7 Chapter 97
Noah’s POV.
I tried to open my eyes but felt that someone had put a lot of weight on my eyelids. They felt so heavy.
Even moving a finger took almost all my strength, but I just hissed in pain. Every muscle of my body was now screaming pain.
What just happened to me?
Why I was in so much pain?
“Easy, son… you will not have an easy birthday if you kept on moving your body at this rate.” I heard my father teasing me, but it only made me feel more awful than I was feeling already.
“It…. It hurts.” I whimpered, resigning to my condition, and stopped struggling. “Yeah… that I know…. But… just open your mouth a little so that I can feed you some warm water. You will feel better.” He replied to me in a soft tone and instructed
me.
I obliged and slowly opened my mouth. It was also painful, but I bear it. Soon, a small amount of warm liquid filled my mouth. I gulped it with some difficulty, but it really soothed the ache that I was feeling in my throat.
He fed a few mouthful and the warmth of the liquid really helped me a lot. I tried to open my eyes one more time after some time when I felt a little better than when I woke up.
This time, I was able to open my eyes. “Beast, are you okay?” I called my wolf when I realized that I couldn’t feel his presence.
I blinked a few times, trying to adjust my vision against the bright light while calling Beast one more time when he didn’t reply to me.
“D… dad… I… I can’t contact Beast.” I told my father in a panicked tone. He immediately put his hand on my thigh, trying to relax me, and trust me, it worked.
“I know… you still have some wolfsbane in your system. Beast fought while having wolfsbane in your system, and that’s why, he is too weak to come out. Don’t worry. He will come out as soon as he regained his strength.” He explained calmly, but it didn’t sit well with me.
I was about to ask something when my father cut me off. “They modified the venom and included some more poisons, and wolfsbane was one of them. The only problem was that they used a high concentration of wolfsbane on you and Hunter.” He told me calmly and I took a deep breath.
But immediately my eyes widened in panic when Aurora’s face suddenly popped at the back of my mind. “Aurora… wh.. where is she?” I panicked again and tried to sit up.
“What the hell is wrong with you, Noah?” Dad scolded me a bit strained voice, but I immediately looked around. I breathed out in relief when I saw her sleeping on the next bed. “Is…. Is she also poisoned with wolfsbane?” I asked my father in an anxious tone when I remembered what he told me earlier.
“Unfortunately, yes… And the worst part is that the concentration was higher.” He answered me honestly, but the pain and worry on his face was clearly evident when he was skill enough to mask his emotions.
“Is… is she okay?” I asked him in an anxious tone again. “She didn’t wake up yet.” He answered in a very low tone, and I felt something churning inside my stomach so badly th.. that I wanted to puke. I looked back at her, and felt tears in my eyes.
“He is my mate, dad.” I whispered in an anxious tone. I heard him breathing out aloud. I still didn’t get it why this happened to us. She was a Luna Warrior, the only werewolf who never had a mate. Yet, I, the alpha whom she has to protect all her life,

“I am not handing the pack over to him for the time being. He needs to find his fated mate first.” I told him in a serious toe while looking at the closed door of his room. For certain reasons, we kept both Noah and Aurora in the same room. Martha wanted to stay here with them, but I sent her home to rest.
“This is a wise decision. You need to ensure his safety and also that he is strong enough to protect not only himself, but the pack too when the time comes. He…. He can’t depend on Aurora for his safety all the time, right?” Nevil replied to him in a
serious tone.
“You don’t worry…. He will take over when he will feel that he is ready for this.” I assured him and took a deep breath while closing my eyes.
“What about Hunter?” I asked him without opening my eyes after some time. My mind was still a mess, but I needed to stay calm for the next few hours. In the next three hours, it will be Noah’s birthday, and I didn’t want to take any risk this time.
“What about him?” Nevil asked me in a confused tone. “When will he take over?” I asked him in straight words this time.
I heard him sigh, making me open my eyes slowly. I looked at him slowly when I saw him looking towards Hunter’s room with a complicated gaze. “What is it?” I asked him while raising my brows.
“He He didn’t want to find his mate. He… he want to take Aurora as his chosen mate after her birthday.” He told me with some hesitation, and I immediately straightened my body in shock.
“What did you say?” I asked him while yelling in shock. “You heard me, Adrian….. he… he knows that Aurora will never have a fated mate because of her special condition. So, he…. He wants to take her as his chosen,mate. I… I don’t think that he will agree to leave her here to take over the pack.” He replied to me in a frustrated tone this time.
Ijust blinked while processing what he said. He once again ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. The silence between us was so tense that it could be cut by a knife. “Yo… you know Noah wishes for the same too?” I asked him in a very low voice, and he snapped his head towards me, widening his eyes in shock.
“No way.” He exclaimed and I just blinked harder, not knowing what to do with this situation. Both Noah and Hunter were young alphas, and we didn’t want any dispute between them because of Aurora, but it seemed that the situation wasn’t in our favour.

