Chapter 291
It was confirmed that Berry was the mysterious favorite.
Seeing the manager, Donna Dudley, almost glued to her phone screen, Berry kept her composure but secretly felt délighted.
It wasn’t until the phone screen went dark that Donna realized she had lost her composure. She cleared her throat lightly, her smile growing wider.
“The colleague is already outside. Take some time to get familiar with your workspace, and you can manage the rest of your time as you wish,” said Donna.
Berry nodded. “Okay.”
As Berry stepped out, a young girl eagerly approached her to chat and guide her to the department.
As soon as Berry left, Donna hurried to John’s office. When John found out that the trending mysterious favorite was in his company, he was stunned.
John asked, “Are you sure you didn’t mistake her identity?”
John quickly opened his phone and found Brian’s contact to show it to her.
Donna glanced over, visibly excited and firm. “That’s the one. She even instructed Brian to take care of Mr. Lopez. She paused and added softly, “And Brian has responded in the chat history too.”
Looking at the read–but–no–reply page from Brian, John was speechless.
After thinking for a moment, he asked, “Where did you settle her?”
Donna explained, “The operations team. Mr. Gilbert, do you need her moved to your side?”
John shot a glance at Donna. “What good does it do to transfer her to my side? Mr. Lopez’s favorite should definitely go straight to him.”
Donna suddenly realized and switched back to a businesslike tone, “The team working on the smart partnership project with Lopez Group moved into their headquarters before the end of last year. Due to a lack of staff, I’m sending two more employees this time.”
John agreed, “Okay, let’s do that.”
John thought, ‘Who would have thought such a big opportunity would fall into my lap? Even though it’s just an internship, if Berry can secure Mr. Lopez’s backing, I won’t have to worry about passing Lopez Group’s annual partnership review in the future!‘
Berry had barely settled into her seat when someone from the HR department came with orders.
When Berry heard she was being transferred to the project team at Lopez Group, she was so happy that she almost jumped
- up.
She pretended to be cool as she followed orders, but once she left the company, she couldn’t wait to share the good news with Yvette.
She opened the chat page to find that Brian had coolly replied to her with a question mark.
Berry felt a bit guilty, but thinking about the rare opportunity, she deleted the chat history with Brian and acted like she didn’t know anything.

Chapter 291
However, before she could keep celebrating, a message from an unknown number popped up, and Berry’s expression changed instantly.
With just a day left before starting at Lopez Group, Shakira took some time to video call with Gideon and Sean.
“Lago signed a contract with Nelson Group’s cafeteria. All the goods he stocked up before the New Year were sold out. The factory is working overtime to catch up. From what I heard, he’s expecting another big order soon,” Gideon said.
Sean didn’t know about this and was shocked when he heard it.
“Really? Is Nelson Group managed so poorly now that Lago even took over the cafeteria contract?” asked Sean.
Shakira had expected it, smiling softly, “It was Yvette.”
Sean asked, “What? Shakira, did you know?”
Shakira’s eyes sparkled. “While recording the show, I overheard Yvette calling Finn’s assistant from the room. Nelson Group has been laying off staff lately, which just gave Yvette an opening”
“Lago is really sly, isn’t he? When he can’t find anyone outside to work with and make money, he starts taking advantage of Nelson Group,” Sean sneered.
“Isn’t that typical of him? He’s always trying to bleed Nelson Group dry,” Gideon said casually. “Before, he didn’t have the chance, but now he’s doing it openly under someone else’s name.”
“You’re right,” Sean laughed, slapping his thigh. “Did someone from the Nelson family offend Lago’s ancestors before? He’s just taking everything he can from the Nelson family. At this rate, the Nelson family might end up completely drained by him one day.”
Gideon’s eyes were dark as he harshly cursed, “That’s just the Nelson family’s own doing.”
Sean said, “Absolutely right. If that day ever comes, we’ll definitely pop some champagne to celebrate.”
Gideon nodded in agreement, and when he looked at Shakira, his gaze softened, “I have a bottle of vintage Cristal champagne, which I’ll give to Shakira as a celebratory gift.”
Shakira was lost for words.
She thought, “That bottle of vintage Cristal champagne…
‘Isn’t it a rare heirloom passed down through the royal family?
‘Gideon, you’re so thoughtful. Do your royal grandparents know how considerate you are?‘
Shakira’s lips twitched. “No rush on that. Lago’s just getting a taste of success, and he’ll have plenty of tricks up his sleeve later.”
Pausing, she looked at Sean. “How’s the software I asked for your help with? Any progress?”
“Whoa!” Sean, who was busy gossiping, suddenly remembered his own matter. “Shakira, that software you developed for feeding stray animals is awesome! It’s been online for less than two months, and the response has been really good!”
Gideon had heard about it. “Are you talking about that software that broke the yearly download records just a month after launching, Virmo?”
Sean said, “Exactly. It was Shakira’s solo idea, and I was responsible for bringing the tech team together. Cool, right?”

Chapter 291-
Gideon’s eyes lit up. “Shakira’s so smart. I downloaded that software too, and it’s really impressive!”
Sean protested, “Gideon, why are you only praising Shakira? What about me? Without me, this software wouldn’t have existed!”
Gideon chuckled, “Without you, Shakira could have made the software on her own.”
“Shakira is busy treating patients. She didn’t have the time, so it had to be me,” said Sean confidently.

Hearing their bickering, Shakira rubbed her ears. “The fact that this software launched so quickly is indeed mostly thanks to Sean.”
Praised personally by Shakira, Sean looked up proudly with his chest puffed out.
Gideon looked a bit aggrieved, his delicate face full of grievances. “I have a tech team too. Why didn’t Shakira ask me for help?”
Shakira didn’t know what to say.
She thought, ‘Should I say it’s because I am used to bossing Sean around?‘
“Alright, I’ll ask you for a favor next time,” Shakira said.
Gideon smiled broadly, “Great, it’s a deal.”
Shakira chuckled, “I came up with the idea for this software while I was at the hospital. First, it lets us feed stray animals and provide them with nourishment and warmth.
“Secondly, it can effectively and promptly help with spaying and rescuing injured stray animals, and it also helps find adopters for them. It’s a win–win on all sides.”
