Chapter 19
Alberts POV
‘I can’t believe it, it’s barely a day and she lied to me again. What was she thinking?’ I was so annoyed that I couldn’t look at her. ‘I told her what we went through with our first mate, and she wants to repeat the same mistake?’ I spoke to RIO.
And the problem is, I can’t stay mad at her.’ I said, but he was annoyingly quiet. ‘And you, on the other hand, are killing me with your silence.
I cliched my jaw, trying to ease my thought, but they only seemed to grow louder. Without fully realizing it, my foot began to press down harder on the gas pedal. The car responded instantly, surging forward. The speedometer needle climbed, and the landscape outside the windows began to blur.
‘Calm down I know she wasn’t thinking straight, she did what she thought was right. Don’t endanger her life, she’s not like us, at least not yet. RIO said.
I gradually eased off the gas, the car slowing to a more reasonable speed. The roar of the engines quieted, replaced by a steady hum.
We drove in silence for two hours.
“I need you to promise me something,” I finally broke the silence.
She Turned to me, “what is it?” She asked in a low tune.
“No more secrets, no more going outside the territory on your own, or going without informing me about it first. I know you find it difficult to trust others, but you have to trust
me.”
She nodded. “I promise. I’m sorry Albert, I just… I felt like I had to act.”
I just nodded, the tension between us eased slightly.
About an hour later, we reached our destination. “We are here, the Blackclaw territory,” H stated.
I packed the car “Why are we stopping here?” She asked.
“It’s not wise to drive into the territory, if the kid said it was ambushed. It’s best if we walk on foot and properly observe our surroundings.” I said.
As we both got out of the car, I felt a cold chill enveloped my body. I walked in front of her,

“But we can’t afford to wait, what if something happens to her?”
He grabbed the key from my hand, and headed for the door. I quickly followed him, knowing he was angry, but I was grateful he was coming with me. As we entered the vehicle, I glanced at Albert, he had already started the engine, and his jaw was set in a hard line.
The drive was extremely quiet, I know he was disappointed and angry, because his grip on the steering wheel was tight, his knuckles white. He was driving faster than usual.
I didn’t alter a word, because I know he wouldn’t endanger our lives. Instead I focused on the route Richard had described. The road grew narrow, the forest closing in around us.
Minutes became hours as we drove in silence.
“I need you to promise me something.” Albert finally broke the silence.
I Turned to him, “what is it?” I asked in a low tune.
“No more secrets, no more going on, on your own, I know you find it difficult to trust others, but you have to trust me.”
Inodded, feeling a lump form in my throat. “I promise. I’m sorry Albert, I just…. I felt like I had to act.”
He just nodded, the tension between us eased slightly.
We drove for an hour extra before Albert spoke up again. “We are here, the Blackclaw territory,” he stated.
He packed the car. “Why are we stopping here?” I asked.

“stay behind me,” I whispered.
I led the way, as we kept going forward. “How are you effortlessly moving through this thick forest? I can barely see a thing.” Alexandra asked,
I chuckled, “I see perfectly fine, and have a keen sense of smell.”
“Ohhh,” she said. “At times, I wonder if I’m human. I have been unable to shift, or do the common things all shifters do. Why would you want a common human, to be your Luna?”
Shhh,” I turned to her. “Even if you are a human, I will choose you over, and over again. Don’t look down at yourself, you can never tell what will happen in the future.”
As we ventured deep into the forest, we began to see the faint outlines of houses.
The place was abnormally quiet, no light, or sign of life. “Do you know the exact house?” I asked.
Alexandra nodded, scanning the surroundings. We walked further, some doors were left open, but everything looked properly kept, “How strange,” I murmured.
“Albert,” she called out to me.
“Yes?”
“Does this look like an apple tree?” She asked.
I looked at the tree, it sure was an apple tree. “Yes it is, why?”
“Richard said an apple tree is directly in front of his house, so that might be it.” She said pointing to the closest house.
We approached the door and slowly pushed it open, the creaking hinges echoed across the silence.
We cautiously entered the house, the air inside was off, it smelt of rot. A portrait was placed on the wall, and the little kid called Richard was in it as well. “This is the house,” I confirmed.
We moved through the house, searching each room carefully. We searched all the rooms, except for one. “That’s the last room, she might be inside,” Alexandra said, reaching out to the door handle.
“It’s locked,” she protested.
I forcefully hit the door with my right leg, and it broke open. Alexandra hurriedly stepped

To our surprise, the room was empty, It was dark and dusty like the rest. There was no sign of Amanda or anyone else. We exchanged bewildered glances. “This seems to be the right. house, so what’s going on?” She asked. “There must be something we are missing.”
“Are you sure the kid wasn’t playing you?” I questioned.
“No he’s too young to do that, besides I believe him. He said she would be here, then maybe she was moved recently?” She asked in a confused state. “But why?”
I sighed, running a hand through my hair. “We need to go, there’s clearly no one here, I don’t think…”
“We have company,” Rio said.
I gently placed my hand over Alexandra’s mouth, to listen properly. And I could hear it, low growls and some snapping of sticks. It seems they were running towards us.
“Albert, what’s is wr…” she began, but my intense expression made her stop. I growled softly.
“What is happening?” She asked again, her voice trembling.
“We have company,” I said
“Company? From who, where? Are they rogues?” She asked.
“No they are not rogues, but I can sense them.” I said.
Without another word, I pulled Alexandra out of the house, once we were out, I began to shift. Afterwards, she looked in awe. Sadly this wasn’t how I wanted to introduce her to Rio.
I lowered myself gently, indicating for Alexndra to climb onto my back, but she hesitated for a moment, her mouth open. I moved closer to her, and lowered my body even more.
Understanding my silent command, she carefully climbed my back, wrapping her arms around my neck.
With a powerful leap, I took off into the forest, moving with incredible speed, I could tell she was grabbing onto me tightly.
“We are surrounded,” I said to Rio.
“Hm I can sense-that.” He responded.

I lowered myself, and Alexandra slid off our back.
“Albert, what do you sense?” She whispered, her eyes looking round the clearing.

A rustling sound came out of the bushes, I could see she was scared, so I pushed her carefully with my nose, to the back of a huge tree, and took my position.
Four werewolves emerged from the shadows, they were huge, but not as huge as I am. Their eyes, their eyes were white. ‘What the hell is going on, I thought to myself. Their eyes are the same as the prisoners, they didn’t stink like rogues, so what’s happening?
They didn’t waste any time, with snarls and bared teeth, they lunged at me.
his claws slashing through the face of one of the rouge, using his teeth to crush the windpipe of the rouge.
I turned Immediately, missing one of the wolf’s impacts by a few inches. I leaped into the air, slamming into the first wolf, with a force that sent it sprawling to the ground. With a swift, lethal bite, I snapped its neck, the sound echoes through the trees.
The second wolf lunged at me, but I was quicker. I dodged to the side, and then with a massive force, I hit the wolf with my paw. The wolf staggered backwards, I didn’t give it a chance to recover, I was on the wolf in an instant, with my jaw around its throat. Moments later the wolf laid motionless on the ground.
“Albert behind you!!” Alexandra screamed.
