Chapter 19
“That Alpha who disrupted his own mating ceremony?” Sarah asked casually, opening her
WolfGram feed.
Breaking news caught her attention: “Photos Emerge: The She–Wolf Who Captured Alpha
Sullivan’s Heart.”
She tapped to enlarge the image, then froze. The student ID showed a younger woman with
shoulder–length dark hair and refined features that seemed almost ethereal. Most striking
was the distinctive beauty mark near her eye, lending her an air of mysterious elegance.
Sarah stared at the photo, then slowly turned to study Iris. The resemblance wasn’t just
close – it was exact, down to the placement of that telling mark.
Sensing Sarah’s intense gaze, Iris looked up. “Something wrong?”
After a moment’s hesitation, Sarah opted for directness. “The North Ridge Territory media
just released photos of Alpha Sullivan’s intended mate. She… she could be your twin, Iris. Is
there a connection?”
Iris’s expression crystallized.
The pieces clicked – Reed’s public spectacle was a calculated move to draw her out.
Something twisted in her chest as she studied her old academy photo on Sarah’s screen.
Though years had passed and her features had softened, the connection was undeniable.
After a weighted silence, Iris chose truth. “It’s me. Reed was my former mate–to–be. Aftere…. everything fell apart, I changed my name and crossed territories.”
Sarah’s eyes widened. “If the bond was broken, why create such chaos? He’s threatening
your new life!”
!
fris nodded wearily. “It will cause complications, but Lunaris is far from North Ridge
influence.”

“He orchestrated this media storm to track you.” Sarah’s expression darkened. “This story’s reaching every territory – other students might recognize you. We need a plan.”
Though it was her greatest fear, seeing Sarah’s genuine concern, Iris forced a smile. “He doesn’t know about my new identity or that I’ve left the country. I’ll be cautious, keep a low
profile.”
“Take my cap,” Sarah insisted, offering her favorite accessory. “Every bit of coverage helps.”
Iris tried lightening the mood. “He’s just a former mate. No need for such precaution.”
An Alpha who’d go feral at his own mating ceremony isn’t stable. I’ve seen too many cases of rejected wolves turning dangerous. What if he tracks your scent here?”
Touched by her new friend’s protective instinct, Iris squeezed her hand. “Seven years as his mate taught me many things. Despite his betrayal, he’s not violent. Don’t worry.”
Though Iris smiled, Sarah remembered her tense silence during their earlier pack–bond discussions. She sensed deep wounds beneath Iris’s calm exterior.
“You’ve broken free of that toxic bond,” Sarah said firmly. “Keep running forward, never
look back.”
Meeting Sarah’s determined gaze, Iris felt her anxiety fade.
She’d survived those thirty days of deception and manipulation.
What was left to fear in the light of a new moon?
