Chapter 30 You’re Drunk
The car window slid down, revealing a notably handsome face.
“Lisette.”
Lisette blinked in surprise. “Gary?”
He stepped out of the car and placed his coat over her shoulders.
“Get in.”
She nodded, and they both climbed into the car.
It then smoothly pulled away from the hotel.
As the vehicle drove off, a figure appeared on the balcony of the hotel’s third floor.
Dressed impeccably in a suit and holding a phone, it was none other than William.
“William, when will you be back?”
“In an hour.”
“Alright, I’ll wait for you.”
The call ended, and William slipped his hands into his pockets, staring out into the night.
His gaze was intense, concealing a whirlpool of emotions beneath his dark eyes.
As the night scenery passed by, Lisette cracked the window slightly, allowing a breeze to enter.
Gary glanced at her. “Is something wrong?”
She hadn’t spoken since getting into the car, and her mood seemed off.
Lisette shook her head. “Gary, why is it that people can only forget after losing their memory?”
If only forgetting were as simple as wishing for it.
It would alleviate so much suffering.

The car was silent for a moment before Gary responded. “Forgetting is like making a deal with the devil- you gain something, but you lose something in return.”
Lisette’s lips curved into a sad smile. The pain in her eyes seemed to diminish as she turned to him. “Gary, I didn’t expect you to be so philosophical.”
The traffic light turned red, and Gary brought the car to a gentle halt. He turned to her with a look of genuine concern and warmth. “How about a drink?”
She was clearly struggling, and she needed a way to release her frustration.
Bottling it all up wasn’t going to end well.

Lisette paused for a beat, then offered a small smile. “That sounds good.

Just so you know, I can’t hold my liquor. If I end up getting a bit tipsy and acting silly, you’ll have to put up
with it.”
That’s fine with me. He chuckled
The car arrived at a villa’s garage in Guerene Bay.
They got out, and Gary, smiling, asked, “Are you scared?”
Lisette looked confused. “Scared of what?”
“Of me having ulterior motives.”
Lisette froze for a moment before bursting into laughter.
“You?”
She pointed at Gary with a genuine, warm smile.
Gary nodded, his expression serious. “Is it so hard to believe?”
“It is. You’re not a bad person. I trust you,” she said.
Gary sighed. “With that kind of trust, even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t have the chance.”
Lisette laughed again.
It was her first visit to Gary’s home, but as she had said, she had complete trust in him.
Gary retrieved a bottle of prized wine from his collection and brought out two crystal glasses.
“This wine was a gift from a friend. He claimed it helps people unwind and forget their troubles.”
“Sounds magical.”
“That’s what he said, but since I’ve never tried it myself, I can’t confirm it.”
He poured the wine into the glasses.
The deep red liquid shimmered beautifully.
For a moment, Lisette was reminded of William holding a glass of wine elegant, refined, and alluring.
The compliments she had heard about him seemed justified.
Gary handed her a glass, and she took it, drinking it quickly.
She didn’t want to think about him–at all.
Gary observed her, slightly surprised, then settled beside her, sipping his own glass of wine.
He didn’t press her for details, simply remaining quietly by her side.

Lisette drank more, finishing half the bottle. Soon, she was sprawled on the sofa, her vision hazy from the alcohol
She was clearly drunk, her head spinning.
Gary sat down on the carpet, watching her flushed face. You’re drunk.”
Lisette’s eyelids fluttered open. “I am.”
Unlike most people who denied their drunkenness, she was openly acknowledging it, leaving Gary uncertain whether her state was genuine or put on.
“I’ll help you to bed.
He set his glass aside and helped her up.
She was surprisingly compliant, more so than usual, and very cooperative.
Gary couldn’t help but chuckle, despite the circumstances.
She had mentioned that she might create a scene when drunk, but the reality was quite different.
However, Gary suddenly froze.
