They sat facing each other, chatting.

Iris stared at them in disbelief. She wondered why they were here together. After all, they were not particularly close.
Denise asked, “Do you know them?”
“That’s my friend. Excuse me for a moment,” Iris said.
“No problem, go ahead,” Denise said with a smile.

Iris smiled back. “I came with a friend.”
Yvonne, glancing behind Iris, asked, “A friend? A man or a woman? I didn’t know you had other friends besides me.”
Ignoring her teasing, Iris simply said, “Can I talk to you for a minute?”
Yvonne stayed put. “We can talk here.”
Henry chimed in, “Yeah, it’s not like we don’t know each other. Whatever you want to say, you can say it in front of me.” He added half–jokingly, “You’re not gonna talk bad about me behind my back, are you?”
- Iris didn’t know what to say. She was indeed going to tell Yvonne that Henry was an irresponsible playboy As Yvonne’s friend, she felt like it was her responsibility to warn Yvonne.
“Do you have any virtues worth mentioning? All you have are flaws. Even if I wanted to tell Yvonne good things about you, I couldn’t, because you don’t have any,” she stated bluntly.
Henry was taken aback.
Yvonne leaned back on the sofa and tilted her head back. She had consumed a bit of liquor, but she had a high alcohol tolerance, so she’s probably just pretending to be tipsy. “Don’t worry about me, Iris. Let’s see who’s the player and who’s the plaything.”
Henry and Iris were both speechless.
Henry chuckled. “I don’t mind being your plaything. How about we go upstairs to play right now?”
“Sure…” Yvonne said, standing up.
Iris quickly grabbed her arm and said, “You’re drunk.”
She then glared at Henry. “She’s a very good friend of mine. Don’t try to do anything funny.”
Iris knew the things Henry had done in the past.
