Chapter 87
At first, Dennis doubted his eyes, but upon closer inspection, he confirmed it was indeed his daughter. Instead of approaching her and intruding upon their meal, he returned to Cassie and asked, “Do you think our Iris is in a relationship again?”
Cassie replied nonchalantly, “She just got divorced. It seems too soon for that.”
Cassie knew how much their daughter loved Stanley. Even though they’re divorced now, she thought Iris wouldn’t move on and enter a new relationship so quickly. Moreover, finding the right person was challenging. Cassie had been keeping an eye out, but had yet to find anyone suitable for Iris.
“But I just saw her at a barbecue restaurant with a man,” Dennis stated.
Cassie’s interest piqued, “Really?”
He affirmed, “I saw it with my own eyes.‘
“Is the man good–looking?” she inquired.
“I didn’t see what he looked like,” he replied.
“Let’s go take a look,” Cassie suggested.
Dennis hesitated, “We can’t leave our stall unattended…”
“It’s fine, we’re just stepping away for a moment. Our daughter’s happiness is the priority here,” Cassie insisted.
She managed to persuade Dennis, and they headed to the barbecue shop. They hid behind a tree, and Dennis pointed out their daughter. Cassie could see Iris, but the man was facing away from them.
“I’ll move to the other side for a better view,” she said.
Dennis wanted to warn her to be careful to not get spotted, but Cassie had already walked away.
Upon seeing Jason’s face, Cassie’s eyes widened. Wow, he’s handsome! He’s even more good- looking than Stanley. But from his clothes, he’s probably not that rich.
Jason wasn’t wearing formal attire, but his casual clothes were still from top brands; Cassie just couldn’t recognize them. She thought wealthy individuals always wore suits.
When she returned to Dennis, he asked, “Did you see what he looked like?”
“Yes,” she confirmed.
“And you’re not happy?” he inquired, observing her expression.
“I am. I’m happy as long as he surpasses Stanley in some way, so that I can proudly tell him, ‘ Look, my new son–in–law is better looking than you,“” Cassie replied.

Finding someone wealthier and better looking than Stanley seemed impossible, at least within her social circle. Therefore, she would be happy as long as the man was better than Stanley in
one aspect.
Dennis was skeptical, “Did you really get a good look at him?”
“I did,” she insisted.
“Should we call our daughter to ask her about it? he suggested.
Cassie shook her head. “They may have just started dating. It’s best for parents not to interfere too early. We should just be happy that Iris could move on and accept someone new so quickly.”
Dennis agreed, relieved that his wife was considering their daughter’s feelings.
“We should tell Iris to come home for dinner sometime to gauge her attitude,” Cassie added.
Dennis looked at Cassie appreciatively, impressed by her thoughtfulness.
Meanwhile, Iris was unaware that her parents were watching her have dinner with Jason. She had no idea they mistakenly believed she was in a relationship.
After their meal, Iris intended to drive, but Jason took the keys and said, “I’Îl drive.”
Though hesitant, she climbed into the passenger seat.
Jason drove in silence. At a red light, he stole a glance at her. The outside light cast shadows on her, accentuating her fair skin and clear features, giving her an enchanting and mysterious allure.
