Chapter 14
Alexandra
She called out my name again. I hard no choice than to turn, forcing an awkward smile.
She hurried over, her face filled with excitement. “It’s so good to see you here!” She said giving me a hug. “how are you settling in?”
I returned the greeting, sounding as polite as possible. “Hello, Isabel. I’m doing very well, thank you.”
“That’s good to here, I’m doing perfectly fine as well thanks for asking,” She said.
“Shit, I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking straight, I’ve got lots on my mind.” I replied, feeling a little bit terrible.
“Oh well, it’s fine,” She muttered. “Ahh, did you like the gift I gave you?” She asked, wiggling her eyebrows.
I hesitated, thinking of a better response. “Yes, It sure is beautiful. Thank you.”
“They will look lovely on you, I’m sure the Alpha won’t be able to resist you, once you put them on.” She said.
Okay at this point it just went 10 times awkward. “Uhm…Isa..”
She interrupted me. “You know, it has not been easy to do things around here, especially having a toddler, while still expecting another,” She said rubbing her tummy.
It wasn’t big yet. It’s either she just took in, or she’s joking. But why would she joke about a child?
“Oh my, I’m sorry if what I said was inappropriate, I can be light headed at times?” She said.
“What do you mean? I’m not offended,” I glanced over to Albert, who was still engaged in a conversation with someone, and then back at Isabel. I desperately wanted to escape the
conversation.
“I should get back to Albert,” I said forcing another smile. “He’s waiting for me.” I qulickly excused myself, without giving her a chance to speak. I could feel her eyes on me as I walked away, but I didn’t look back.
Albert noticed my approach, and turned to me with a gentle smile. “Is everything okay?”

“Yes, Just needed some air,” I replied.
He nodded his head. “This is Thomas,” He introduced the stranger to me.
“Hi Luna, it’s so nice getting to meet you finally. He said stretching out his arm for a handshake.
I responded to his handshake, taking his hand immediately. “It’s an honor, Thomas. Call me AlexandraTM
“Please call me Tom. I’m Marcus younger brother,” He said. We would love to catch up with you later on, that’s if it’s not too much to ask.”
“We?” I asked
“Yes, I and my mate. She’s new here as well, she doesn’t really know anyone. We will be thrilled if you and the alpha drop in,” he said.
“That will be nice” I said giving him a genuine smile.
Lucas glanced at his watch, and then turned to me. “Its time we went to see the boy,” he said. “Come on let’s he’s up stairs.”
go, he’s
I nodded as we walked to the elevator. Albert pressed the button, I was a little bit frightened because I had never used an elevator before, I always used the stairs. The thought of being in a small, enclosed space that moved vertically was unsettling.
As the door slid open, I hesitated. Albert stretched his hand for me to grab it, and I did. I stepped inside, my heart pounding when the doors closed. He pressed a button, I didn’t really see the number. The elevator began to move, I held tightly onto Albert’s arm. The sensation of the ground shifting beneath my feet was disorienting.
Albert chuckled softly. “You are fine Alexandra, there is nothing to be scared of.”
“What if it gets stock? Or the power goes out? Or what if we fall?” I squeezed his arm tighter.
He laughed again. “You are thinking too much. Elevators are very safe. And even if something did happen, your Prince Charming is here.” He said wiggling his eye brow, with a grin on his face.
I blushed at his words, my grip on his arm lossen slightly. I focused on his calm demeanor. “I’ve just used one before. It’s different, I can’t help but imagine the worst.”
never
He brushed a strand of hair on my face. The elevator dinged, as the doors opened I breathed a sigh of relief.

Chapter 14
We walked down the corridor, towards the last room at the end of the corridor. We reached the door, there were two guards there. They greeted Albert, though they hesitated a little bit. but did the same to me. I responded with a smile.
We walked into the room, the room was dimly lit, the windows were closed. I walked up to one of the the windows and opened it The room brightened by my action. I turned around and saw a little figure curled up, his knees drawn to the chest, and his arms wrapped tightly around them. He didn’t move nor acknowledge our presence. He just sat there, staring out of the slightly opened window.

Albert took a step forward, but I gently touched his arm, stopping him.
“Let’s give him a minute,” I whispered.
I took in the appearance of the room. It had a simple bed, a wooden chair and table, and a county at the far end, the room was painted white and green. There was a single frame picture of a forest landscape.
Minutes ticked by, and still, the boy didn’t move
Albert finally spoke, his voice gently but firm. “Hello, I am Albert, the Alpha of this pack, what’s your name?” He asked.
There was no response, not even a flicker of movement.
“We are here to help you, don’t be scared.” He said
Again, there was no response. He remained as still as a statue. His gaze fixed outside the window.
I stepped forward standing in front of Albert. “It’s okay,” I said. “We are not here to hurt you, we are here to help.”
The kid finally made a movement. He turned towards me, but then, he went back to staring out of the window.
I felt a glimmer of hope, at least we made progress, even if it was a tiny one.
Albert placed a hand on my shoulder. “We will come back later,” He said quietly. “Give him some time.”
I got up, feeling a mix of relief and frustration. I wanted to push further, but I knew Albert was right.
We exited the room, closing the door softly behind us.
“Albert,” I called to him. He turned giving me his full attention. “I believe he will open up to me, but that is if I’m alone with him.” I said
He looked at me with confusion. “You want me to leave you all alone, with a kid we have no idea of his whereabouts, how he got in, or why the people he came in with look half dead?” He questioned.
“Uhm. Yes,” I replied.
“Not going to happen,” he said.
“Please Albert, you can stand outside the door if anything happens. Besides he’s just a kid, a harmless one at that.”
“It might seem like, but you can never tell.” He said. “If anything happens, that will be the last time you see the kid.”
“Thank you,” I said with a half smile.
“Come on, let’s go, mom wants to see you,
