On the other end of the line‘ Mabel’s familiar voice was filled with joy. She asked “When will you arrive?”
“An hour.”
When William said an hour‘ it was always exactly one hour.
“Alright‘ everyone is here. We’re just waiting for you.”
“What’s got you so happy?”
Her voice brimmed with uncontrollable excitement.

Mabel sensed the silence and tightened her grip on the phone. She said, “You might lose this one!
William gazed out of the window, a face slowly materializing in his mind–stubborn, aloof, and angry.

After Lisette got home, she immediately fell asleep.
She hadn’t slept all night. When she could finally relax, exhaustion overtook her.
After two hours, her phone rang and woke her up.
“Hello?” she answered groggily.
“Lisette, pack your things. I’ll pick you up in half an hour.”
“For what?” she mumbled, her eyes still closed, and her voice was unclear due to her sleepy state.
Her eyes were dry, and she had no desire to open them.

Just as she was about to hang up, Frank stopped her and said, “Lisette, are you sure you’re okay?”

“Okay then.”
After hanging up, Lisette took a quick shower, which made her feel much better. She packed her things, applied a light makeup, and felt more awake.
As soon as she stood outside her apartment building, Frank’s car appeared in the distance. It pulled up right in front of her.
The trunk popped open, and she put her luggage inside before getting in the car.
Frank glanced at her and said apologetically, “Sorry for making you work so hard.”
Her eyes were a bit red, even with makeup.
Lisette smiled and said, “If you feel bad, just give me a bigger bonus.”
“No problem! I could even throw myself in as a bonus!”
Lisette said, “No need for that.”
Two hours later, the plane landed in Divale. By this time they landed, it was already past 5 PM.
Lisette had slept during the flight, feeling much better but also quite hungry.
Frank suggested, “Let’s grab a bite at the hotel and get some rest. We’ll meet with Jason first thing in the morning.”
“Sounds good.”
The car soon pulled up to the Tiffani Hotel.
“I got a tip. Frank said with a grin. “Jason’s staying at this very hotel.”
Lisette chuckled and said, “Looks like I’m riding on your coattails again.”
The Tiffani Hotel was the best in Divale..
If this wasn’t luck, then what was?

Lisette took the room key and walked straight in, leaving Frank outside.
Frank rubbed his nose and wondered whether he had frightened her.
As Lisette unpacked, she noticed a slight soreness in her throat–likely the start of a cold.

She coughed lightly and touched her forehead. To prevent it from getting worse, she decided to buy some medicine later.
Frank soon knocked on her door and called her to dinner. Lisette grabbed her bag and headed out.

When it came to food and fun, Frank was the expert. He quickly led her to a restaurant known for its authentic Creole cuisine.
Creole cuisine had a bold flavor that Frank loved.
Lisette’s hometown was in that region, so both of them shared a love for the cuisine.
After dinner, Lisette’s throat pain worsened. Frank noticed; he immediately took her to a pharmacy to buy some medicine.
By the time they returned to the hotel, Lisette’s head was already starting to ache..
That was the thing about colds–they come on suddenly and leave them very little time to react.

As she was closing the door, she held it for a moment and said seriously, “If I really don’t feel well‘ I’ll call you.”
Lisette made an OK gesture and shut the door.
Feeling slightly feverish, she went to the bathroom, washed up, and took her medicine before lying down.
She soon drifted off into a sleep.
