Chapter 152
It turned out, Jason was his boss.
“Does that mean I can come here for free from now on?” Iris joked.
“Yes, for free, and you can come anytime. It’ll always be open to you,” Jason replied.
“Thank you,” Iris said.
Riding a horse was very relaxing. She really liked the feeling. As a lawyer, stress was a constant companion, so this was a great way to unwind..
As they drove into the city, Jason suddenly pulled over to the side of the road. Iris thought he might have a quick errand so she didn’t ask any questions. When he returned, he handed her a few boxes of medicine. It was then that she noticed there was a pharmacy nearby.
“Mr. Just, this…” Iris hesitated as she accepted the medicine.
“They’re medicine for promoting blood circulation and relieving pain,” Jason explained. He turned his focus back to the road as he restarted the car.
Iris was reminded of her discomfort, which made her gather her legs closer together “Thank you,” she said.
“Next time, ask the manager for a saddle,” he suggested.
He did not ride with a saddle because he did not like it, but he could do that because he was used to it. She was delicate and her skin was tender, so she definitely needed the comfort.
Iris looked down at the medicine boxes, touched by Jason’s thoughtfulness.
A week flew by, and it was a week that was very distressing for Iris because she hadn’t found a way to hold Ted accountable. But everything changed when Yvonne brought her some good news.
Ted was going to be convicted for a crime.
Iris was confused at first. “What? How?”
She hadn’t done anything. Why would he be convicted?
Yvonne smiled mysteriously.

“What the hell is going on?” Iris pressed.
Yvonne wiped the smile from her face and stared at Iris with a serious expression.
“Don’t look at me like that. You’re scaring me,” Iris said.
Yvonne rarely wore such a serious face, so Iris wondered what shocking news was about to be revealed.
“You must be wondering why Ted is being convicted, right? It’s simple – it’s because he committed a crime,” Yvonne explained.
“But he studied law; it’s difficult to find evidence against him…” Iris began.
“If you don’t have evidence, all you need to do is to create some,” Yvonne interrupted. “I’ll tell you what happened. When Stanley found out what Ted did to you, he was furious. So, together with Henry and Lester, he set a trap for Ted.”
Iris lowered her eyes at the mention of Stanley’s name. “What kind of trap?” she asked quietly.
“They drugged him and made a woman sleep with him, and then the woman accused him of rape. The Zeller family is currently facing bankruptcy and has no time to deal with his problem. I heard from Henry that Lester’s family has connections, which is why the case could reach a verdict so quickly.”
Yvonne had heard all this from Henry, who had exaggerated the story and omitted some details. He attributed all the credit to Stanley, knowing that if Yvonne knew, Iris would know too. He did not have a bad intention – he just wanted Iris to know what Stanley had done for her. 1
Neither he nor Lester could discover who was messing with Ted. If they couldn’t, then Iris definitely couldn’t either. Why not give all the credit to Stanley then? Perhaps this would give Stanley a chance to win back Iris.
Henry and Lester were trying to help Stanley because they knew he still loved Iris, even though he refused to admit it.
But as his good friends, Henry and Lester knew the truth. Stanley just couldn’t put his ego aside to admit that he still cared about Iris.
“Henry asked me for your address. I know it must be Stanley who wanted it, so I didn’t give it to him,” Yvonne continued. After what happened with Ted, she had become a lot more cautious. She would no longer trust someone easily, not even the people she knew well.

“I actually came for something else,” Yvonne said, meeting Iris‘ gaze. “I was asked by Henry to tell you that Stanley would like to see you.”
