Chapter 90
Chapter 90
Ted looked hurt, unable to comprehend Iris‘ exasperation. Was she upset about the flowers, or was she upset with him?
Iris didn’t mean to hurt him. “Yvonne’s probably joking, but you took it seriously. I’m here to work, and I’m not even an official lawyer yet. People will laugh at me…“.

“No one would dare because I’m here with a business deal with your law firm,” Ted said earnestly. “I’ve dismissed my company’s legal department and plan to hire your firm to be in charge of my company’s legal counsel.”
Iris couldn’t believe her ears.
Ted continued, his expression serious. “Iris, I know I may not be your type, but I really, really like you. That’s why I want to do something for you. I know that you just started your legal career and there’s an internship period. If you bring in a big client for your firm, it’ll help you become a full–fledged lawyer.”
His intentions were genuine. He was just very dense in romantic matters. If not, he wouldn’t have thought that it was okay to do something like this.
However, his affection weighed heavily on Iris, and it had now become a burden. If she rejected him, she would look ungrateful, but she had no romantic feelings for him; he was just/ a schoolmate and a good friend.
“Ted…”
“Take me to the person in your firm in charge of legal counsel for businesses,” Ted interrupted, sensing that she was about to reject him.
Iris knew that dragging things out would do Ted no good. “Ted, I may never date anyone or get married again.”
With that, she turned to head into the firm. “So stop doing foolish things.”
It wasn’t worth sacrificing his company’s legal department for a romantic pursuit.
Ted responded, “Whether you accept me or not is up to you. But whether I pursue you or not is up to me.”
He would not give up that easily.
As they approached the entrance, Iris spotted Jason standing in front of the roses.
Sensing someone behind him, he turned around, his gaze sharp and scrutinizing when it landed on her.
Feeling as though she had brought negative attention to the firm, Iris said, “I’ll get some people to remove the flowers right away.”

The large bouquet was too big for a single person to carry. It was a task that required two people, and the banner also had to be taken down
“Come with me,” Jason instructed.
“My friend is here with a business deal for the firm. I’m taking him to see…”
“Then he should talk to reception; they’ll assist him. Why are you handling it?” Jason’s displeasure was palpable.
Ted, unable to stay silent any longer, interjected, “I’m a client, and I demand her assistance. Do you have a problem with that?”
Jason smirked. “I do. She’s not a formal lawyer yet and is not qualified to handle any business dealings. Besides, she’s my assistant. While she’s in this firm, her job is to assist me. All her work requires my approval. If she doesn’t want to do that, she can resign right now; I’ll approve it immediately.”
“Okay, she’ll resign,” Ted retorted angrily. “I’ll hire her as my company’s chief legal officer so she won’t have to put up with your attitude anymore.”
Iris quickly tugged Ted’s,sleeve, “I think you should leave.”
“Iris, he clearly has no respect for you. Resign and come to my company. I’ll pay you whatever you want,” said Ted.
Jason scoffed. When his gaze swept past Iris, there was a hint of disappointment in his eyes.
There were so many men around her. They kept coming, one after another.
“Email me your resignation letter,” he said, his voice dark and deep, like a bottomless pool.
Iris‘ heart skipped a beat.
