Chapter 6
Alexandra
I layed on the bed staring at the ceiling, my mind filled with thoughts and I was extremely emotional. I felt sick, but I wasn’t sick.
It’s been a week since I left the Ravenclaw pack. My parents have done their best in trying to cheer me up, but at this point, I think my happiness is gone and lost forever.
They haven’t talked with Selena since the whole drama started. I knew they were
disappointed, but they tried their best to hide it, and she herself hasn’t made any attempt to call home.
The rejection ceremony was behind me, but the pain and humiliation were still a very fresh. wound to me. My happy place and where I had peace, was currently my room, away from prying eyes, and judgments from people.
“Lexi!”
“Lexi!!” I heard my mom shouting my name for the second time downstairs.
“Alexandra are you awake?” She repeated this time, but with my full name. Whenever she calls me by my full name, I know something is up.
I remained silent, hoping she would think I was sleeping
That was no good because I could hear footsteps coming up the stairs. I heard the soft creak of my bedroom door opening. Mom entered the room, her footsteps light as she approached the bed.
I quickly closed my eyes, trying as much as possible to look as if I was sleeping. My mom can’t be easily fooled, but I will try my best to act the par
“Sweetheart,” she whispered gently, sitting at the edge of the bed, rubbing my head gently.
“I know you are awake,” she whispered into my ear. That made me smile, which burst my act.
I opened my eyes and looked up at her face.
“Mom I really don’t feel like going to the ball tonight,” I said with a pleasing eyes
“Oh stop that, besides it is not a ball, and you know that. It is a general event that is held
10 years. You are not a kid anymore and you need to live a little,” She said

She held my hand and smiled at me, she kept stroking my cheeks.
“I understand, but it might do you some good to step out, to be among people who loves, and care about you. You’ve been through a lot, and I wouldn’t like it if you isolated yourself.”
“Mom, aside from you and Dad, no one loves me nor do they care about me. So no, I won’t be going out there to give the people more room to gossip and point fingers.” I said looking anywhere but at her. I could feel tears gathering in my eyes
“I..I just can’t face everyone after, what happened.”
Mom kept stroking my hair. Even though she is not my biological Mother, she sure did act like one, and that act alone made me love her even more. There was no favouritism when it came to I and Selena.
“I know it is hard, but you are stronger than you think, and you don’t have to face it alone. Your father and I are here, we are going to be by your side the whole time. You might even find some joy in the celebration, a distraction from all the pain.”
“I don’t know mom, I’m having a weird feeling about this. What if I see Lucas and Selena there? I doubt I would be able to take it. I don’t think I’m ready.” I said sitting up.
“I am not going to force you, you are old enough to make your own decision but I want you to consider it. You have been through a lot, and you deserve the chance to feel happiness again. They’ve moved on with their lives, and so should you as well.” She said smiling
“But Mom, it’s not as easy as it sounds.”
“Don’t you think it’s important for the pack to see that you are still standing, still fighting? Let them see that you are a woman of your own,” She stood up, adjusting the curtains. “Lexi, Your are an inspiration to many, even if you don’t see it. Have that in mind.”
I looked at my mom, as she went up and down doing things that didn’t really make sense. since everything was in place. She went to adjust the properly placed books on my table, walked to my mirror stand, opened my little makeup kit, and mumbled something before she closed it back. As if that wasn’t enough, she came to dust my pillows.
That did it, I knew she was just waiting for my response, and if I didn’t say anything, she wouldn’t leave.
“Mom, You are torturing me gradually if you do not know,” I said, as she faced me, acting shocked. She placed her hand on her chest with an open mouth.”
“I will go to the ball with you,” She happily squealed.

“Oh my love, I knew you would come around,” she gave me a soft kiss on the cheeks.
“Mom

Moments later, Mom walked in carrying a very large, beautifully wrapped box, she walked past me heading to the bed where she placed the box gently.
“Mom, what is this?”
“Why don’t you find out?” she whispered, her face brimming with excitement
I walked towards the bed, picked up the box to feel its weight, it was slightly heavy. I couldn’t wait any longer, curiosity took the best of me.
I tore the gift wrap, I felt a little bit bad for doing that because it was neatly and beautifully wrapped. After taking out the wrap, there was a ribbon around the box. This time, I carefully
untied the ribbon.
“Go on, open it. I wanted to give you something special for the Event,” mom said.
I gently removed the lid, my breath was caught in my throat. “O My Goodness! Mom, this is beautiful!!” I exclaimed
Inside was the most exquisite
with celestial Silver that I have ever seen, the gown was a deep midnight blue,
the light and made the fabric look as if it was covered in stardust. The silhouette fits at the top and gently expands toward the skirts as it flows in elegant, cascading layers of tulle, giving it an ethereal, almost magical appearance.
“Mom….This is really beautiful,” I whispered, my eyes wide with excitement. “But how?” I asked confused
“How what?” she asked.
“How did you get this dress so soon?

Her smile widened, a-touch of pride in her eyes. I had some help from an old friend. She’s a talented seamstress. She worked non-stop for two days straight to achieve this. “Okay. Okay, if you go on with this hug, you will squeeze the life out of me.” she said and I let her go laughing.

Mom took my hand, pulling me to the bathroom. “Come, let’s get you ready. Tonight is about more than just the event, It is about showing everyone that you are not broken.”
The doorbell rang. “Are you expecting any visitors?” I ask my mom
“O my Goodness, yes I am, I booked an appointment with a makeup artist for you. Quickly have
your shower so we will begin.”
“Mom, is this necessary?” She said nothing but kept pushing me to the bathroom.
After the shower, I came out and met a lady in my room. A tall lady with well applied makeup which made her look more beautiful.
Good day Ma’am, have your seat pls so we can begin.” That was all she said
I did as told. She kept on complimenting me while applying the makeup. After that, she hair which took 2 hours straight. The ball was to start in 30 minutes.
