Chapter 12
Aurora’s POV.
I hugged her lightly while looking at Joey’s almost lifeless face. Tears were now streaming down but there was a foul smell in them. I was now squatting down beside the bed, stroking her hair lightly but I felt that this small act of concern was draining my energy rapidly.
Suddenly the monitor connected to her body started beeping rapidly, startling both me and Betty. “Mom.” She screamed in panic, and I tried to get up but my head spun so hard that I. lost my balance. At the same time, Joey’s body started convulsing.
“Aurora step back.” I heard someone yelling at me, but I grabbed my head while falling backward. I was sure that I would be in a great pain after my fall, but someone caught me from behind before that. He held me tightly.
“Get out of the room.” I heard Troy yelling at the top of his lungs. “Betty!” I exclaimed in panic and tried to move away, still my head spinning hard. “She is okay… Let’s go.” Noah told. me in a low tone while dragging me out of the room with him.
“Mom…… Mom… don’t go.” I heard Betty crying at the top of her lungs this time. She wasn’t just scared…. She was scared to death…. Just like I was when my mother left me alone in that dark room. I was so scared that I wouldn’t be able to see her again, and yeah…. I never saw her again.
“She… she needs me.” I said to Noah in a choked tone and jerked my head badly. He made me sit on a chair an
held me tightly into his embrace. “Bring her here.” Noah commanded the nurse who was holding Betty tightly into her embrace.
“Aurora…… Aurora.” Betty screamed my name in fear and almost jumped on me. I raised my hands to catch her immediately in panic, but Noah was faster than me. Both of us caught Betty at the same time. Betty held me tightly by my neck while hiding her face in the crook of my neck.
“Pat her nape.” I heard a very low and tired voice in the back of my mind. I did what she asked, knowing she was trying to help Betty. To my surprise, Betty calmed down as soon as t started patting her nape lightly.
“Calm down, love…. Calm down….. Calm down.” I comforted Betty while patting her nape, and collapsed in Noah’s embrace. “What’s wrong with you?” Noah asked me in a worried tone while holding both me and Betty.
“I… I don’t know…. My head is spinning badly, an. and I am feeling tired.” I replied to him truthfully while closing my eyes and rested the back of my head on his shoulder. “Check

her….. Sh… her head is spinning.” I heard Noah screaming at someone.
“What happened here?” I heard a thundered roar, shaking the whole area. “She… She is not well.” Noah answered Alpha Adrian. I heard them talking about me and Betty but their voices were distant. “You don’t worry…. We will be alright after some rest…. Everything is okay.” I heard my wolf consoling me in a very low and tired voice.
I smiled faintly and slowly my hands slipped from Betty’s body. “Take the pup to the other room. She slept.” Alpha Adrian instructed someone in a loud but worried tone. “Take her to that room. Why was she here? She shouldn’t be here?” Alpha Adrian continued screaming angrily but worry was clearly evident in his tone.
I wanted to tell him that I was okay, but soon, exhaustion took over my consciousness but I felt someone pulling Betty away from me before I fainted.
Noah’s P.O.V.
“I told you to take back home. Why did you leave her there, Martha? Why did
you put her
life in danger?” My father screamed at Martha while shaking badly in fury. This was the first time that I saw my father losing his temper this badly.

