Alexander’s POV
I blinked my eyes, adjusting to the burst of color and light.
Before me was a breathtaking sight, a small clear meadow opened up admits the trees, with a picnic set up that looked like something out of a dream.
Albert took my hand as we began walking, there were petals on the ground, guiding us to the
us picnic set up. Everything looked so beautiful, I had a mixture of both shock and surprise. Since all the years I spent with Lucas, he has never for once done something like this for me.
As we got closer, there was a large checkered blanket, which was spread out on the soft ground, surrounded by pillows in various shades of white and pink. Colourful balloons danced in the gentle breeze. There was an assortment of food on the spread as well, fresh fruits like strawberries, grapes, and blueberries. A bouquet of wildflowers was placed on the spread.
“Albert, this is….Incredible,” I said, my voice filled with awe.
He smiled, “I’m glad you like it, I wanted to do something special for you.” He said.
“This is so lovely Albert, thank you!”
He led me to the blanket, where we settled down. He began unpacking the basket, revealing an array of delicious treats: sandwiches, cookies, cheeses, chocolates, freshly baked bread, A bottle of sparkling juice and so much more.
“Are we to eat all this?” I questioned
He lightly laughed, “We will eat what we can.” He said.
“What’s that noise?” I couldn’t help but ask.
“That’s the waterfall,” he said
“A waterfall? Wow, I never imagined how big this place is.” I muttered. “I would love to see the waterfall.”
“And we will, that will be after this though,” He responded.
We sat side by side, enjoying the meal and each other’s company, we talked and laughed as we ate, sharing each other’s memories.

I couldn’t believe I was laughing with the same person I was scared of, someone other people dreaded, the same person they said kills without mercy, someone other alphas wished to be like because of his Succes. They said he was mean, and all sought other things. Do they mean in battle, or with other packs?
Because the man in front of me was a totally different person.
“Why do people dread you? Why are they scared of you? You seem like a different person, someone filled with emotions, why do they call you ruthless?” I asked without thinking.
His expression was numb, there was no sign of anger, so I wasn’t scared.
“I’m sorry if I crossed the line, I was just curious, since my teens, we were told stories about
you.”
“It’s fine,” he said. “The stories were true, I wasn’t like this few years back.”
“What?” I asked again to ensure I heard him right.
“I spoke to my mom, and the pack members, never to reveal this to anyone, what ever happens in the pack, stays in the pack. I once had a mate, I found her in my early twenties, she was all I could ever wish for at that time she suggested that the outside world shouldn’t know she’s my Luna, or that I found a mate. It was extremely weird at first, but I agreed, I was willing to do anything that made her happy, and comfortable. I introduced her to my parents, and everyone eventually got to know who she was. Few days later, I became the Alpha and we had our mating ceremony the next day. Eight months later, she was heavily pregnant, she never for one day visited her pack. The day she decided to, I was out of the country. She insisted she needed to go. I tried to reason with her that it was a bad idea to travel in her state, she kept on insisting that it was urgent, but she never told me why it was. So I asked my father to go with her, with some guards.” He paused for a moment, picked up the glass and took down the whole content inside.
With that he continued. “I felt a sharp pain, like my heart was being ripped out, I couldn’t breathe. I stepped out from the Meeting I was in to get some fresh air. I dialed her line, it wasn’t reachable, did same with my dad. But same response. I abruptly left the meeting, heading back, it was a two days journey. On getting back to the territory, there were 7 bodies laying on the ground, they were all cover up. Mom and so many others were weeping. I lifted the clothes up one by one, they had claw marks everywhere, some part of their body missing, my mate’s stomach was torn open, and the child wasn’t there. When I got to know who the people laying down were, and how they were brutally killers,I lost it all.
“My world was shattered, I became ruthless. In the midst of rage, I murdered everyone in that pack, I set the whole place ablaze. I murdered any rouges I came in contact with, be it innocent or not, and so many more of which I’m not so proud of. One fateful night, I had a

dream. My mate was playing with a child, the little boy ran to me, calling me Papa while she stood there with her hands crossed, she was smiling. She walked up to me and whispered. something into my ears, I woke up and couldn’t recollect what she said exactly. From that day I decided to act differently, I buried my head into work, in other not to recall the whole incident.”
“O my goodness, that was tragic, you’ve been through a lot, I’m so sorry,” I said, feeling sorry for him, even though I knew it wasn’t necessary, And Here I was thinking I went through hell.
“It’s fine, I’ve made peace with it: Second Chance mate is a very rare thing, but my Mum had faith I would find mine. She kept insisting I go to places, that I might just be lucky. I’m glad I took her advice, now I have you. No harm will befall you on my watch, I promise you that. Since you came, I’ve been a different person, I’m happy, I don’t work as I use to.” He picked a rose that was placed on the blanket, he fixed it in my hair.
“Thank you, Alexandra, for giving my life a new meaning.” He said.
“Thank you as well, Albert, I’m glad I….”
Before I could finish, he closed the distance between us,his lips captured mine in a gentle, yet passionate kiss. I was frozen at first, but later on reciprocated the kiss. Time seemed to stand still as we melted into each other. He got closer, and held my lower back as the kiss deepened. He layed me gently on the blanket,our mouths never broke contact, it kept on going for a little while longer. When we finally pulled apart, we both were breathless, our forehead resting against each other.
“I’ve wanted to do that for a while,” Albert confessed, a smile playing at the corner of his lips.
I blushed, my heart racing. “I’m glad you did,” I admitted.
We layed there for a while, in a comfortable silence. The sky, the wind, the trees, the picnic, ‘everything was just perfect’ I thought to myself
Albert stood up, offering me his hand,”why don’t we go see the waterfall now.” He said as I took his hand and stood.
We walked a short distance, to a small hill, overlooking a beautiful waterfall. It cascaded down a series of rocky ledges, each drop catching the sunlight, it created a glimmering curtain of water. The water sparkled like little diamonds. Moss-covered rocks framed the waterfall. And wildflowers in different colors swayed gently in the breeze.
“It’s beautiful,” I whispered leaning into his side.
He wrapped an arm around me, pulling me close. “Just like you,” he said softly, placing a kiss

We stood there for a while before heading home.
“I really had a good time today Albert, thank you.”
“I’m glad you did.” He responded.
Few minutes later, we got to the pack house, Lucas excused himself, his attention was needed. elsewhere.
I walked round the pack, and I noticed a group of girls staring curiously at me. One of the girls walked up to me, he was half naked and had loads of makeup on her face that didn’t do justice to her.
She approached me as the other girls followed suit.
“Hello!” I said politely.
“Who are you, and why did you come out of the Alpha’s car?” The girl asked with a curious look.
“Uhm…I’m Alexandra, and what’s your interest with me coming out of his car?” I curiously asked as well.
She walked closer to me, she spat the gum she was chewing on the ground, close to my leg, “Stay away from him,” with that, she and her squad left.
‘How rude and weird,’ I thought.
I took the part that leads the little kids room, and found myself in front of the elevator. I took the stairs on a second thought. It was a long climb up the stairs, my legs were numb when I reached the top.

One of the guards walked up to me, and he noticed I was trying to catch breath.”Miss, why didn’t you use the elevator? Why put yourself through this stress?” He asked, as he handed me a bottle of water.
“Thank you, it was faulty,” I lied. “I’m here to see the child, Albert asked me to come check up on him, if he would talk,” great my second lie.
They hesitated a little bit, before letting me in.
