Chapter 10
Due to her being pregnant, the bodyguards escorted her out gently. However, they were still rubbing their ears when they came in, a clear sign of the trouble they’d endured.
I found it amusing.
Joseph somehow managed to scrape together some money to cover Melissa’s debts. The family moved from the villa to a rundown
apartment in the old district. Mrs. Chandler, unaccustomed to such a change after enjoying a life of luxury, was out of her element.
Melissa’s temper flared easily, and any slight inconvenience from Mrs. Chandler set her off.

At first, Mrs. Chandler endured it.
Eventually, she couldn’t tolerate it any longer. In yet another dispute over who would do the dishes, the two women came to blows. By
the time Joseph arrived, Melissa’s water had already broken, and the family rushed her to the hospital in a frantic hurry.
Melissa was wheeled into the operating room. After a grueling ten hours, the Chandlers, still in high spirits, were stunned when the doctor revealed that the baby had a congenital condition requiring a blood transfusion.
Joseph immediately panicked and offered to donate blood, only to find out that neither he nor Melissa shared a compatible blood type. The baby had a rare type–panda blood.

Joseph, an A–type, was taken aback. When Melissa finally emerged, he realized the truth: Melissa had been unfaithful, and the child was not his.
As he confronted Melissa, a rural–looking man pushed past him. “Of course it’s not yours,” the man said.
“It’s the baby my sister had for me.”
The man was causing a scene outside the hospital, his greedy eyes lingering on Melissa. Exhausted from Mrs. Chandler’s demands and disillusioned with Joseph’s downfall, Melissa was enraged to see Joseph now.
“I had the baby for my brother. What can you do about it?”

Joseph, devastated and enraged, attempted to strangle Melissa. He was quickly overpowered by the man. Mrs. Chandler, furious, joined Mr. Chandler in the fray, while Mélissa’s mother joined the fight as well. Ultimately, Joseph was detained for two weeks.
I found the situation amusing.
No longer stirred by the turmoil, I left the company and caught sight of a familiar figure. Before I could react, Joseph and the Chandlers suddenly appeared and fell to their knees before
- me.
“Faye, we were wrong. Please forgive Joseph.”
Mrs. Chandler, clutching Joseph’s clothes, slapped him hard. “He made a mistake. I’m hitting him for you. Please forgive him.”

“Think of the years of friendship. Don’t let this issue tear you apart.”
Joseph allowed Mrs. Chandler to strike him, his face bruised and swollen. He reached out toward me, but I stepped back, and the bodyguards immediately positioned themselves between us. I watched them, smiling faintly.,
“Forgiveness?”
“We’re done.”
“There’s no need for forgiveness.”
I turned to leave, but Joseph rushed to follow, only to be stopped by the bodyguards.
“Faye, I was wrong. I was blinded by my own foolishness.”

“Please forgive me.”
“I love you.”
“Faye, I swore that if I wronged you, I would never find peace.”
“If you don’t forgive me, I’ll truly die. I can’t go on.”
As I listened to him, a sudden thought struck me. I stopped, turned around, and saw Joseph’s eyes light up as I approached him. “Faye, you still have feelings for me, don’t you?”
“I knew you wouldn’t let me go.
In the next moment, I pulled out a report and
handed it to him.

“I think you need to know this.”
“The problem wasn’t me.”
“Sir, you have low sperm count. It’s not me who can’t have children; it’s you.”
This was revealed after I had irregular menstrual cycles and went for a check–up. Geneva suggested I recheck my health, and it turned out that my fertility was perfectly fine. When I examined Joseph’s medical records, I discovered he had been suffering from low sperm count all along, though he had refused to admit it.
Now, the suffering I endured has come full circle to him.

As I watched the Chandlers grappling with the shocking truth and Joseph slumped to the ground, wailing in despair, I looked up at the clear blue sky.
I realized that life is too short to be overly concerned with others. Instead of trying to please everyone, it’s better to find joy in living for oneself.
After bidding farewell to the past, it was time for me to start living my own life.
