Chapter 115

Chapter 115

After a while, Iris opened her eyes and wiped away the remaining tears

Sitting up, she stared blankly into space

She knew she shouldn’t feel sad because of Stanley anymore; he wasn’t worth it. Yet, letting go of seven years of feelings was akin to cutting flesh from her heart. It was a painful process. She could feign strength on the outside, but the agony within was something only she could understand

However, she believed that over time, the wound would heal, scab over, and eventually

recover

Determined, she stood up from the bed and walked to the window, hoping the breeze would clear her mind and calm her heart. Instead, she spotted Fiora walking handinhand with Stanley on the cobblestone path

Renee had arranged for Fiora to come. She wanted Iris to see that Stanley already had another woman, effectively nipping any possibility of reconciliation in the bud

Renee suspected Stanley’s encounter with Iris on Seine Mountain was part of Irisscheme. She believed that Iris wanted Stanley to see her with Ted in order to make Stanley jealous and thus ignite the spark of reconciliation

Renee must thwart any possibility of that happening

Many people could only dream of becoming inlaws with the Just family, yet Fiora had chosen her son. This was an opportunity Renee could not allow Iris to ruin

She only had one son, so all her hopes rested on Stanley. If only she had a daughter

The Just family’s eldest son was known as the Prince of the Capital. This title was not given to him lightly; the Just family’s wealth rivaled that of many nations. This young man was said to possess multiple degrees and exceptional intelligence, making him a highly soughtafter match among prestigious families. However, he was elusive and spent most of his time abroad, so most people had never seen him in person

Even if Renee had a daughter, she probably wouldn’t be able to pair her with the Prince of the Capital. She did not have that kind of connection

However, Renee had a handsome son. If Stanley was able to marry Fiora, the union would elevate the Steins to the pinnacle of the capital’s high society, overshadowing families like the Zellers, Sandlers and Parkers

Seine Mountain was a good place for vacation, with beautiful mountains and waters, far away

Renee hoped for a swift progression in Fiora and Stanley’s relationship. Wasn’t there a saying

Chapter 115

that love could spark in just three meetings

She believed that Stanley must have some feelings for Fiora; otherwise, why would he sleep with her

Fiora’s grip on Stanley’s arm tightened slightly as she asked, Does it still hurt?”

Stanley casually replied, No.”

How can it not hurt?Fiora paused, gently brushing her fingers over his lips with a pained look on her face. With bruises like this, how can it not hurt? Who did this to you? Let me know; I won’t let him get away with it.”

Her cute face currently had a fierce expression, which Stanley found amusing. What are you gonna do? Fight him for me?”

Fiora nodded vigorously. Yeah.”

With your petite frame?Stanley said, looking at her slender figure and dolllike face. It was hard to believe she could actually fight. Some people would even mistake her for a minor. Fiora tilted her head, looking adorable as she asked coquettishly, What about you? Would you bully me?”

Stanley looked up and unintentionally locked eyes with Iris. Their gazes met indifferent, the other startled

one

He opened his mouth as if to explain, but the words caught in his throat. She was too far away

he owed her no explanation. and they were already divorced

Noticing Stanley’s reaction, Fiora followed his gaze and saw Iris too

Her eyes narrowed

Her intuition as a woman told her that Stanley’s injury likely had something to do with Iris. From the look in Stanley’s eyes, she sensed lingering feelings for his exwife. Panic surged within her at this realization, prompting her to softly call out, Stanley.”
