Chapter 310
Yvette told the maid, “I’ll spend some time with Grandma; you can take a break.” Once the maid left, the room was filled with the strong smell of medicine and alcohol, making Yvette wrinkle her nose.
As she got closer to the bed, she saw Selena, once lively but now weak like a wilted plant. Yvette’s cold gaze was full of mockery.
Selena lay on her back, eyes open but unseeing, like a coma patient. After a long moment, Selena finally turned to Yvette, her eyes wide with horror as if seeing something shocking.
But trapped in her own body, Selena couldn’t move, her fear frozen.
Seeing this, Yvette smiled wider and softly said, “Grandma, you’ve realized something, haven’t you?”
Yvette’s eyes scanned the room before settling on a nearby chair. She picked up a cloth, lifted the covers, and started wiping Selena’s arm leisurely.
Yvette said, “Honestly, I have to thank you, Grandma. If you hadn’t been so healthy, I wouldn’t know who to turn to for my quick recovery.”
Selena’s eyes widened as if she grasped a sudden realization.
Yvette continued, “Grandma, you’ve been so proud your whole life; seeing you like this is really pitiful… It makes my heart ache
Yvette feigned compassion. “Out of pity for you, I’ll enlighten you.
“When I was in the hospital after my accident, I called you. Instead of asking about my injuries, you yelled at me. Do you remember what you said?”
Yvette paused, letting the memory surface. “You said I was a wretched child, that no matter how much the Nelson family did for me, I’d never change.
“You even told me to die, so I wouldn’t tarnish the family name!
Yvette chuckled to herself, moving from Selena’s arm to her neck. “It’s a shame, though; none of your words came true. Instead, it seems you lent me your longevity, allowing my quick recovery while your health declines.”
Yvette covered Selena’s mouth and nose with the cloth, watching her eyes bulge in terror.
Amused, Yvette tossed the cloth aside and laughed. “Grandma, I was just joking! With my parents and brothers helping me
future?” start a company, why would I harm you and risk my
Selena’s gaze shifted from fear to shock and finally to rage.
Unfazed by Selena’s anger, Yvette flaunted her confidence. “I’ve borrowed your longevity, Finn’s leadership, Felix’s talent, and Jayden’s calm execution. Too bad Yosef isn’t in Crescentville I’d borrow from him too.
“Soon, my company will completely surpass the Nelson Group, becoming Crescentville’s brightest new kingdom. When people talk about the Nelson family, they’ll only think of me!”
As Yvette boasted, tears streamed down Selena’s face, each drop a testament to her regret
and despair.
After two big successes, George transferred Shakira to the Norpa Technology project team, making her days busier. Every day, Shakira arrived ready to work, even staying late; though hectic, it felt fulfilling.
She mostly ignored outside chatter until Xanthe mentioned the latest online buzz during lunch.

Xanthe said, “There’s a big marketing push for Rippling Heart skincare, especially among wealthy socialites and officials. A famous cancer survivor said her acne–prone skin became smooth after using it. One socialite even said it’s hard to get…
Xanthe mused, scratching her chin. “Could this brand be really amazing and low–key for so long that I never heard of it?”
Shakira narrowed her eyes. “Someone recently bragged about starting a skincare tech company.”
“Yvette!” Xanthe exclaimed, suddenly alert. “How did I not connect the dots? Rippling Heart is hers!”
Xanthe’s curiosity turned to disgust. “That plagiarizing Yvette! I almost tried to buy it; thankfully, I didn’t!”
Shakira’s expression darkened. “Yvette is moving fast; the Nelson family must be backing her up.”
“Attracting high–society women would need a lot of money and connections. Could Yvette actually make this work?” Xanthe said, fuming as she smashed her potato into a mushy mess.
But Shakira remained unconvinced, “Maybe not.”
Xanthe looked at her, expectant. “So you think Yvette can’t achieve anything significant?”
Shakira shook her head, chuckling softly but saying no more as she returned to her meal.
Unlike Shakira’s intense schedule, Xanthe took time after meetings to slack off and find connections to buy Rippling Heart. She didn’t want to use it; she just wanted to prove that someone as unprincipled as Yvette couldn’t produce anything good. Xanthe aimed to get the skincare product for testing, eager to uncover its secrets. But despite her efforts, she couldn’t find anyone among her friends who could get Rippling Heart, as the buying process was strict and exclusive.
Frustrated, Xanthe ranted to herself, convinced Yvette was creating an illusion of exclusivity to impress elite socialites, making it seem like only the privileged could buy the skincare line.
After a day filled with frustration, Xanthe got a mysterious phone call. “Ms. Sullivan, I hear you want to buy Rippling Heart;/ our madam has a set available for you.”
Xanthe perked up. “Really? Your madam is amazing! Where is she? I’ll come pick it up right away!”
