Chapter 2
Arriving at the company, pushed open the door to Calvin Floyd’s office.
In a glance, it seemed I saw Calvin Floyd and his assistant, Wendy Pierce, engaged in something.
I felt a shiver and pretended not to notice, asking the assistant to leave.
Before Wendy Pierce left, I clearly saw the smugness, disdain, and jealousy in her eyes.
Calvin Floyd turned around, adjusting his clothes, and asked with feigned seriousness, “What are you doing here?”
I approached Calvin Floyd calmly and said,

“This is also my company. Why shouldn’t I
come?”
Calvin Floyd immediately became agitated: “You’ve been a stay–at–home mom since giving birth. Now that our daughter is gone, are you trying to take back your position?”
His words hit me like a cold plunge. I’m not stupid; Calvin Floyd’s harsh attitude must have
a reason.
Initially intending to test him, I immediately erupted in anger: “Calvin Floyd, is this how you see me? You must be projecting your own thoughts onto me!”
Seeing the hidden lipstick stain on Calvin Floyd’s white shirt, I realized more clearly, and various signs deepened my suspicion of him.

However, the priority was not to anger Calvin Floyd.
“Enough. I didn’t come here to argue. I have something to tell you.”
I gently approached Calvin Floyd, feigning terror and excitement, and whispered, “I saw Yvette at home. It was her ghost, coming back to see me.”
Due to the days of sorrow, my appearance had become haggard and gaunt, resembling that of a mentally ill person.
I was sure that Calvin Floyd would be unsettled by my ominous tone.
After a brief pause, I continued, “I saw her on the second–floor balcony. She said she was

killed by someone.”
I stared intently at Calvin Floyd’s reaction.
Calvin Floyd’s earlier disdainful expression suddenly froze, turning into fear and panic: “How do you know Yvette was…?”
Calvin Floyd quickly shut his mouth and added, “Don’t, don’t talk nonsense. There are no ghosts in broad daylight.”
His abnormal behavior confirmed my
suspicions.
I pressed on: “No matter what, I will have someone investigate and avenge my daughter.” I ‘deliberately acted a bit crazed and turned to leave.

Calvin Floyd’s face turned ashen. He hurriedly grabbed me and shouted, “Stop acting crazy! Go home; there are no ghosts!”
Fearing a scene at the company, Calvin Floyd dragged me to the car, intending to take me
home.
I was thrown into the back seat, with Calvin Floyd’s suit from that day placed in front of me.
Feeling a pang of inspiration, I threw myself onto the suit and started crying and making a scene, carefully pulling out a note from the suit pocket and holding it in my hand.
Back at home, Calvin Floyd handed me a divorce agreement with a grim face.
His real character emerged quickly, but I

couldn’t lose my composure.
Internally seething with resentment, I outwardly put on a heartbroken expression and said softly, *Calvin Floyd, what do you mean by this? I relied on you, and this is how you treat me?”
Calvin Floyd responded coldly, “Lisa Harding, you think you’re still the old CEO? Now you’re just a useless, messy housewife.”
*Look at you now. Do you think you’re worthy of me? I’m home now, so sign the divorce papers quickly, or you’ll have a hard time.”
Hearing Calvin Floyd’s threats, I deliberately softened and reminisced about our past, pretending to plead with him.
Calvin Floyd, more disdainful than ever, set a

final deadline for signing and left straight away.
Watching Calvin Floyd’s departing figure, I hurriedly opened the note soaked with sweat in my hand.
It was a used movie ticket, for a couple’s seat and a couple’s movie, showing at the same time as Yvette’s accident!
My heart was instantly ignited with rage, a suffocating feeling overwhelming me.
Calvin Floyd was seeing his lover at such a time, and my daughter had died because of this absurdity.
Calvin Floyd, what did you even think Yvette’s

She was your child! No matter how you felt about me, it shouldn’t affect her.
No, maybe Calvin Floyd had wished for something to happen to our daughter; in reality, he had indeed made it happen.
Being late to a movie was a perfect excuse.
Even if it was exposed in the end, it only proved his infidelity and didn’t reveal much, rather it covered up the real motives better.
The deeper I thought, the colder I felt, realizing I had lived under the same roof with such a
person for so long.
Was Yvette’s death an accident or part of a
conspiracy?
