“If you say, I can administer sedative to him. It will provide him a temporary relief in pain.” Nevil suggested to me in a low tone, but I shook my head negatively. “But it can increase the level of pain as soon as he wake up again.” I replied to him in a flat tone.
“Yeah… this is the only drawback.” He mumbled, but I didn’t pay attention to him. Aurora and Noah were now lying beside each other facing each other as they were still holding hands. They were facing from different directions.
Noah was still whimpering in pain from time to time, but it was not as intense as it was in the night. I was now dreading about what will happen to him after midnight.
“Alpha.” I looked at Morgan and Clarke who were now standing in front of me. We covered the area from above, and that was why, it was still bearable to stay here in this hot weather. It was still mid-summer, and the temperature was high outside right now.

“We… we remembered that Noah half-shifted for the first time when … When Aurora’s mother died in front of us…… th… the pain was so unbearable to him that he passed out, hindering his shift, and that was why, he is facing this situation right now.” he explained further and I closed my eyes.
I didn’t want them to see the pain in my eyes, but I knew that I couldn’t mask my pain right now. “You can say that his body is refusing to proceed the shift because of that while his wolf is trying to escalate the shift.” He continued in a very low tone.
“Can we do something to escalate his shift?” I asked him in a painful tone. I slowly opened my eyes and saw them looking towards Noah. They were scared too. None of them experienced anything that could be counted as a phase of shifting at that time, still they were scared now.
“Yeah… T… there is one thing th… that can escalate his shift… B… but I don’t know if… if this is a good idea or not.” He answered me while stammering hard, still looking at Noah and Aurora. We were now standing under a tree, a little far from them as we didn’t want to wake them.
“If… If we put someone very dear to him in a grave danger…. Dear enough to… to make him scared to the maximum extent that made him desperate to save that person.” He answered me, still stammering a little and they looked back at me.

“What did I say wrong? He has so many people around him. Our alpha is the only family that he has now but he has us… his friends…. Do you want to say that we should put our alpha’s life in danger?” Clarke asked him angrily while stating the facts.
“Did you forget Aurora?” Morgan asked while giving him a knowing look. I straightened my body immediately while snapping my head towards Aurora.
Aurora…. His protector an… And also his potential mate…. what if she is really his mate?????
In that case…. The instinct of saving your mate from a coming danger will be strong enough to escalate his shift.
“So you want to say that we should put Aurora’s life in danger when she is in the most vulnerable state where she can’t even stand up on her own, only to make him tempted to save her?” Clarke asked Morgan in the same angry tone.

“I shouldn’t have use the word danger.” I heard Morgan mumbling something in an angry tone. “Send fifty warriors at that side and instruct them to make sure no rogue enter our border at any cost.” I gave instructions to everyone, especially
Abraham.
“On my way to the west side of the border, Alpha.” Hank replied to me through the pack-link in a calm tone. “Don’t let them come this side at any cost, Hank.” I urged Hank through personal mind-link.
“You don’t worry, Alpha. Jerome is with me while Abraham is holding the fort near the pack house, ready to move in any other direction if they plan to attack from any other side.” Hank replied to me, explaining the situation to me.
I was glad that I had friends and colleagues like them with me. They were like pillars to me. “I am counting on you, my brother.” I answered him with all my sincerity.
Hunter and Frank who were also sleeping around them also woke up and were now hovering over Noah and Aurora while looking around frantically. “Relax, pups… they are still far from us.” I assured them while entering the temporary tent that they put here.
“What about rogue vampires?” Frank asked me in a worried tone. “We are looking for them. For now… we just spotted rogues.” I answered him with an assuring smile, but his question took me off guard. “Jerome, Hank….. Look for vampires too. I am sure that they should be there too, hiding themselves well somewhere.” I instructed them through personal mind-link.
“On it, Alpha,” They both answered me in unison. “I…. I think we should call the pack witch and ask her to cast a spell on this tent so that they can’t see them.” Frank suggested while going out of the tent. “Good idea.” I mumbled and immediately mind-link Abraham.
“Ask Jennifer to come here right now.” I instructed him calmly. “Dad.” I immediatley looked at Noah when he called me in a very weak voice. Aurora also woke up and looked at Noah worriedly.
“You are okay, son…. everything is okay…. everything is okay.” I comforted him immediately while squatting down beside him on the other side. He whimpered once again in a very meek voice.
He was truly exhausted and I was scared that he would pass out at any time soon. “You try to sleep, Noah…. we are here…. we are with you…. you are not alone in this.” Aurora comforted him too in a sleepy tone while I kept on rubbing his arm to give him some comfort through physicla touch,

“Why am I sensing rogues around us?” Noah asked me in the same tone, but opened his eyes slowly. I gasped in shock when I saw the changes in his eyes. He had a silver ring around his balls just like Aurora defined them a week ago.
“Rogues?” Aurora immediatley exclaimed in fear and looked around. “Relax, pups…. the situation is under control. Ther is no way that we will let them touch you here.” I assured them in a stern voice.
