From Mrs. Perfect to Miss Nobody
Chapter 29 Mr Preston, We’re Divorced
Lisette was overwhelmed, more so than the last time she’d encountered William.
She couldn’t shake the feeling that Kurt’s appearance here was intentional.
Her instincts told her he was here specifically for her.
But who else could have sent Kurt if not William himself?
What did
What did he want?
Lisette shut her eyes, trying to collect herself.

After a moment of deep breathing, she focused on the stuck zipper of her dress, hoping for a bit of good fortune.
She sucked in her tummy and managed to pull the zipper up from her lower back.
She adjusted her appearance in the mirror, her complexion returning to its normal shade, though her smile had faded.
She was still Lisette, but she wasn’t the same person she had been two years ago,
As she stepped out, Kurt, who had been facing away, turned and acknowledged her with a nod. “Ms. Connor.
Lisette met his gaze with a guarded expression. “Mr. Stevenson, is there something you need?”
Kurt presented a check. “Yes, Mr. Preston asked me to deliver this to you.”
Lisette looked at the check, momentarily surprised. Her lips curled into a cold smile. “What’s this?”
“Mr. Preston mentioned that if you’re experiencing difficulties, Ms. Connor, you should feel free to reach out to him instead of doing things against your wish. After all, you were once married.”
Difficulties… do things against my wish… once married…
The implication was clear. Lisette was now with another man, and it was seen as humiliating to William.
Lisette’s smile widened, but it was frigid.
“Mr. Stevenson, please inform Mr. Preston that I don’t need his help. Remind him that we’re divorced, and it’s best if we avoid any further entanglements to prevent unnecessary complications.”
With that, she turned sharply and walked away.
Her eyes were reddened, though she didn’t shed any tears.
Just as she was about to take a few more steps, Kurt’s voice followed her. “Ms. Connor, it would be better if you accepted 11.
Lisette’s hand clenched into a fist. She spun around. “And what if I dort?”

Kurt’s face remained expressionless. “Mr. Preston anticipated that you might refuse. He asked me to advise you not to be unsensible.”
Lisette’s face drained of color.
Unsensible…
So, if I don’t comply, would my situation be as it was two years ago?
But what more do I have to lose?
Lisette’s nails dug into her palm as she forced a bitter smile. “Then please tell Mr. Preston that I no longer wish to be sensible. If he prefers someone sensible, he should look elsewhere.”
And leave me alone.
She left in a hurry, slamming the door behind her with fiery determination.
William, Ionce admired you. Now, I see your true nature!
Kurt watched the door close and then dialed a number on his phone.
“Mr. Preston, Ms. Connor refused the check.”
William looked up, his gaze drifting to the second floor.
Lisette was quickly descending the stairs, her face pale and her eyes red.
Her lips were pressed together firmly, her expression a mix of defiance and anger.
“Alright.”
She asked me to tell you…”
Kurt hesitated, visibly uncomfortable,
“Go ahead.”
“She asked me to tell you
As Kurt’s words reached William, his eyes narrowed, and his expression darkened.
“Lisette?” Frank, heading upstairs to check on Lisette, saw her coming down with an upset look and immediately approached.
“Lisette, what’s wrong? You don’t look so well.”
Lisette, her voice tinged with apology, said, “Frank, I’m sorry. I’m not feeling well. I need to leave now.”
“I’ll give you a ride.”
“No, you’re busy. I can manage on my own.”
“But-”

“It’s fine. I’ll see you at the office.”
She hurried away, not giving Frank a chance to respond.
She needed some solitude.
品
The hotel was on the outskirts, with no taxis in sight–only luxury cars.
Lisette didn’t call for a car and walked straight ahead.
The cold wind blew, but she felt no chill.
Her heart felt even colder.
Suddenly, the sound of a car horn interrupted the silence behind her.
She stepped aside, only to see the car pulling up next to her.
