“Aaron, I want to attend the Colons‘ family banquet.”
Aaron hesitated.
“What’s wrong? Didn’t you say I could do whatever I want? Now that it’s the event held by your childhood sweetheart’s family, you hesitate? And you still claim you don’t care about her?”
“I really don’t. I’ll take you with me.”
Usually, I preferred a subtle, serene look. I detested red; it was never a calming color. Yet here I was, dressed in it. This was a price Aaron would have to pay.

When we arrived at the Colons‘ place, I truly became the center of attention, outshining everyone. Even Jenifer’s mother, Mrs. Colon, couldn’t compete with my dazzling presence.
No one wants being upstaged at their own event.
“Mr. Goodwin, your wife looks so stunning, I even thought today was your birthday, not mine.”
