Chapter 91
This job was crucial for Iris, especially as she was on the verge of being confirmed for a permanent position. With Ted creating such a scene, she risked upsetting her boss and losing that opportunity. A heaviness settled in her heart.
“Iris, go write the resignation letter…” Ted said.
“Ted!” Iris snapped, frustration evident in her voice. “Professor Sandler recommended this job to me. I value it highly and I’m working hard to prove myself. I can’t let him down again, especially after what I did for Stanley. If I disappoint him once more, I’ll never be able to face him.”
Ted’s mouth silently opened and closed. He was just unhappy with the way Jason treated Iris; he never intended to jeopardize her job.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do that,” he admitted, guilt washing over him.
“It’s okay,” Iris replied, her eyes stingir 3 with emotion. “You should leave. I have to work.” “Do you want me to apologize to your boss? That way, he won’t hold it against you because of me,” Ted offered.
“Don’t worry about it,” she said despondently as she made her way upstairs.
Watching her retreating figure, Ted felt a tightening in his chest. When he turned around, he saw the cleaning lady dismantling the bouquet of red roses and tossing his banner into the trash can. That broke his heart. He had hoped to surprise Iris, but instead, he had frightened her and possibly caused her boss to think less of her. She might even lose her job because of him. He knew he had caused trouble for her.
Upon leaving the law firm, Ted immediately called Yvonne.
The call connected quickly. Ted said, annoyed, “Thanks to your ridiculous idea, Iris is now in a lot of trouble.”
Although Yvonne was talking on the phone, her focus was on the chessboard in front of her. She replied nonchalantly, “Is Iris angry?”
“She’s not that upset; the bigger issue is her boss saw it and he’s very unhappy. She might lose her job. I shouldn’t have brought the flowers to her workplace; I should have taken them to her house instead.”
Yvonne made a move. “Checkmate! You lost, grandpa!” she chuckled lightly.
If Ted had taken the flowers to Iris‘ house, how could Jason see them? Yvonne thought to herself.
“Don’t worry; her boss won’t fire her,” she said confidently.
“Are you sure?” Ted asked, still worried.

Chapter 91
“Her boss and my grandfather are close. My word may not carry weight, but my grandfather’s does. So, relax,” she assured him.
Iris did mention that Professor Sandler had recommended her for the job. In that case, he could probably put in a good word for her. Thinking of that, Ted felt slightly reassured.
“No one knows Iris better than I do. She won’t stay mad at you for long. I’ll come up with a better plan for you,” Yvonne said with a sly smile.
Ted trusted her since she and Iris were indeed very good friends. “Alright. I really appreciate your help.”
After hanging up, Yvonne looked at her grandfather smugly. “Alright, grandpa, I did it. Can you please talk to my parents about the blind date now?”
She had gone on a blind date the previous day, but the man, despite being young, was already bald, with dark circles under his eyes. Those were clearly signs of excessive sexual indulgence. Yvonne was furious. She immediately went to her grandfather, hoping he could dissuade her parents.
Professor Sandler wanted to match Iris with Jason. However, he did not know how Jason felt about Iris.
