Chapter 27~ Lora’s secret

“Miss L? The mysterious world–renowned designer?” Ryan furrowed his eyebrows and asked, his voice barely hiding his disbelief.

The tension in the room was so thick that one could cut through it with a knife. Everyone’s eyes were fixed on Lora, awaiting her response.

At the same time, Lora was calm, her face devoid of any emotions. No one could tell what she was thinking

Seeing Ryan glance at Lora with so much interest in his eyes, Ivy gritted her teeth and clutched the arms of her wheelchair tightly, her heart racing. Something told her she wouldn’t like the outcome of this meeting.

Sure enough, Lora took in a deep breath and finally admitted, “Yes. I am Miss L.”

Gasps, followed by whispers erupted in the room among the employees. Others had dropped their jaws to the floor and their eyes widened in shock.

Who knew that the woman they had accused of plagiarising was the mysterious world–famous designer whose work had take he fashion world by storm?

“What?” Ryan stared at Lora incredulously. Lora is Miss L? What other secret was this woman hiding?

Ivy’s face turned pale at the revelation. ‘How could this bitch be Miss L? I’ve been trying to contact Miss L so that she could be my mentor. How could it be this bitch?‘

Meanwhile, Eloise smiled and looked at Lora. She said, “Miss Davis–or should I say, Miss L, I recognised your work because your design has your signature style. There’s no other designer who’s able to tell a story using their designs… that feat is impossible to copy.”

Hannah grinned from ear to ear, feeling proud of her boss. She remarked, “Of course, Miss Davis is the best when it comes to jewelry design. It’s laughable that some people thought she could copy their work.”

Hearing that, everyone finally came to terms with what had just been revealed. Lora Davis was Miss L, the talented genius designer. Why would she copy Ivy’s work?

“Wow, so Miss Davis was the legendary designer? I never knew she could be so young,” someone commented.

“Miss L, you’re a genius! You’ve only studied design for a few years and became so good! You’re my role model!”

“Miss Davis, we are so sorry we doubted you. Your work is exceptional!”

“I’m so honoured to work with you, Miss L.”

A smile crossed Lora’s lips. She said, “Thank you, everyone, but this is not how I wanted to reveal my identity. However, my reputation as a designer was on the line, I couldn’t let anyone steal my work and tarnish my image.”

Lora recalled how she worked harder than everyone else. Despite reuniting with her rich parents, she still tried her best to be successful. It wasn’t easy but her children gave her the strength to go on. She wanted to become someone they could be proud of.

Lora knew how much Ryan loved Ivy. He could tolerate whatever she did, so she knew Ivy would be left to go scot–free even though she plagiarised someone’s work.

Ryan narrowed his eyes. He finally believed that Lora didn’t plagiarise Ivy’s work but it was the other way

round.

“Ryan, are you going to believe this woman? She must be pretending to be Miss L! No one has ever seen Miss L. She’s never introduced herself to the public. Miss Davis is an imposter!” Ivy quickly said before Ryan could reply.

“Ivy, enough…”

“Ryan, think this through. Why would Miss L get into a partnership with you? If she was really Miss L, she would have just used he putation to calm the board members at Davis & Co. We need to report this

“I said enough!” Ryan yelled and banged his hand on the table, his eyes cold as he glanced at Ivy. “Haven’t you done enough?”

“Miss Williams wants me to prove that I’m Miss L,” Lora said and glanced at her assistant. “It’s only right

that I do so.”

Hannah smiled and played a video on the projector. She presented, “Miss Davis once won a contest held by the world’s biggest jewelry company as Miss L. In this video, you can see her going to the stage to collect her award,”

Everyone watched the video and they recalled Miss L had won an international award a few months ago. Since her identity was a secret, no videos of her were released at that time.

“It can’t be…” Ivy shook her head in denial.

Ryan got to his feet, the air around him turning cold. He announced, “The winner of this contest is Miss

Davis.”

“Ryan, I-”

“Everyone is dismissed,” Ryan stated, ignoring Ivy. He left the office and everyone dispersed and went

back to work.

Lora sneered internally. As expected, Ryan didn’t do anything to Ivy even though he found out she was lying

“Miss Davis, are you just going to let Miss Williams go? She stole your work and almost ruined your name,” Hannah Collins remarked.

“It’s ok… someone like her will get her retribution sooner or later, Lora replied and went to her office.

A few minutes later, Lora was packing up her files in a box when Ryan entered her office.

“What are you doing? You’re leaving?” He asked, his brows creasing

“Our partnership is over as of today.” Lora replied coldly

“What? Why?” Ryan asked in disbelief. “The contract is not over yet.”

“Are you really asking me that? Your fiancee stole my work and tried to ruin me. You breached the contract first, so I have no obligation to cooperate with you,” Lora remarked icily.

Ryan saw that Lora was angry. He softened his voice and said, “I’m sorry, Miss Davis. Please don’t end the partnership, I still need you. Ivy’s actions caused the stock price to drop.”
