Chapter 40 He Wants to Care for Her Forever
Mabel walked over and said. “He’s probably gone to see his girlfriend.”
Her words hinted that she knew Gary quite well.
Rhonda’s eyes lit up and she asked, “Mabel, have you met her?”
“No. 1 just caught a glimpse by chance; I only saw her from the side.”

Rhonda immediately pulled Mabel aside. She was brimming with excitement and pressed, “What is she like? Describe her to me!”
“I didn’t see her face, but from what I saw, she seemed like a gentle and quiet girl.”
“Quiet is good; quiet is perfect for our Gary!”
Mabel smiled. Tonight, it wasn’t just Rhonda who was happy–she was too.
Upstairs. William stood on the balcony, holding a glass of red wine, gazing into the distance.
Meanwhile, Gary quickly arrived at the Tiffani Hotel. He stood outside Lisette’s room.
He called her and said, “Lisette, I’m outside your door. Can you open it?”
“Okay.”
Lisette got out of bed and opened the door. As soon as it opened, Gary appeared before her.
Though she had heard he was coming, seeing him there in front of her was still difficult to believe.
She asked, “What are you doing here?”
Gary walked in. He closed the door behind him and touched her forehead. His brow quickly furrowing and he said, “You’ve got a fever.”
Her face was flushed.
Lisette nodded and said, “It’s nothing, just a mild fever.
When he called her the first time, she was already running a slight fever, but she didn’t mention it, not wanting him to worry.
Lisette, you make me worry sick about you?
Hearing her downplay the situation made him want to scold her, but seeing her weary face, he couldn’t bring himself to do it
Lisette smiled weakly and said, “Dude, it’s just a cold, nothing serious.”
Gary didn’t want to hear any more; he feared if she kept talking, he’d get upset.
“Lie down.”

“Over there.
She pointed to the bedside table.
Gary grabbed the medication and looked through it. He frowned and asked, “No fever reducers?”
“No, I wasn’t running a fever when I bought them.”
“Stay put. I’ll be right back.
He left the room and took the key card with him. Gary urged, “Sleep for a bit; I’ll be back soon.”
“Okay.”
The room was dark, but Lisette felt safe and quickly fell asleep.

Gary went to the pharmacy, buying fever reducers, a thermometer, and some other cooling items. He bought everything in one go.
By the time he returned, Lisette was already asleep, but her face was even redder.
He quickly took her temperature. It wasn’t dangerously high, but it couldn’t go on like this.
He went to the bathroom, grabbed a towel, soaked it in warm water, and placed it on her forehead.
Then he took out some alcohol and cotton balls and gently wiped her palms and the soles of her feet.
He kept at it without stopping.
After two hours, her fever finally broke and her breathing steadied.
Gary sighed in relief. He brushed her sweat–soaked bangs away to reveal her smooth, full forehead.
A simple cold had left her looking so worn out, and it made his heart ache.
Why didn’t she take better care of herself? If he could, he would stay by her side all the time and look after her.
At the Preston Mansion, Ernest listened as Rhonda told him that Gary had gone out to see his girlfriend. He immediately said, “Tell him to bring her over tomorrow!”
He wanted to met the girl.
Rhonda also wanted to meet the future girlfriend, but she hesitated. “He might not want to.”
Ernest said dominantly, “Even if he doesn’t, he has to! You figure out a way to make him bring her over Tomorrow, even if it’s just to make me happy!”
Alright, I’ll do my best!”
