Chapter 32 Is This a Woman’s Hair?
She removed the only dress she was wearing and revealed her flawless figure to William.
Mabel had nothing on underneath that dress.
She had come prepared.
William stood up and lifted her chin. He asked, “When did you become so insecure?”
Tears welled up in Mabel’s eyes as she embraced him tightly. She said, “You’re the reason I became insecure!
Lisette woke up feeling awful.
Her head ached, her eyes were sore, and she felt completely drained, like she had been hiking for days. It was an uncomfortable sensation.
Gary walked in just as she was rubbing her temples. He smiled as he asked, “You’re awake?”
Lisette glanced at him. He was carrying a bowl of chicken soup.
“Here, I made some chicken soup to help you feel better.”
Lisette’s mind was still fuzzy. She couldn’t quite recall how she had behaved the previous night after getting drunk. Had she done anything embarrassing?
When Gary offered her the soup, she drank it.
After drinking, she felt slightly better and asked, “I didn’t do anything crazy last night, did I?”
She had never been drunk before and had no idea how she acted when she was.
Lisette did know she had a low tolerance for alcohol.
Gary chuckled and asked, “Do you really want to know?
The amusement in his eyes made Lisette a bit nervous. She asked, “I didn’t do anything embarassing right?
Gary pretended to think seriously before nodding and laying, “You did.”
“What?”
“You almost tackled me, trying to take advantage of me
Huh?”
No way!

Gary patted her head and continued, “Listen to everything I have to say before you jump to conclusions.”
Lisette looked at him, wide–eyed.
Gary said with utmost seriousness, “Luckily, I stood my ground, so you didn’t succeed.”
Lisette sighed in relief, only to quickly realize that something was amiss. She asked, “Are you messing with me?”
She didn’t believe she was the type to lose control when drunk.
Gary stood up and asked, “Hmm? I thought you’d figure it out after you got home, but it seems you’ve sobered up already.
“I had someone prepare some clothes for you. Change into them and come down for breakfast.”
He gave her a light tap on the head before turning and walking out.
Lisette looked at the closed door, then at herself–still in last night’s dress, unchanged.
She smiled to herself; Gary liked to tease her sometimes.
The bedside table held the clothes. Before heading downstairs, Lisette changed into them and freshened
- up.
“Join me and have some breakfast,” Gary said. He placed the breakfast on the table and beckoned for her to join him.
“Okay.”
Lisette sat down. The table was set with a light breakfast of grits and a refreshing salad, perfect for the morning after drinking.
As they ate, Gary checked the time. He said, “It’s the weekend. Do you have any plans?”
“Yes, I need to work on the fall collection designs.”
Gary sighed helplessly and asked, “No rest at all?”
“I’ll rest once I finish these designs.”
“Alright, I’ll take you home.”
They tidied up and left.
Not long after their car had pulled away, a white luxury car drove up to the house.
Rhonda stepped out, carrying bags of fresh fruits and vegetables from the trunk.
It was the weekend and she planned to cook a nutritious meal for her son, something special to keep him healthy.
Surprisingly, he had already left so early in the morning.
She called Garu

Gary had just parked outside Lisette’s apartment.
“Let me take this call,” he said.
“Sure.”
Gary answered, “Mom.”
“Son, where did you run off to so early this morning?”
It was the weekend. She didn’t want to hear that he was working today, or she’d be upset.
Just taking care of something, Mom. Why?”
“You’re not working, are you?”
“No, I’m with a friend.”

“A friend?” Rhonda immediately thought of something and asked, “Is it that girl you like?”
Gary cleared his throat and glanced at Lisette. He said. Mom, I’ll be home soon.”

Rhonda understood immediately and said, “It’s fine. You enjoy your time with your friend. I’m just checking in.
She hung up quickly and felt elated.
Yes, if he likes someone, he should go for it. They could get married, have kids, and maybe by next year, she could be a grandmother.
Rhonda decided against cooking for Gary. Instead, she put the groceries in the fridge and tidied up as usual.
After a while, she went to Gary’s bedroom, where she noticed a long hair on his pillow. Rhonda picked it
- up.
This was definitely a woman’s hair.
