Alexandra pov
“Mate?” I couldn’t believe my ears.
The word sent a shock of Wave through my body. I can’t believe this. I was given a second. chance mate? And not just with anyone, it’s with one of the most famous and ruthless Alpha as they say.
He lightly growled, which freaked me out. What was he about to do? Reject me in front of everyone? Hit me? I couldn’t help but wonder. The whisper around us grew louder.
He looked at Selena in distaste, he walked up to her. With the expression on her face, it was clear she was frightened.
“Do you make it a habit of attacking defenseless women?” He asked, his tone cold and authoritative.
“I…I was just ” She stammered
“Just What?” Albert interrupted. His voice cut through the air like a knife. Listen and listen carefully, if you ever harm her again, you will have me to answer.
Selena’s face was pale, and she took a step back, clearly intimidated.
Lucas immediately stepped into the picture.
“What’s going on here?” He asked
“Who’s this?” Albert asked, using his head to signify the person he was talking about.
“Well, she is my mate,the Luna of Ravenclaw pack,” Lucas said, grabbing her waist, while she sheepishly smiled as he did.
“You might want to keep her on a leash since her aim is to bully others.” The crowd gasped as he said that, Selena was shocked by his outrage and Lucas was visibly angered. “That is not a Luna-like character, don’t you think?” with that, he ignored them, and his attention was drawn back to me.
“Are you alright?” He asked, his voice now gentle
“I managed a nod, my voice barely a whisper. “Yes, I think so. Thank you.”
He grabbed my arm and gently pulled me towards him, as we headed to the Entrance of the

hall. In no distance time, we were outside the Hall.

He put his hand into his pocket and brought out a handkerchief that suited his outfit. “Here, this might help a little.”
I accepted it gratefully, dabbing at the stain on my dress. “Thank you,” I said with my head. down.
We stood there in an awkward silence for some couple of minutes before he broke the silence.
“Where do you stay?” He asked “I would love to drop you off, if that is okay by you.”
“Yes!” I said, immediately regretting how fast I answered. It makes me look desperate. “Uhmm……I..I will just go get my parents then.” I turned around in haste, completely avoiding eye contact with him, and headed towards the entrance to the hall. I could feel his gaze burning through my skull.
The walk back to the entrance was extremely uncomfortable. The few that were outside were staring at me like I had committed a grave sin. I decided to go through the side of the house. and dial Mom’s line.
“SHHH!! Lower your voice, we can’t risk anyone hearing us.” someone said at the far end of where I stood.
“You ruined everything, I gave you a simple task, and you couldn’t even get that right!” someone whispered. The voice sounds a lot like Moms. I moved closer to the wall in other not to be seen.
“I wanted to, but I couldn’t stand to see them together. Mother, he is mine.” I could swear that was Selena’s voice. “She took him away from me Mother, now that I have him, I won’t let him go. Lucas is mine!” well that confirms it.
“All eyes will be on you if Anything happens to her, don’t you get it? The only way we can get her without raising suspicion is if she’s in the midst of many.” Mom said.
I couldn’t believe my ears. That can’t be mom, she can’t, and won’t cause harm to me I dialed Mom’s number and waited for a response.
The phone rang.
Limmediately ended the call when I heard the ringtone coming from where the voices were. How could she?
“Mom put this into her meal, two drops every day,” I peeped, as Selena gave Mom a small

“Are you mad?”
“Don’t worry Mom, it’s a slow death. She will fall extremely Ill in a week, and within two weeks, she’s gone. She will never know what hit her.
“Are you sure about this?” Mother’s voice asked.
“Absolutely,” Selena replied. ” Two drop of this in her food every day, and she will be out for good. No one will suspect, not evenDad.”
I held my mouth with my left hand, and without thinking, I turned and fled. My heart was pounding. Tears streamed down my face as I ran back in the direction I came from.
I couldn’t stop the tears that were following down my face. I trusted Mom, why would anyone want to harm who they call their child?
Thankfully, Albert was still where I left him. A fresh set of tears came pouring down. Immediately he saw me, he walked up to where I was with concern on his face. “What happened? What’s wrong?” He asked.
But I couldn’t bring myself to tell him, the betrayal cut too deep, and the words felt too painful to utter. I grasped his arm with pleading eyes. “Please take me with you, I want to leave now. I want to be anywhere but here.”
He hesitated for a moment before nodding. He walked to the passenger side of the vehicle and opened the car door.” Come on, get in, Let’s go.”
The journey was a quiet one, I could only hear my sobs. Hours later, we stopped in front of a medium-sized house.
He welcomed me into the house, holding my hands to guide me through the dimly lit hallway.
He opened one of the doors by his right, the wall was covered in white paint, and the bed was a perfect fit for two. The room had a simple decoration but seemed classy. “You can stay here for as long as you want,” he said softly.
I nodded, too weak and heartbroken to alter a word. I looked around the room, the bed was nearly made with pillows and an inviting blanket
The alpha lingered at the doorway. “If you need anything, just let me know. I will be in the
next room.