“Why are you here?” I heard Nevil questioning Troy in a confused tone. “This is the time of their medication. Didn’t you see the time?” Troy asked him in a confused tone while replying to Nevil. “O yeah.” I replied when I remembered about that.
I opened my eyes and straightened myself once again. “You need to observe Noah throughout the night as it will be his birthday soon. Although he has finished his first shift, but I am still hoping for a residual effect.” I instructed Troy this time in a serious tone while walking towards the room.

“You might be wrong, Noah. I.. I know that it’s your birthday today and you can recognize your mate but not without your wolf.” Dad said to me in a serious tone.
“It was Beast who recognized her right after we shifted completely.” I told him calmly while looking at my beautiful mate who was only a few feet away from me but I couldn’t reach her.
I couldn’t tell her that I am her mate because she was still underage, I really don’t know how I was going to survive until her birthday. Her scent was still intoxicated when she was under the influence of wolfsbane.
I wanted to touch her. I wanted to embrace her and tell her that everything will be okay. I don’t care what her role was decided by the Moon Goddess, but she is my mate, and I will always be here to protect her at any cost from now on.

“Don’t talk to me like that, pup. I am still your alpha.” He growled at me, but I just looked back in her direction. I was glad that she didn’t listen to my father-right now or else she would have agreed with him at this very instant.
There was tense silence in the room, but I didn’t try to talk with my father again. How could he suggest me rejecting her when he, of all the people, knew the pain of your mate leaving you better than any else.
What my father didn’t know was about how strained the relationship between me and Aurora was. I was afraid that she would reject me instantly once she recognizes me as her mate. What he didn’t know was what we had done to her all these

I watched her eyelashes fluttering with a painful squeeze in my chest by the mere thought of her rejecting me. I might be a powerful and legendary wolf, but I was nothing but a bully, a jerk in her eyes.
I looked in the direction of the door when someone knocked. The door opened and Troy, and Nevil entered the door. “How are you feeling, birthday boy?” Troy asked me in a teasing tone. I just smiled weakly and took a deep breath.
“It seems that you are now in pretty good shape to throw a party” He teased again while stopping near the bed, blocking my site. “This is the worst birthday anyone have, Troy. All my friends were now struggling to stay alive.” I replied to him bitterly and he raised his brows while taking my wrist.
“I won’t deny that they were critical when brought here, and they are still unconscious but they are out of danger now.” Troy told me while checking my pulse.
“So, let’s take it in a positive way. If it weren’t for you shift at the right time, they might be dead by now.” He twisted the truth of the event in a cheerful tone. “Yeah… if you say so.” I rolled my eyes and tried to look at Aurora once again.
“Troy is right, Noah. This pack is under constant attack and you could count yesterday as another day they chose to attack, not because it was close to your birthday, but because you and your friends were in a vulnerable state at that time. So, I agreed with Troy that if you didn’t shift on time, the situation might be worse for everyone.” Nevil also tried to explain the whole situation in a different way.
“How are they?” I asked Nevil in a worried tone. None of them had come to meet me yet and this was now making me anxious. “They are alright now, Noah. Weak….. but out of danger We are hoping that they would be able to wake up by this evening, and yeah… we will be able to celebrate your birthday.” Nevil replied to me, and winked in the end.

My heart skipped a beat and I slowly looked at my father who had a stoic expression on his face now. It meant that she was still in a critical condition and they can’t say whether she would be able to survive or not, right?
Troy walked to her, and checked her vitals too. I saw her knitting her brows as if she were in pain. I wanted to go to her immediately and comforted her but the pain that I had was still too severe that I couldn’t even move my fingers without feeling the pain.