“She is okay, Adrian…. And…. And no one know what she did…. Not ever she herself.. let’s just keep this to us and forget what happened there.” Martha replied to my father in a stern voice but I furrowed my brows in confusion on her statement.
“Forget it????? Do you think others here are stupid or blind, huh? Joey’s condition is still critical, but she is saved, Martha. Do you think that they won’t try to find out what pulled her back from the bring of death?” he kept on yelling at her as if she had done a grave crime.
Martha sighed aloud this time but lowered her head instead of saying something back to my father. “Why can’t you understand the gravity of the situation, Martha? We…. We don’t know if… if this disease is just an… an accident or someone deliberately spread this in our pack. If the word goes out that Joey is saved after her visit, you know very well what danger she will be.” He said to Martha in a troubled tone while running her fingers through her hair.
“Do you think that she will be able to live peacefully after she comes to know that she can save those people, but can’t because it will put her in danger, Adrian…. She is born to face this danger. What do you think for how long you will be able to keep this a seeret, huh? Once she will attain her age, everyone will know about her…. Then what will you do?” Martha asked my father in a calm tone, but her statement stunned me.
“Wait… I… I really don’t understand what you guys are talking about?” I interrupted them when the whole situation overwhelmed me. They looked at me blankly but it didn’t baffle
me. “There is nothing for you to understand, Noah…. You go and make sure that no one talk

about what happened between Joey and Aurora.” My father replied to him, almost shrugging me off, and instructed me.
I grunted in disappointment and walked out of the room. “They are also making her live-in guilt for killing our Luna and others when that attack was not meant for her, Adrian. She is innocent. Still they tormented her for no reason. I never complained to you because Aurora never brought this to me. She endured everything because it’s in her nature to calm everyone down if they are in pain.”
I clenched my jaw while listening to Martha from the other side of the door. I went out but didn’t close the door so that I could listen to them. I froze when I heard Martha talking about our bullying to Aurora.
She knew…. She knew all these years….. she… she still never say a word to us…. B.. because Aurora never say a word to her……
“It doesn’t mean that I can’t defend her, Adrian. Heck… you know me very well what I am capable off.” Martha continued yelling at my father, and I just listened to their conversation blankly. “I didn’t interfere because she had to learn to defend herself because this is what an orphan must learn.”
I felt that I was struck by the lightening at the end of the her statement where she almost shook the whole building with her roar. “She is not an orphan, Mattha.” My father retorted this time. “She is, Adrian….. she has no parental figure in her life….. she is an orphan and she must learn how to face the reality….. this cruel world…. She…. She must learn not to trust anyone because one day your loved ones are the one who stabbed in your back.”
Her retaliation shook me to the core. “Let go, Noah… I… I can’t listen to this.” Beast pleaded to me, but my mind was completely blank by now. I didn’t even closed the door but ran away from there. We were in my father’s office in the pack house. Dad brought Aurora here after she fainted in the hospital this afternoon.
“Hey Noah.” Evan called me when I was about to run out of the pack house but I didn’t stop. Aurora was an orphan…… it… it wasn’t her choice… Why didn’t Martha never defend her? Why did Martha leave Aurora to mend her wounds? Why didn’t she stop us?
“Noah… Where are you going? Noah….. stop now.” I heard Evan yelling at me at the top of his lungs but I felt an urge to run away from there. All the veins in my mind were about to burst because of the guilt that I felt for Aurora today, but I was more upset about Martha’s coldness
towards this situation.
“Noah Evan screamed at the top of his lungs, making me stop running when I was almost at the edge of the cliff near the river. “Are you crazy? What has gotten you?” he yelled at me while yanking me by my shoulder. I just looked at him in a daze while trying to understand

“She is your cousin, right?” I asked Evan in a blank tone, making him frown in confusion. “Huh?” he uttered while looking at me in confusion. He was still holding me by my shoulder. “Aurora…. She is your cousin, right?” I repeated my question once again but anger started bubbling inside my heart for an unknown reason.
He looked at me with the same confusion. “Why did you never protect her when I was bullied her?” I screamed at the top of my lungs on him this time, and his eyes widened in shock. “She is not orphan….. She has you (I jabbed my finger in his chest), Martha… your… your parents…. Still we called her orphan….. why?……….. why?” I continued yelling at him in agony this time.
“Why?” I screamed again while looking at him angrily. He sighed and lowered his eyes. “Grandma instructed me not to help Aurora in school.” he answered me after a few second, and all the lines on my forehead straightened in shock.
