Fuming, Xanthe almost snapped her spoon in half. “And one daughter is enough? Is she even the real daughter of the Nelson family? Does she have any self–awareness?*
The more she listened, the angrier she got, and was about to jump up and expose Yvette’s facade in front of everyone.
Shakira reacted faster, pressing down on Xanthe’s hand and gendy pulling her back into her seat.

Xanthe chewed the shrimp, her mouth full, and despite her anger, she obediently listened. She thought, ‘Shakira is right. I can’t fall into Yvette’s trap!
Yvette had been watching Shakira all along and, seeing her calm demeanor, felt even more triumphant. She thought, ‘Oh Shakira, no matter how indifferent you act, there’s no way you’re not bothered inside, right?

With a smirk on her lips, Yvette basked in the admiration of her colleagues. As the chatter continued, someone suddenly changed the topic. “Hey, look at the shareholders list of our group. When did we get a new minor shareholder?”
“Wow, you’re right! It wasn’t there last month. How did a newcomer suddenly get a 3% stake?”
In an instant, everyone’s attention shifted to the company’s stock changes. Compared to Yvette’s flaunting, they were far more intrigued by this mysterious new shareholder.
“Hey, do you guys think this new shareholder could be Mr. Lopez’s girlfriend?”
“Could be, you know!”
“Yeah, Mr. Lopez took her to meetings. And during the holidays, she was all over his Instagram. Giving her some shares would just be a casual gesture for him.”
“The first name is hidden, but their last name is Nelson…”
“Wait, could it be Yvette?”
Just as someone threw out the bold guess, it was shot down immediately.

Xanthe suddenly realized something, her eyes practically popping out of her head. Mouth agape, hit by a wave of shock and excitement, she forgot how to speak, resorting to shaking Shakis arm vigorously, her expression hilariously exaggerated.
Rachel panicked. “Shakira, is Xanthe choking?” She hurried over to help.
Shakira met Xanthe’s gossip–hungry gaze and instantly knew what she was thinking. “She’s fine, she just wants the scoop”
Shakira calmly picked up a juicy slice of watermelon and popped it into Xanthe’s mouth, leaning in close. “You guessed right. You’re the only one who knows. Don’t spill.”
Xanthe thought. The only one who knows! That’s totally VIP status for the number one fan like me!
Xanthe bubbled with excitement, munching watermelon with a grin bigger than a cat who got the cream. “Okay, okay. I won’t say a word.”
“Oh man, if Yvette, who brags about a million–dollar net worth, finds out you’re worth billions, she’ll lose it!” She promised not to say but her face was practically screaming to reveal the juicy secret.
Shakira quietly chowed down on her watermelon, unable to watch any longer. She hadn’t expected their secret to be discovered so quickly; itenust have just been updated on the records after the legal process.
Rachel and Larry exchanged confused looks, not understanding the girls‘ cryptic exchange. They just continued eating watermelon.

Yvette thought, “Three percent of Lopez Group! How does Shakira deserve that? What kind of magic spell does she cast on Walter to make him hand over his shares to her?

Even though Yvette kept convincing herself that she didn’t want Walter, knowing Shakira had such immense wealth shattered all her mental defenses.

Hearing her innermost thoughts voiced out loud, Yvette’s heart pounded, She looked up and saw, reflected in the mirror, a glamorous, haughty woman who had appeared behind her.
Yvette narrowed her eyes. “You’re… Fiona?” She recognized her and turned around, her face easing into its usual gentle demeanor. “Ms. Banks, were you talking to me?”
Fiona let out a mocking laugh. “It’s just us here, drop the act. When Shakira shamelessly latched onto Walter, I had her thoroughly investigated. If not for the Nelson family kicking her out, she wouldn’t have clung to Walter.
“In the end, it’s the Nelson family–no, it’s you, Yvette–who turned Shakira into a big winner, giving her a dream life she could never have reached otherwise.”
Fiona’s sarcastic remarks broke through Yvette’s defenses once again. She clenched her fists and stared straight into Fiona’s venomous eyes.

She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “Sorry, Ms. Banks, though Shakira doesn’t like me, I won’t do anything to hurt her. If possible, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t make things difficult for her.”
Seeing Yvette’s almost all–knowing smile, acting all innocent and pure, Fiona felt nauseous. “No wonder Shakira would rather leave the Nelson family. Turns out you’re a world–class manipulator, making everyone uncomfortable.”
Fiona crossed her arms. “I thought you’d make a good ally, but clearly, I overestimated you.” She turned to leave.
Yvette’s expression darkened, biting her lip, she softly commanded, “Stop.”
