Two hours later, the plane landed in Divale.
As soon as Gary stepped off the plane and exited the airport, he saw Rhonda waiting outside.

The moment she spotted him, she hurried over, her eyes scanning behind him. “Where is she?” she asked, her gaze darting around.
Ernest had always lived in Divale and he naturally expected everyone to come home for his birthday
celebration.
Rhonda had arrived two days earlier, just yesterday, to be exact.
She was already here to pick up Gary.
Rhonda had been eagerly anticipating seeing Gary return with the girl he liked, but to her surprise, he was alone.
Refusing to believe it, Rhonda continued to search the area, hoping to spot Gary’s girlfriend.
However, Gary sighed. “Mom, she didn’t come.”
Rhonda glared at him and asked, “Didn’t I tell you to bring her? Ernest is really looking forward to meeting her.”
She had already mentioned it to Ernest.
By now, everyone in both families knew about Gary’s affection for someone.
Gary was helpless. He gently pushed Rhonda toward the car and said, “Mom, it’s not the right time yet.”
“Not the right time?!” Rhonda’s eyes nearly bulged out, and she asked in disbelief. “You’ve already shared a bed, and it’s not the right time? Are you waiting until there’s a baby to make it the right time?”
She was agitated and raised her voice, which attracted the attention of people nearby.
Gary found himself in deep trouble. He quickly ushered Rhonda into the car and said, “Mom, we didn’t do anything.”
Rhonda was skeptical..
How could she believe nothing happened when they had slept in the same bed?
Absolutely not.
Trying to change the subject, Gary asked, “Has William and Mabel returned?”
“William hasn’t arrived yet, but Mabel has.”
“Huh? Weren’t they together?”
“William must have some business to attend to, so he’s running late.

“Don’t try to change the subject. Are you the same as William, trying to avoid getting married? Is that why you’re delaying this?”
Gary was at a loss for words.
Ernest’s birthday celebration was scheduled for the following day at a hot spring resort, but the entire family had already gathered today, a day ahead of the event.
Tonight would be the real birthday celebration for Ernest.
With Rhonda’s nagging still ringing in his ears. Gary headed home to freshen up before visiting Ernest.
By the time he arrived, almost everyone had gathered, except for William.
Mabel was inside playing poker with Rhea.
The Prestons were large and had many branches. Despite this, Ernest had only two sons and a daughter. His oldest son, Hugo Preston, had a daughter. Sean Preston, the second son, also had a son, while Scarlett Preston, the youngest daughter, likewise had a son. Each of his children had only one child; it was not a large family by any means. But to Ernest, it was more than enough.
On such a day, everyone was home, and the atmosphere was lively. Some were chatting, others playing with the children, and some playing chess, making for a warm and bustling scene.
When Rhonda and Gary arrived, Ernest and Sean had just finished a game of chess, with Sean emerging victorious.
“Hey, Ernest, Gary called out.
Ernest immediately looked up at the sound of Gary’s voice. He asked, “Gary, is that you?”
“Yeah.
Ernest hurriedly beckoned him over and said with a warm smile, “Come here. It’s been a while since I last saw you. Let me have a good look.”
Gary kneeled on one knee and let Ernest take a close look at him.
Ernest patted Gary’s face. He took a good look at him and nodded in approval. The old man said, “Not bad; you’re getting more and more handsome.”
Suddenly, something came to mind, and Ernest glanced behind him. He asked, “Where’s your girlfriend?”
Gary froze. “Uh?”
Ernest glared at him and asked, “Don’t tell me you didn’t bring her.”
Realizing what had happened, Gary couldn’t help but ugh helplessly. He said, “Don’t listen to Mom. There’s no such thing.
Seeing his expression, Ernest pointed at him and turned to Rhonda. “Is this boy shy?”
Rhonda chuckled and said, “It seems so,”
Gary was rendered speechless.

He handed the box to Ernest and said, I’m still working on winning her over. This is a gift from her. She wishes you excellent health and happiness.”
Ernest beamed joyfully and said, “She has already sent gifts, but still you claim you haven’t won her favor
yet.”
Gary’s ears turned slightly red.
Rhonda teased, “Now he’s really blushing.”
Ernest burst into hearty laughter.
His laughter attracted the attention of everyone inside, and they all came out to see what had brought such joy to Ernest,
When he learned it was about Gary’s future wife, everyone joined in on the fun and teased him endlessly.
By the end, Gary’s face was genuinely flushed from all the teasing from his elders.
Meanwhile, Mabel watched the lively scene unfold and smiled. She picked up her phone and dialed a
number.
