Chapter 66 Visiting the Preston Mansion
Gary tensed up.
“I’m ready.”
Lisette’s calm voice extinguished any lingering romantic feelings he had.
He reached out, wrapped his arms around her, and gently caressed her cheek.
Lisette felt his warm breath and closed her eyes, gripping the hem of his pajamas around his waist.
As he leaned closer, he kissed her forehead.
Then, he pulled away and said, “Alright, get some sleep!”
With that, he drew her close, wrapping his arm around her waist.
Lisette opened her eyes.
In the darkness, she couldn’t see much but could hear Gary’s strong, steady heartbeat.
She then closed her eyes again.
The next morning, Ernest had people up early preparing for the visit.
Even though everything was organized ahead of time, it still didn’t feel quite right.
After several hours of bustling around, his youngest daughter, Scarlett, arrived, and he finally settled down.
“Dad, you’re getting old. Don’t overwork yourself,” she said, helping him to the sofa.
At nearly 80, Ernest couldn’t keep up with the younger generation.
But he remembered something and asked, “Has William arrived?”

Scarlett thought he was eagerly awaiting Gary and his fiancée but was surprised when he mentioned William. She was both amused and exasperated. “Dad, today it’s Gary and his fiancée coming to see you, not William.”
“I know. I called William earlier and told him to come today.”
Scarlett was surprised. “What’s William coming for? He’s busy.”
Ernest gave her a sharp look. “No matter how busy he is, he must come! He has to be here!”
With that, he used his cane to walk outside to check on William.
Watching her father leave, Scarlett couldn’t help but laugh.
Even if Gary had a family now, William might not be in a rush.
After Ernest went out and didn’t see William, he felt the need to call him again.

Since he learned that Gary was bringing his fiancée, he had been calling William every day to ensure he
would come.
“Hello, Grandpa.”
“William, it’s almost 9:00 AM. Are you on your way?”
Ernest had woken up before 5:00 AM.
So, 9:00 AM was already late for him,
William checked the time. “Grandpa, I’ll be there in about an hour.”
He had just gotten off the plane.
“An hour? Why the delay?”
Ernest wasn’t pleased with having to wait longer.
“Well, I just got off the plane.”
Ernest frowned. “Why didn’t you come earlier?”
He felt annoyed.
“I’ve been busy.”
Ernest scowled, realizing it was pointless to argue further. “Alright, hurry up. Gary and his fiancée are arriving soon.”
He had just received word that Rhonda would be arriving shortly.
“Okay.”
After hanging up, William looked out the window at the clear, blue sky. It was a beautiful day.
Less than half an hour later, Rhonda’s car arrived at the Preston Mansion.
The driver got out and opened the car door.
Several people emerged from the car, and Lisette gazed at the old–fashioned house in front of her.
It seemed like a relic from the past.
Feeling a bit anxious, she clutched her bag tightly.
Soon, Gary took her hand.
She looked at him, and he said softly, “Don’t worry. Grandpa Ernest is kind and gentle.”
Gary had explained that the main reason for today was for Lisette to meet Ernest, who was old and had hoped to see him settle down.
Despite that, Lisette was still nervous.

“I’ll do my best not to be nervous.”
Gary smiled at her sincerity.
Rhonda observed them and felt pleased.
“Ms. Rhonda is here!”
A maid hurried in to report, but Scarlett had already helped Ernest out.
Rhonda hurried over to help Ernest. “Greetings, Ernest.

Ernest looked at Gary and Lisette as they walked in from the sunlight. They looked like an ideal couple, almost too perfect.
Scarlett’s eyes lit up when she saw how well–matched they appeared.
Gary wore a white shirt and light gray trousers, looking elegant and handsome. Lisette was in a light green dress with her long hair flowing down her back, looking calm and graceful.
They made an impressive pair.
Ernest nodded in approval.
“Ernest, she’s Lisette Connor, Gary’s fiancée.”
Once they were seated, Rhonda started the introductions.
Ernest examined Lisette, noting her delicate features and clear eyes, recognizing her as a good woman.
“Great.”
Rhonda told Lisette, “Lisette, you can call him Grandpa Ernest.”
Lisette obediently addressed, “Nice to meet you, Grandpa Ernest.”
Her gentle voice made everyone around her speak softly as well.
Scarlett looked at Gary and Lisette’s clasped hands and joked, “Gary told us he spent five years chasing after a girl and still hadn’t caught her. I was curious about what kind of girl could make such a talen d man struggle in love. Now I understand.”
Her comment was meant as praise, not an insult.
Lisette was surprised. “Five years?”
She glanced at Gary.
She remembered that five years ago, they had only met briefly, with their deeper relationship starting two years ago. How could it be five years?
Gary, feeling slightly embarrassed under her gaze, clenched his fist and coughed. “Aunt, I admired her Secretly for three years and then pursued her for two.”
Scarlett landhed heartily surprised that he admitted it She turned to Frnest and said “Dad I don’t think

she can escape!”
Ernest laughed. “Of course she can’t!”
Rhonda joined in the laughter.
Lisette blushed, and Gary looked at her affectionately.
The atmosphere in the living room was warm and joyful.
After chatting with everyone, Gary decided to take Lisette outside.
If he didn’t, her face would continue to flush red.
The family enjoyed teasing him, which he could handle, but Lisette was shy and struggled with it.
“Please don’t mind. My family loves to joke around.”
Lisette shook her head, looking at him brightly. “It’s okay.”
She felt like she was part of the family.
“Let me show you around.”
“Sure.”

They walked along a path made of stones, flanked by neatly trimmed lawns and various flowers and plants, showing Ernest’s love for gardening.
As they walked, Gary chatted with Lisette about interesting topics, and her blush gradually faded.
Suddenly, his phone rang.
“I’ll take this call,” Gary said.
“Sure.”
He stepped aside to answer.
Lisette looked ahead and saw a black luxury car driving through the ornate gate.
