I was currently sitting in my little office in the cottage. Hoping for something to lay my hands on, but sadly there was no work to be done over here.
It has been two days since I brought Alexandra out here. She hasn’t opened up to me about. what transpired that night.
We haven’t had a proper conversation since the last time we had breakfast. She has been distant since then, and I understand why.
I stood up and walked towards the window, there she was sitting under a tree, close to the pond with what looked like a sketch board. She looked happy and was humming a beautiful melody.
Getting to where she was, I quietly sat a few feet away from her, in order not to disturb her. That was just pointless because she noticed my presence almost immediately and stopped humming. She changed from a happy state, to that of a frightened little girl.
It breaks my heart to see her like that. I thought we’d passed this stage with the last conversation we had.
“I don’t bite Alexandra. I thought we’d gone past this already, if you are not comfortable having me around, I’ll just take my leave then.” I got up to take my leave, hoping she would stop me. Moving at a very slow pace, I took six steps forward, but nothing happened. I stylishly turned around, she was just staring at me. I took five extra steps forward, and that’s when she spoke.
“Wait!” she said giggling. “Don’t go.”
I turned around and dramatically Puffed out, while she giggled once more. I sat back down, this time a little bit closer.
“So….you draw?” I asked, looking at the sketch board she was holding. Unfortunately, I couldn’t see what she was drawing exactly.
“Yes, I can draw a bit though, I’m not a professional yet,” she said with a little smile.
“I would love to see your work.” I openly stated.
Alexandra smiled. “Maybe someday.”

I had a wide grin. “I’ll hold you to that.”
“We are making progress, Rio muttered.
The evening air was cool and refreshing, as we continued our conversation.
Suddenly, my phone rang, I pulled it out from my pocket. I glanced at the screen before answering.

“Marcus,” I said, my voice shifting to a more authoritative tone. “What is going on?”
“Alpha there’s been a breach at the border. Marcus replied. “No one is hurt, but it’s a complicated Issue.”

I furrowed my brow. “How is it possible that no one detected the breach? Our defenses are supposed to be impenetrable. And what do you mean by complicated Issue?”
“That is what’s troubling, Alpha,” Marcus said. “I think it might be sorcery. There were no signs of a physical break-in and no damage to the fences or gate. It’s like they just….appeared.”
“Sorcery? How is that possible? There’s been no news of sorcery In centuries. Are you certain?”
“I’m not completely sure, but it’s the only explanation that makes sense right now.” Marcus replied. “We captured the rogues, but there’s something strange about them.”
“Strange in what way?” I asked.
Marcus hesitated before speaking again. “Alpha, their eyes. I don’t know if they are blind, but it’s completely white. I’m not sure how to explain this, but you need to see this for yourself.
“What? That doesn’t make any sense.” I muttered
“I know that Alpha,” Marcus said, frustration evident in his tone.
I sighed, running my hand through my hair. “Alright, I’ll be there as soon as I can.”
After ending the call, I turned to Alexandra. “We have to go, there’s been an incident at the pack, and it sounds serious.”
“We?” she asked in confusion.
“Yes Alexandra, ‘WE’. I can’t leave you here all by yourself. Besides, you will have to meet my people sooner or later.”

Chapter 10
The drive to the pack was a tense one. Sorcery was rare and very dangerous, the thought of it being used against my pack is very much troubling.
When i arrived at the pack house, Marcus was waiting for me outside, his expression grim. “Alpha, he greeted bowing slightly.
“Show me.”
Marcus led us to the dungeon, where the rogues were held captive. They indeed looked blind, their eyes were clouded..
“How is this possible?” I couldn’t believe my eyes.
In front of me were four prisoners, of which three were standing while the last one crunched to the ground.
“And who’s that?” I said pointing to the child on the ground. “Why do you have a child locked up? I asked Marcus.
“He came with them, he didn’t seem affected by whatever happened to the others, but we could not risk it. He said.
Alexandra walked in. I moved quickly towards her. “Alexandra, what are you doing here? I asked you to wait outside for me.”
“I’m sorry,” She said softly. “I didn’t want to stand out there alone, the stares…”
“Alpha” Marcus called out. “The child.”
I turned around to see the boy facing us, he looked fragile and lost. His eyes, unlike the others, looked normal. They were not clouded with blindness.
He walked towards the bar, his small hand reaching out. His attention was mainly on Alexandra. She took a step towards the bar, her eyes locked on the child.
“Don’t,” I quickly said, stepping in front of her. “What are you trying to do? We dont know what’s wrong with them. It’s best we dont go any further.”
“Please Albert,” she said softly. “He’s just a child.”
The small boy was still stretching his hand from the bar. “Alright, not too close.”
She nodded, stepping past me, and moving slowly towards the bar. She got close enough to my dislike. “Stop, that’s enough,” I said as she did as told.

She knelt down to his level. “Hello,” she said gently.
The boy didn’t respond, but he pressed his hands against the bar.

“Where are you from?” She asked, trying to get some response from him. Still the boy remained silent. He looked at both I and Marcus, then back at Alexandra.
She got up, walking in my direction. “Uhmm… can..can you give us a sec….”
“Don’t even think about it.” I interrupted her before she could complete here sentence.
“He’s just a child, he is scared and alone,” she said. “We can’t just leave him there.”
“Alpha, I think that we should consider the possibility that the boy is part of whatever sorcery is affecting the others. He could be dangerous.” Marcus said.
At this point, I was caught between doing the right thing, or the reasonable thing. Alexandra is right, We can’t leave a child in need. So is Marcus, we cant trust the child as well.
I used the mind link to call for two guards, they arrived almost immediately. “Take the kid to one of the rooms in the packhouse and guard it. In no circumstances should any of you leave your position. No one goes in or out without my permission. Am I clear?” I stated and they both nodded their heads.
“Thank you, Albert,” Alexandra said.
“Call my
main line if anything occurs, I’m taking Alexandra home.” I said to Marcus using the mind link.
“Sure thing alpha, but who is she?” He asked
“Your Luna.” with that, I severed the connection.
The drive home was a quiet one, I glanced at Alexandra a couple of times, she hadn’t altered any word since we left the dungeon.
We arrived at my house, I got down to open the passenger door for Alexandra.
“Wow, this place is huge and beautiful, it’s more like a grand estate. Where are we though?”
she asked.
“This is our home,” I said.
I couldn’t help but giggled at her reaction. Her mouth was slightly left open as she stared at the building.

“Wait, this is your house? like you stay here alone?” she asked in disbelief.
“Yes Alexandra, it’s now our Home. And no, I hardly stay here, I mostly stay at the pack house. But now that you are here, we will be staying here.”

I took her hand, feeling the aftermath of our touch, I led her through the cobblestone path, leading to the main entrance. I led her inside, and her amazement only grew.
“Welcome to our home,” I said, watching her reaction with a smile.
“Its beautiful,” She said, still taking in the surrounding.
I chuckled. “I’m glad you like it.
I took her to the guest room, its a few rooms away from mine. I hope you will be comfortable here,” I said. “If you need anything, just let me know, my room is just down the
hall.”
“Thank you, Albert,” She said. “You’ve done so much already for me.”
I warmly smiled. “Get some rest, you must be exhausted. We will talk more in the morning.” 1 pecked her on her forehead and took my leave.
