As time passed, the evidence and information I had gathered gradually improved, but without sufficient power, these pieces of evidence remained useless.
The additional information provided by the detective was a revelation. It turned out that Wendy Pierce had worked at Luke Corporation in her early years before being dismissed due to a major accident. After her dismissal, she seemed to harbor a grudge against Luke Corporation’s president, Gregory Hudson.

I wasn’t sure if the enemy’s enemy was a friend, but at this point, I was outnumbered. I needed to inform Gregory Hudson and seek his cooperation.
Gregory Hudson quickly agreed to meet with

Walking into the reserved restaurant booth, I saw Gregory Hudson sitting calmly, occasionally sipping his tea. I had heard that Gregory Hudson was a very low–profile person, so I had never seen him before in our previous encounters.
Gregory Hudson extended his long hand toward me, “Mrs. Harding, it’s a pleasure to finally meet you.”

I shook his hand politely, surprised by his composure despite his youth. His every movement exuded a calm and competent
demeanor.
Retracting my hand, I smiled, “Thank you, Mr. Hudson, for putting aside any past grievances to meet with me. Please, have a seat.”
I began explaining the details of my investigation, but Gregory Hudson remained slow and methodical, focusing intently on his steak as though nothing else was more important.
Knowing that I was in a passive position, I realized that using business negotiation tactics against Gregory Hudson might backfire. I even considered revealing Yvette’s story, hoping to elicit Gregory Hudson’s sympathy.

I pulled out the documents from my bag, “Mr. Hudson, Calvin Floyd and Wendy Pierce intend to take over your company. Don’t you want to retaliate? You might even get my company in the process.”
Gregory Hudson elegantly dabbed his lips with the napkin and flipped through the documents. Despite finishing the documents, his expression remained unchanged, as if he already knew everything.
In this brief encounter, I couldn’t fathom Gregory Hudson’s true intentions. Seeing that he remained unmoved, I directly proposed my
idea:
Gregory Hudson, I’d like to collaborate with you to deal with them. Name your terms.”

Gregory Hudson inquired, “Any terms?”
Seeing his serious attitude, I took a deep breath and replied, “For Yvette, I am willing to do anything, except murder or arson.”
I pretended to take a sip of red wine to suppress my anxious emotions.
My seemingly confident words masked my fear that Gregory Hudson might refuse to cooperate. I had not yet swallowed the wine when Gregory Hudson spoke:
“Marriage.”
“Pft…” I sprayed the wine across the table in
shock.

“Sorry, sorry!” I immediately apologized.
I glanced around hesitantly, “Mr. Hudson, are you serious? What’s the benefit of marrying me for you?”
Gregory Hudson smiled and said, “My family is urging me to settle down, and I’ve always admired you.”
I shook my head, “Right now, my only focus is revenge. I have no interest in romance. It’s unnecessary to marry someone like a blockhead, Mr. Hudson.”
“So, marrying you would not be an extra hassle,” Gregory Hudson continued, “You can rest assured, marriage would be purely business. Consider it a transaction if you prefer.”
