Chapter 112
Stanley did not feel like replying. His gaze remained locked on Iris.
He had come to Seine Mountain because Professor Aston had informed him about an academic conference in the area. He had no desire to attend at first, but upon hearing that Yvonne would be here, he reconsidered. Knowing that Iris and Yvonne were close, he thought maybe Iris would be here too. This prompted him to make the trip.
Upon arrival, he discovered that Ted was also here. The reason Stanley had made his way to the hot spring was because he knew Iris and Ted were both there. He did not expect to overhear Ted bad–mouth him as soon as he arrived.
“Stanley, Fiora told me that you’ve been drinking a lot lately, and you often drink until you pass out. That’s not good for your health. Also, I’ve checked with the fortune teller; January 20th is a good day for engagement, so I’m thinking of holding your engagement ceremony with Fiora on that day. What do you think?”
“Can you stop speaking for a second?” Stanley snapped, the patience draining from his voice.”
have to go take care of something. Please go home.”
“Where are you going?” Renee yelled, irritated, but Stanley ignored her. (1
She dared not push him too hard. Four years ago, she opposed his marriage with Iris and stood her ground, and as a result, he said he would hold the wedding ceremony without his family. Not wanting to drive him away again, she had no choice but to relent.
She feared that applying too much pressure would backfire, resulting in serious consequences.
Meanwhile, Iris helped Ted climb into their car while Yvonne took the driver’s seat. Throughout the process, Iris never looked back at Stanley, but Ted made sure to lower the window and shoot Stanley a disdainful look after he got into the car.
Stanley’s hands clenched at the sight.
Renee noticed and couldn’t help but sneer. “The secondhand good is trying to pick up another rich man. I bet she seduced Ted. Now that you’re no longer her long–term ATM, she has to look for a new one.”
Stanley gritted his teeth. “Probably,” he said, as if he was trying to convince himself or soothe his ego.
Just days after their divorce, Iris was already flirting with Ted and Jason Just at the same time. What a fickle and unfaithful woman!
“What do you mean, ‘probably‘? Isn’t that clearly the case? If she hadn’t seduced Ted, would he have hooked up with her so quickly? She’s probably laughing at you right now, mocking you for fighting over her.”
She continued, “I can’t believe Ted would fight with you over a woman. You’ve been friends

for so many years. Maybe Iris is behind it–she might have provoked Ted to get into a fight with you. I’ve never trusted her; I always though she was a slut that was up to no good, and it turns out I was right.”
“Enough!” Stanley interrupted, his irritation rising.
He hated seeing himself like this.
“I don’t know what your problem is. You’re the one who agreed to divorce Iris, right? And you agreed to go on a date with Fiora when I asked you. Why are you looking so unhappy now? Are you regretting it? You’re an adult; the choices you make come with consequences. I’ll give you three days to figure it out.”
With that, Renee walked to her car. The driver opened the door for her, and she climbed in.
“Take me home,” she instructed.
“Yes, ma’am,” the driver replied.
After closing the door, the driver quickly took his seat and drove away.
Stanley, meanwhile, stood frozen in place.
