Thorne collapsed in his workshop, the truth crushing him like mountain stone. So many of his “brilliant” innovations had been quietly guided by Soren’s knowledge. Their friendship had run so deep that Soren had helped from the shadows, letting Thorne take the glory.
He buried his face in his hands, his wolf howling in despair. What had he done? He’d destroyed everything with his own claws!

Where’s the payment?” Silvana burst into his workshop demanding compensation. The dead wolf’s pack was going mad with grief, their rage barely contained by the Pack Council: Without blood price paid soon, she feared becoming their next victim.
“It’s gone. Everything’s gone!”
Silvana yanked his hands away, freezing at the sight of his tears. After hearing the truth, her fear turned to fury.
“Useless!” she spat. “Weak Alpha! I should never have chosen you!”
She raged through his workshop, destroying his artifacts, cursing his bloodline. When she grabbed his throat with her claws, something in Thorne snapped.
Without his Alpha control, he struck her. Silvana crumpled among the shattered crystals, her false silver sickness suddenly becoming very real.
