Therefore, when Yvonne came to see him, he proposed, “If you can help me find out if Jason has any interest in Iris, I’ll convince your parents not to arrange any blind dates for you for a year.”
Yvonne immediately agreed.
She then encouraged Ted to confess to Iris in a high–profile manner to provoke a reaction from Jason. If Jason liked Iris, he would surely be angry; if not, he wouldn’t care at all.
Earlier, Ted said that Jason was angry. That indicated Jason had feelings for Iris.
“Okay; I’ll give your parents a call,” the old man said, sitting comfortably in his rocking chair, swaying leisurely despite having just lost a chess match.
Yvonne sensed there was more to it than her grandfather let on. Crouching beside the rocking chair like a curious gossip, she asked, “Grandpa, what made you suspect Jason might have feelings for Iris?”
Professor Sandler looked at her and chuckled softly. “You know nothing.”
The reason he had shown Jason a photo of Iris and tried to match them up years ago wasn’t just because the two of them were his most outstanding students.
One time, he was giving Iris a private lesson when Jason came to visit. The look in Jason’s eyes
when he saw Iris…
When
you look at someone you like, it’s hard to conceal the affection in your eyes. Jason hid it well, but Professor Sandler still noticed.

However, six years had passed, and he wasn’t sure if those feelings had changed. Thus, he had hesitated to play matchmaker.
Yvonne’s test showed that Jason’s feelings had not changed.
Suddenly, a wave of sadness washed over him. “The more I think about it, the angrier I get. Why did she fall for Stanley Stein? Doesn’t she know who his teacher is? The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
Yvonne bit her lip, suppressing her amusement at her grandfather’s constant criticism of Professor Aston. However, he’s right about Stanley not being a good man.
“You’re right, Grandpa,” she said with a smile.
Professor Sandler closed his eyes to rest. “Water my flowers, please.”
Reluctantly, Yvonne rose to water the plants, not entirely pleased but unable to refuse the direct order from the head of the family.
Chapter 92
Iris was outside Jason’s office, pacing back and forth hesitantly before finally knocking.
“Come in,” Jason’s deep voice called from inside.
Taking a deep breath, she pushed the door open.
Upon seeing her, Jason replied dismissively, “I told you, you can just email me your resignation letter.
“Mr. Just,” Iris began, her voice sincere, “I’m sorry for what happened. Ted is my friend. He’s not a bad person, and he didn’t mean any harm. He only clashed with you because he’s protective of me. I apologize on his behalf.”
She bowed deeply, hoping to convey her sincerity
“He’s protecting you? Does that mean I’m abusing you?” Jason leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms. “You should go be the chief legal officer at his company. It pays well, and ‘there’s someone there to protect you This place is too small for you.”
Iris lowered her head. Jason looked like a benevolent man, so why was he being so petty? Was it really necessary to be this angry? Besides, wasn’t he the one who had given her the cold shoulder first?
Her hands clenched together, she said, “Mr. Just, I know I’ve made a mistake. Please give me another chance.”
She gritted her teeth, swallowing her pride.
“You’re quite popular, it seems. Yesterday, your old flame came. Today, a new suitor came. What about tomorrow?” Jason’s words dripped with a jealousy so strong that it felt almost tangible.
Iris looked up in confusion.
Why did his words sound so weird?
