Chapter 5
My words seemed to snap her back to reality, making her realize that her transformation from a village girl to someone living a life of luxury, clad in designer clothes, wasn’t thanks to Gavin–it was all because of my money.
Hearing this, Gavin, who had been silent, suddenly shoved Ellie away violently.
He turned to me in a panic, trying to explain himself.
“So that’s what’s bothering you, Scarlett? It’s all her fault! Ellie’s a vile seductress who drugged me with all sorts of mind–altering substances…”
Ellie, pushed so hard, fell heavily to the ground.
Her forehead hit the edge of the table, leaving a deep gash that started bleeding profusely.
In no time, her face became horrifyingly disfigured.
She stared at Gavin in disbelief, fury written all over her face.
You weren’t saying that when you begged me to be with you. You weren’t saying that when you
kissed me in bed!”
Her words made Gavin’s face twist..
“You’re spouting nonsense!”
Ellie Johnson’s face was visibly swollen from the slap, and the scene before me had turned into a
farce.
I couldn’t help but feel a wave of irritation.
With a simple wave of my hand toward my secretary, she immediately understood
she immediately understood my intent.
In no time, she called the property management office.
Soon, Gavin and Ellie, along with all their belongings, were thrown out.
As he was being dragged away, Gavin struggled desperately, but his strength was no match for
several men.

hi the end, all he could do was cast a deep, pitiful, and pleading gaze in my direction.
But I was no longer the soft–hearted woman I used to be.
My heart was now as cold as iron; I would not waver.
After they were gone, I decided to sell the house.
I moved into a larger villa.
The old house still bore traces of the past. Since I was determined to say goodbye to wouldn’t let myself cling to any lingering memories.
After settling into my new home, the first thing I did was return to the company.
it completely, I
Although I had been away from work for three years, the instincts for it were ingrained in my blood.
I seamlessly resumed the company’s projects and began restructuring the workforce.
In my absence, it seemed the company had undergone a complete overhaul.
Many new employees had been hired, but they were lazy and undisciplined.
Some even failed to recognize me when they saw me.
Had it not been for the introduction of a veteran employee, they might have outright challenged me.
Of course, there were still some who were defiant and voiced their support for Gavin.
“Who is she? Didn’t President Braxton lead us well? Why is this random woman suddenly parachuting in here?”
“She’s probably just a pretty face.”
But their words didn’t bother me at all.
Instead, I smiled confidently and responded,
“I am the founder of this company and its CEO. You’ll soon understand why I have the ability to “parachute‘ back here.”
With that, I walked into my old office–only to find it had been completely transformed into Gavin’s
office.

In my absence, he had seized the opportunity to reign like a king.
Without hesitation, I instructed my secretary to remove all of his belongings.
Only after his presence was erased from the office did I feel a sense of relief.
I then immersed myself in work, reviewing the company’s financial accounts and various projects. from the past few years.
It was only then that I slowly came to terms with a certain truth.
During the years I was away, Gavin truly mismanaged the company. The KPIs dropped year after year, the financial accounts were falsified, projects failed–there wasn’t a single thing Gavin did right.
In no time, I was overwhelmed with issues but tackled them one by one.
While I was burning the midnight oil to fix the company’s problems, Gavin kept calling me incessantly.
“Scarlett, why did you sell our old home? Don’t you know it was full of our memories? How could you be so heartless? How could you dare?”
Already swamped with work, hearing this infuriated me even more.
“That was my property. I’ll do whatever I want with it. It’s none of your business.”
“Do you have nothing better to do? Instead of pestering me all day, why don’t you go sign the divorce papers? I’m giving you one more month. Otherwise, I’ll directly press charges for how you caused my paralysis back then.”
Sensing the anger in my voice, Gavin immediately regretted his tone.
Ever the opportunist, he softened his stance in an instant.
“Scarlett, I was too hasty earlier. Don’t be mad. Can we not bring up the divorce papers anymore?”
“I’ve completely cut ties with Ellie Johnson and won’t contact her again. Scarlett, please forgive me. Can’t we go back to how things were? I’ll just be your little employee at the company, serving you tea, staying up late to help you with work…”
Before he could finish, I interrupted him coldly.
“There’s no need, I can manage perfectly well on my own. I don’t need you.”
Now, I’ve come to understand that love is nothing but a stumbling block in my career.
I’m quite happy being in love with my work.”
Hearing my resolute tone, Gavin’s composure finally broke.
