a sense of emptiness in his shoulders. It made him slightly uncomfortable. “I recall that you used to enjoy holding onto me like this. I suddenly remembered that memory.”
Observing the man’s earnest recollection, Joyce subtly furrowed her brows, a hint of disdain in her heart.
Yes, she used to walk hand in hand with Dicky through the city, proudly displaying to everyone that she had a good boyfriend like him. But at that time, Dicky probably didn’t think so, and it seemed he didn’t appreciate her holding his hand. Back then, Joyce considered him shy, but now she realized that it wasn’t for that reason. Dicky wanted to break free from her grasp!
Why was he reminiscing about that moment now, when she had become more beautiful? That man was truly wicked…
Joyce smirked cynically, fortunately, the night was quiet, and Dicky didn’t see her smile.

“Or perhaps I can take you to a Italian restaurant. It has a pleasant ambiance, full of character, and the food is delicious. I often dine there with my colleagues…” Dicky coughed twice, interrupting himself. “I mean, I frequently go there for meals with my coworkers.”
Although Dicky corrected himself promptly, Joyce still heard the mention of “coworkers” and couldn’t help but sncer inwardly.
“Alright, let’s go to that restaurant then,” Joyce nodded in agreement. Suddenly, a mischievous thought crossed her mind.
Seeing Joyce’s approval, Dicky immediately brightened his smile. He then escorted Joyce to his car, opening the passenger door for her. After she sat down, he walked around to the driver’s seat, stepped on the gas pedal, and the car set off.
True to Dicky’s words, he took Joyce to a characterful restaurant. It offered a panoramic view of the surrounding area, allowing them to see the entire city from a 360–degree angle. Joyce was captivated by the beautiful cityscape.
Not only that, but there was also a pianist playing in the corner of the restaurant. The melodic tunes of the piano enhanced the dining atmosphere, bringing a sense of tranquility.
This helped calm Joyce, who had been previously agitated. She tried to ignore the chaotic thoughts caused by Wilson’s confession of love earlier that day. Instead, she focused on the peace brought by the piano’s melodies.
Throughout the meal, Dicky engaged in conversation with Joyce, and she reciprocated with a smile, suppressing her animosity towards him.
“Joyce, I need to use the restroom. Please continue eating at your own pace.” As their meal neared its end, Dicky suddenly stood up, apologized, and addressed Joyce. He then walked towards the restroom.
Joyce watched as Dicky left. The warmth in her eyes gradually faded, and her smiling lips slowly turned downwards, revealing an expression of indifference.
Being alone with someone she despised, even going out with him, was truly unpleasant.
Just as Joyce’s thoughts wandered, several uniformed waitstaff pushed a cart with a cake towards her, singing a birthday song as they approached.
“Joyce, happy birthday.” After the song ended, Dicky emerged from behind the waitstaff, smiling at Joyce.
Joyce was taken aback by the scene before her. She was momentarily stunned and slowly opened her mouth. Dicky actually remembered her birthday?
It was truly absurd. When she was his girlfriend, he never put in the effort or spent money on such gestures. And now, after they had broken up, he suddenly remembered and made an effort.
This man, truly….
At that moment, Joyce wanted to ask Dicky, but she held back the question. She forced a smile and said formally, “Thank you. I didn’t expect you to remember my birthday.”
Dicky scratched his head awkwardly and replied, “Actually, I always remembered It’s just that, well, you know, being a manager at Damian Company is demanding, and I didn’t intend to be so rushed about it.”

Joyce looked at Dicky, finding him as amusing as a clown. The look in her eyes revealed her disdain for his behavior. She didn’t know how to respond. In the past, he might have been delighted by Dicky’s sweet words and believed him. But now, after experiencing betrayal and being abandoned by him, she no longer trusted his words.
After a moment of silence, Joyce smiled and said, “Dicky, it’s rare for you to show such thoughtfulness. I’m truly touched. Perhaps… we should take a photo together at this restaurant as a memento”
