“Why?” I was shocked, and couldn’t believe my ears, why would he lie, I thought we were friends,
Lucas turned to face me, I was scared at this moment, he wasn’t the Lucas I remembered.
“Lucas I’m telling the truth, I didn’t go out with anyone, I wasn’t even in a state to do that, and I would never cheat on you if that’s what you are thinking.” I pleaded for him to give me a listening ear.
“Why would you say that If you weren’t cheating, that explains the things you brought back, do you have no shame?” he asked with disgust on his face.
“Call the hospital, you will know I’m not lying.”
Lucas took out his phone to call the hospital. The person on the opposite side picked up the call, he put the call on loudspeaker.
“I

“Is there a record of the Luna being there last night?”
“A minute Alpha” less than a minute he responded, “No Alpha there is no record of the Luna being here last night.” he said
“No that’s not possible, check well, i was there.”
“I’m sorry but it is very clear, your last visit was two months ago Luna. He said
“Where is Doctor Morgan, he was the one that… Before I could finish my statement, Lucas ended the call.
“Enough with all this drama, why don’t you just come clean?” Lucas asked.
“I come clean to something I didn’t do?” I stood my ground. “I collapsed yesterday and was rushed to the hospital, that is all to it, believe me,” I said, tears threatening to fall down my
face.
“If you are trying to use that excuse to cancel the rejection ceremony tomorrow, it won’t
work
Lucas pls tell me you are joking, please Lucas, after all these years? Don’t do this to me.” I fell

“I’ve made up my mind, don’t be dramatic,” he said.

“Dramatic? Really, Lucas, we have been through thick and thin Lucas, you know me inside out, I can’t do such, I love you, and my heart belongs to you and you alone, just trust me”
“Trust? You’ve lost the right to use that word,” he said walking out of the room, Aiden followed after.
Why, why me? What have I done wrong to deserve this? I’ve been there with Lucas since I became his second-chance mate since his wife died. I’ve been there with him, it wasn’t easy but I pulled through, and he managed to smile again, to be happy, but this is how I was re- paid? I never gave up on him, but he did so easily. I couldn’t hold my tears any longer.
The door flung open again, I raised my head to see Lucas walking in with a paper in his hand. He walked towards the small office in our room, took out a pen, and signed the document he was holding.
“This is the divorce papers, as you can see, I’ve signed it already, now it’s your turn.
I stood up, cleaned the tears on my face with my palms, walking towards where he stood.
“Lucas reconsider your decision, let’s talk about this, it’s not easy for me as well and I don’t want to lose you.”
He took the pen and placed it in my hand.
“Sign it,” he said.
Reluctantly, I signed the divorce papers. I turned to face him, “Whenever you come back to your senses, I hope it’s not too late.” I threw the document on the desk. Before walking out, he kept on looking at my signature like he was surprised I signed it. Without looking back, I stepped out. It was getting stuffy in there and I needed fresh air.
I went to the garden, my fingers brushing lightly over the petals of flowers as I passed by. The garden was so beautiful with vibrant colors, I went to my favorite spot, beneath the oak tree, its branches providing a canopy of shade. Sitting down on soft grass, I let out a long weary sigh.
The rustling of leaves, and the distant chirping of birds,
Created a little melody, which helped calm me down, I could almost forget my troubles. I closed my eyes, trying to relax and take the positivity of the garden..

But my solitude was interrupted by the sound of footsteps crunching on the travel path. I opened my eyes to see Stella standing right in front of me, with her hands crossed around her breast.
“Well well well, if it isn’t the barren Luna, ohh sorry ex Luna I mean”
“What do you want Selena, if it isn’t something important, can I have my me time please?”
“I want to know why!” she said.
“Why what? I asked
“Why is it always you? like why does it seem like the world revolves around you? Since my parents took you in, you’ve been their favourite, you found your mate before I could, and you get favours from people easily, Why?
“You know that’s not true, ever since I came here, the pack members have hated me, openly and secretly.”
She looked at me, with a slight smile, her eyes filled with mischief “Well, that’s thanks to me. I’m going to take everything you love little by little.”
“All I ever did was to love you as a sister should, but…”
“NO!” She interrupted me with a loud voice. “All you ever did was to walk in my shadow, take that pity party nonsense elsewhere.”
She turned to take her leave but stopped almost immediately. “I Hate you Alexandra, and I will never stop till I see you miserable.Lucas and your title won’t be the only thing you lose, watch your back.”
“I can’t believe this is coming from who i call my sister, i was willing to do anything and everything for you Sellena! I truly love you, why let envy and jealousy destroy what we once had? We can put all this behind us, and start afresh, what do you say?”
“You still don’t get it do you?” she’s said, and with that she took her leave.
