Mackenzie calmly continued, “Quintus, could you send someone to search
the nearby area and see if the bandits are still lurking around? Make sure
they act with caution.”
“Got it!”
Quintus immediately set off to make arrangements, but not before
reminding her to put on a long coat. He was worried she might catch a cold.
“All right. Go on now.”
Lexi stepped in quickly, placing the coat over Mackenzie herself. She could
not allow Quintus to get so close to Mackenzie.
Muttering to himself, Quintus left to organize the search.
Standing behind Mackenzie, Rhett curiously asked, “Your Holiness, why are

you searching for those bandits?”

Mackenzie, looking a bit worried, answered, “They were rescued by someone.
I am afraid they are connected to the Five Poison Sect. If they are still nearby,
it is not too bad. However, if they have already left, they might be in
Silvergate by now.”
Rhett, being quick to grasp the situation, understood right away. “You fear
that they, along with the Five Poison Sect, may have set up an ambush in
Silvergate?”
Mackenzie nodded. “Originally, if I had gone to visit Mr. Willy on my own
initiative, there would be less concern. Since they invited me first, I fear this
could be a trap.”
Rhett nodded in agreement.
Quintus soon returned, reporting, “Mackenzie, we found the bandits‘ hideout,
but none of the bandits were there.”

Worry flickered in Mackenzie’s eyes.

“Your Holiness, if you suspect that Mr. Willy has set up a trap, maybe it would
be better not to attend the banquet,” Rhett suggested.
His main duty was to protect the Saintess, so her safety came first.
However, Quintus had a different view and shouted, “What is there to fear
about a trap? The legendary 101 could turn all of West End upside down if we
wanted to! We must go, eat, and drink!”
Mackenzie smiled slightly. Although her aim was different from Quintus‘, she
did have her own reasons to head to Silvergate.
“Rhett, since I already agreed, I have to go. I will need your help.”

“Haha, and I will be there too!” Quintus added with a laugh. “Last time in
Eldoría, Emmanuel stole the show. This time, without him around, I will be the
one in the spotlight!”
Mackenzie only smiled. “All right, let us go. Tomorrow, we will attend the
banquet.”
At the same time, in a grand estate in Silvergate…
Though the architecture was not as contemporary as that in the more
developed cities of Nuthana or Eldoria, the estate was vast. It was even larger
than the Quillen and Quill family estates, resembling an ancient palace.
Ken Willy had just sent off a group of guests and returned to the living room
to discuss matters with his wife, Lenore Quail.
“Ken, what did Teddy’s envoys want from you?”
Lenore, Anthony’s younger sister and Ken’s trusted partner, often discussed

“What else? They want me to cooperate with them to get rid of Mackenzie.”
Ken’s face remained calm.
Lenore, however, was worried. “Did you agree?”
“How could I not?”
Ken seemed a bit helpless, but he was far from panicking.
Becoming the Chairman of the West End Chamber of Commerce had
required both strategy and courage.
“What are you planning to do? I heard Mackenzie is not to be taken lightly.
Especially now, with her reputation spreading. If the people of West End find
out we are targeting her, it will surely cause outrage.”
Lenore was quick to remind him.

Ken held her shoulders as he spoke. “Amethyst is in charge of this mission.
She knows Mackenzie has powerful allies, which is why she plans to poison
them with the Five Poison Sect. A direct confrontation would be too
uncertain.”
“Poison?”
Lenore added, “Even so, if Mackenzie dies from poison in our home, we will still
be held responsible.”
“I am aware of that.”
Ken continued, “That is why I plan to get poisoned along with her tomorrow
and pretend I know nothing. We will shift all the blame onto the Five Poison
Sect. That is why you should not attend the banquet.”
Lenore was shocked. “You are going to pretend to be innocent and let the
Five Poison Sect take the blame?”

Ken nodded. “I have no other choice. I cannot afford to offend either side. If
we want to survive, we must side with the victor.”
This was not the first time he had told her that.
Lenore knew how dangerous Ken’s position was. Both Teddy and Mackenzie
had the potential to come out on top.
If Ken backed the wrong side and the other became the head of the national
Chamber of Commerce, they would surely eliminate him to secure their
power.
Thus, the wisest move now was to remain neutral, assess the situation, and
then join the winning side.
“What if you end up dying from the poison along with Mackenzie?”
Lenore was still deeply concerned.
Ken, however, was confident. “I will not die. If Mackenzie wins, she will save me
because she needs my vote. If the Five Poison Sect wins, Amethyst will save

Lenore softly sighed. “I suppose you are right. In these chaotic times, you
have to take risks to gain power.”
After finishing their discussion, the couple lay down to rest.
They were, indeed, a model couple.
Elsewhere, Ethan was busy with national affairs and had urgent matters to
handle in Zovince. He had to fly back that night.
Emmanuel, assigned to protect him, was scheduled to fly back as well.
However, Emmanuel had received word from Mackenzie that she would be
visiting Ken’s home the next day, and there was a strong chance the Five
Poison Sect would be involved.
Even though Mackenzie reassured him several times, telling him not to worry
and focus on his own duties, Emmanuel could not shake his unease. He
ordered Sunny to lead a team to Zovince to protect Ethan while he delayed

The next afternoon, Mackenzie arrived at Willy Residence on time for her visit.
Given the ongoing crisis in West End, Ken could not hold a lavish banquet for
Mackenzie, nor could he invite many guests.
Apart from Anthony, no other members of the West End Chamber of
Commerce were present.
This had been orchestrated by Envoy Amethyst. Mackenzie had come to
West End to network with the chamber’s representatives, but Envoy Amethyst
would not allow her that opportunity.
“Ms. Quillen, it is an honor to meet you!”
As Mackenzie stepped through the gate, Ken, who had been waiting outside,
warmly greeted her.
Though his reception was polite, the absence of other business leaders left
Mackenzie feeling disappointed.