I nodded my head again, unable to find the right words to express my gratitude. With that, he took his leave, closing the door gently behind him. I finally allowed myself to collapse on
the bed.
The event of this evening played in my Selena’s
mind. All I could think of was Mom’s and conversation. The only person I trusted with my whole heart, turned out to be the one who ended up shattering my heart into pieces.
My tears eventually gave into exhaustion, as I cried for hours.
I woke up to the soft light of morning streaming through the curtains.
It took me a moment to adjust to the glow that filled the room. The drama of yesterday flooded my mind. With a deep sigh, I got up from the bed, and headed straight for the bathroom
I undressed to take a shower, the steam from the hot shower helped eased my body. After freshening up, I went through the closet in the guest room, looking for something to wear. All I found were Tops. I picked a large polo shirt, which clearly belonged to Albert, I put it on, and it smelled exactly like him.
I stepped out of my room, making my way to the kitchen. “The least I can do for him to show my appreciation is by cooking.” I whispered to myself self.
I found pancake mix in the pantry and quickly set to work. Soon enough, the kitchen was filled with the delicious aroma of the pancakes.
I could hear footsteps approaching. As I stacked the finished pancakes on a plate. I turned to see Albert with a wild smile on his face as he stood at the doorway, “Good morning,” he said, with a warm and cheerful voice. “You are up early.”
“Good morning.” I replied, trying to sound casual despite my racing heart.
“You don’t need to be tensed, I do not bite,” he muttered. “They look great, mind if I join you?”
“Of course not,” I said. “Have a seat.”
As we sat at the kitchen table, Albert tool a bite of his pancake and sighed in contentment. These are amazing. You really know your way around the kitchen.
I blushed, feeling a little bit at ease.

Finally, Albert broke the silence. “I realized I never asked for your name,” he said. “I was a bit distracted last night.”
“My name is Alexandra.”
“Alexandra,” he repeated as if testing the sound of it. “A beautiful name for a beautiful
woman.

“Thank you, Alpha Albert”
“You know my name? He muttered. “But I would love it if you’d just call me Albert,” he said as I nodded. “Tell me about yourself, where are you from?”
“I was adopted at a very young age, I don’t know my biological patients, I was raised by Joseph and Doreen, the former betas of the Silverwood pack. They were wonderful parents, I’m not so sure now.” I said, taking a deep breath I wasn’t sure if i should give much information, but it will still come out sooner or later. “I was married to the Alpha of Ravenclaw Pack, Lucas.”
As soon as I said that, he stopped eating, his facial expression was void of emotion.
“I was married to him for 4 years, and we couldn’t bear pups. I’ve been unable to shift for as long as I can remember, I’m not connected to my wolf.” I said as I broke down sobbing. “If you want to reject me, just get it over with. It’s better now than later.”
“I don’t intend on doing that to you Alexandra,” he stated. “You have no idea how I’ve longed, for this day.”
I simply want you to know that I won’t leave you I promise not to rush you, nor will I pressure you into doing anything. You can have my word for that.
Tears welled up in my eyes, a mix of fear and hope. “Albert, I have been through so much. I’m scared of getting hurt again, of being rejected or betrayed.”
His expression softened, as he moved closer, taking my hands in his. “I understand, Alexandra, but I’m not Lucas. I won’t hurt you, nor will I betray you.” he walked up to me.
“I’m sorry to hear that, just know I’m here for you.” He said giving me a peck on the forehead.
