Chapter 18
“Everything for Winter.” Reed’s pack brothers fell silent, still unable to comprehend what made this she–wolf worth such madness.
Reed held up the rejected mate–bond ring, his eyes softening. “Since I was young, she–wolves have always sought my attention. I felt nothing for them, just enjoyed their pursuit. Then I saw Winter perform at the Moon Ceremony. She glowed with something pure, something real. For the first time, my wolf truly stirred. I wanted to be the one who
mattered most in her world.”
“She never trusted easily. It took three years to earn her faith. Through every challenge, she stood beside me with patience and gentle strength. Just her presence could calm my wolf’s
darkest moods.”
“She became essential to my existence. I know my moment of weakness broke her trust, drove her to disappear. I’ll face any trial, endure any punishment, if she’d only return.”
His voice carried the weight of deep regret.
Heavy sighs filled the car. Their drunken jokes from two months ago had become prophecy. At least the Beta Morrison could still track his runaway mate. Winter had vanished completely, leaving no trace for even their extensive pack networks to find.
How could anyone evade such a thorough search? The question haunted them.
Meanwhile, in Lunaris, Iris settled into academic life. Her days filled with lectures,
discussions with professors, and outings with new friends.
If her past life had been a stormy sea, this new existence was a calm lake. She embraced the peace, letting her wolf relax into this fresh start.
Occasionally, friends sent her trending news from home territory. She treated them as Amusing stories, nothing more.
On February 6th, a Saturday, Iris slept late. Upon waking, something nagged at her
remory, but she couldn’t place it.

fter lunch, while walking with Sarah in the park, her phone exploded with messages.
ery friend had sent the same link.
Opening it, she saw Reed and Winter’s names. Watching the ceremony footage, she could only respond with ellipses.
Her best friend’s angry message followed: “Disgusting! He cheats, then gets painted as some
romantic hero? If it wouldn’t expose your location, I’d reveal his true nature to everyone!”
“Won’t mate another‘ – what a joke! Did he forget driving you out with his fake memory
loss? He better stay far away! Last thing you need is him hunting you down!”
“Reading these rants, Iris finally remembered what had nagged at her earlier.
Today was supposed to be her mating ceremony.
She couldn’t help but laugh.
Sarah looked over curiously. “What’s so funny?”
Iris waved dismissively. “Just friends ranting about some trending news back home.”
