“Save it, jerk!” he hisses, a twisted smirk painting his face. “I know all about you, Principal.” He shoots a pointed look at Cameron, his voice dripped in malice. “You drive all your students to school, don’t you?”
A chill races down my spine.
“Do you chauffeur them home, too? To your little love nest?”
He snickers, a droplet of blood trickling from his lips, and it’s like a dagger in my gut.
“Yeah, I followed you, and I saw her.” He thrusts a thumb in my direction. “Walking right into your house. Bet you kept her there all night, didn’t you?”
His glare is a furnace, and I squirm under its heat.
“Didn’t he, you little h**y-”
A grunt escapes him as Cameron thrusts his foot into the guy’s ribs with a sharp c***k,
“Keep it up, idiot!” he returns, spitting venom. “You can lay into me all you want, but you’re done here, Stroud. I’m tenured. But you?” He chuckles darkly. “I’ll see you blacklisted from every private school in this godforsaken country, but not before I spill. the tea on your little escapades with your student!”
Then, a cough echoes in the silence, and like a spotlight flipping on, everyone turns to look at us, and I freeze.

The air thickens with tension, and I feel like I might just disintegrate into the floor when suddenly, Cameron is right there, reaching for me, his hand strong as he pulls me away from Professor Thaddeus Carter’s shadow. And like a whirlwind, before I can even process what’s happening, he spins me around, yanking me against him, and, in front of everyone, Cameron kisses me.

He kisses me again, dipping me low as if I’m weightless. My heart swells, soaring beyond the clouds.
“You’re it, Storm,” he whispers, soulful and sincere. “My perfect storm.”
I wrap my arms around him, kissing him back with a fiery intensity. When I catch the snickers sneaking from the crowd, I don’t pull away; instead, I raise one hand and flip them all off, defiant and fearless.
He’s right: Screw these onlookers. Because all that we need is right here, wrapped up in each other, and the rest?
