Chapter 9
I called Aaron’s assistant, inquiring about his business meeting.
When I arrived, my presence surprised him. Just as he was about to push the door open, I moved faster.
With a wine bottle in hand, I hurled it at his business partner. The bottle shattered beside him, splattering wine all over and startling him.
“Who the hell are you? What do you want?” he sputtered. Having just narrowly escaped death, he now stood there like a lion, full of ferocity and defiance.
“I’m Mrs. Goodwin. My husband has mentioned

how much he despises your arrogant attitude. Working with you is a headache, so do us all a favor and stay away. And those pathetic businesses of yours? You think you can associate with the Goodwins? You must be out of your mind!”
Aaron was completely taken aback by my sudden outburst. By the time he tried to pull me back, it was too late. “Mr. Ward, I apologize. My wife is having some issues.”
“He was trying to say that I was the one with the problem, using that as an excuse to escape the humiliation you just faced today,” I shot back.
“Fine, Aaron. Don’t expect me to help you make any connections in D.C. anymore,” I said, my voice steady.

Aaron looked at the chaos around us, his eyes darkening. “You know I’ve always wanted to develop the business in D.C….”
“So what? And you know how much I value my health,” I replied coldly.
“Kaye, considering you’ve ruined my dream -Can we start over? Let’s stop this petty back–and–forth, alright? The past…”
“The past is etched in my mind forever! I’ll never forget it, not even in death, and I’ll make sure I watch you go to prison first!”
As I walked away, I could only hear Aaron’s murmured words:
You used to have such a good temper, you used to love me, you used to tolerate my flaws.

Who would tolerate a criminal?
I hired several bodyguards, sabotaging countless of his partnerships.
Jenifer couldn’t hold back any longer. “Enough! What more do you want from Aaron? Why are you trying to ruin your own man?”
“How could you ever understand the rage that makes me want to kill him? By the way, it’s not just him I want gone–I want you out of the picture, too.”
“Aaro, look at this woman. She wants you dead! Just divorce her; she’ll drag you down with her!”
Aaron stepped closer. “It’s okay, Kaye. As long as you’re happy.”

I grimaced in disgust. “Who are you trying to put on that heartfelt act for?”
As Jenifer was leaving, I suddenly spoke up, “You see? I even told him I wanted him dead, but he still refuses to divorce me. What will you do if I actually succeed?
“When that happens, your beloved Aaro wouldn’t be in this world anymore.”
