Chapter 90
How was he going to tell her?
Kendal’s POV:
I got out of bed a little while later and took a long shower letting my mind wander. I realized after a while I was actually singing in the shower without knowing it. Probably because I was happy, my life was perfect right now.
made some breakfast still humming to myself and then sat down and ate talking to one of m guards happily. Dez didn’t come home that night, I decided around 10 that I was going to check on him so I went to the pack house, I knocked lightly on the door before walking in finding only Michael sitting at his desk.
“Where’s Dez?” I asked I could see the split second confusion at his nickname until he remembered.
“Collins left earlier.”
“Left to where?” I asked narrowing my eyes.
“He didn’t say, but he’s not on the territory” he told me, his eyes were guarded, like there was something he wasn’t telling me. I stared at him for a minute studying him staying silent hoping he would feel the need to continue. He didn’t.
“When’s he coming back?” I asked, he shrugged, I said a small okay and went back home. I went to bed early and tossed and turned all night without him there. My mind turned in circles. Maybe he went to attack some pack or something so it would be easier to be around me. I chewed on my lip until morning and then forced myself to get up and I made some coffee and sat at the island staring mindlessly down at my hands.
I didn’t see Dez for 3 days, finally I was informed he was at the pack house and I went, at this point I was only in a t–shirt and some joggers. I wrapped my arms around myself since it was cold from the early morning fog. I went to the pack house and found him in his office. He looked exhausted, he looked at me as I walked in. I sat down in the one of the chairs across from his desk, I waited for him.
To say something.
“Where have you been?” I asked quietly, when he didn’t say anything.
Out. Was all he said.

I grabbed one of his old shirts and put myself into a light uncomfortable sleep. I pretty much stayed in bed the rest of the week, there wasn’t really much else for me to do. On days I got a couple minutes of sleep I went to the pack house and helped them prepare food and also went and helped out where they kept some a

There was only a few, most of the women didn’t work so they were able to stay home and raise their children. So there wasn’t much to do there, I really took to working in the infirmary with James. He “had started teaching me a lot, and I knew he needed the extra help.

Which wasn’t very fair, but nothing was ever fair when it came to Dez. I was running on straight coffee at this point. I didn’t know what was wrong with Dez but I was starting to get worried.
Around lunch time I went to go see him instead of helping out in the kitchen, he was in his office. I walked in and he was just sitting there a pen in his hand staring at the ground clicking it. He didn’t even notice me walk in which was very odd.
“Dez” I said and he jumped and looked up at me. For half a second his eyes were vulnerable and happy and then they turned cold. He raised an eyebrow waiting for me to speak.

“Hello” I answered miserably clearing the sleep out of my throat rubbing my eyes.
“How’s my main girl been?” Jenny’s voice asked through the phone.
“Jenny?” I asked sitting up looking around the room, it was dark and a blanket had been thrown over me. I was in Dez’s office still, but it was pitch black and his smell was prominent.
