I stood by the window of my room, my eyes tracing the familiar landscape I had come to love over the past four years. The air felt different, as if the very air was changing like a soon
to occur storm.
The door creaked open, I turned to see Lucas entering the room, his presence usually commanding and filled with warmth, seemed distant and cold. He stood tall, his eyes, those piercing blue eyes that looked at me with intensity, were void of emotions.
“Lucas,” I called out with worry in my voice. “Is everything okay?”
He didn’t answer me immediately, instead he walked over to the couch, he sat down, staring at me. There was an awkward silence, it was heavy and suffocating, until he finally spoke.
“Alexa,” he said, his voice lacking affection, which I’ve grown fond of. “We need to talk.”
I Couldn’t help but wonder what it was about. Even When we had an argument, I could still see his affection, but now it seemed like I was talking to a different person entirely.
“What is it Lucas?” I asked trying to keep my voice steady.
He took a deep breath, his expression undeniably the same.” I want to reject our bond,” he said, with each word coming like a knife through my chest. “I want a divorce.”
For a moment I couldn’t breathe, I was in disbelief, maybe he is joking, that would be a nice one if he was. but the word echoed in my head. Reject our bond?” I repeated to ensure I heard him clearly, hoping it wasn’t real.
He nodded, I could feel my world crumbling. “Lucas why? What have I done to deserve this?”

hardened. “It is not about what you’ve done Alexa, it is about what you can’t do. We have been married for what now, like four years No matter what we do, despite all the healers and remedies, you haven’t been able to bare an heir.”
Tears welled up in my eyes, I couldn’t hold it, they started pouring down my face, how could he be this cruel, he knows what i have been going through. “I have tried Lucas, you know I
have.”
“I know but it’s not enough. The pack needs an heir, a future Alpha, and as long as you are unable to provide that, you are a liability.”

I couldn’t believe he just called me a liability, I clenched my hands into fists at my sides. “A liability?” I whispered.” is that all I am to you? A means to an end?”
Lucas didn’t even flinch. “This is not about you and I, Alexa, it is about the pack. They need stability, and i need a Luna who can give them that.”
“And what have I been doing all These years? Some whisper cruel things about me and you hardly take action recently. Why? Oh wait it is because of this right?”
He kept quiet, he just stared at me. “So what, you’re just going to throw me away? After everything we’ve been through?”
“Yes,” he replied. “A cursed, unshifted wolf can not bear children, it is a fact we can’t ignore.”
“Cursed?” my voice broke. “Is that what you think of me now? I wasn’t cursed to you when you marked me, i wasn’t cursed to you when we got married, and i wasn’t cursed to you when we mated, all of a sudden I am now cursed?”
He looked away, unable to meet my eyes. ” I’ve made my decision. The rejection ceremony will take place in two days’ time, where I’ll choose a new Luna afterwards.
“Hold up Lucas, you will be choosing a new Luna? So soon? All these years I’ve you. did they mean anything to you? Was I just a joke?” He was deadly quiet.

“Who..” before I could alter another word, the door creaked open, and Selena walked in.
I was happy to at least see my sister here, we are not so close nor related by blood, but I’ve never considered her as my step sister.
“Sorry to barge in on your conversation, but i was worried, hope all is well? I could hear your voices from outside” she said calmly, she looked my way and saw traces of tears on my cheek. “Omg Lexi, why are you crying?” She came to embrace me, and i was grateful for that.
“It is nothing serious Selena, I and Lucas were having a little argument, but all will be okay” I stated, trying to reassure not just her, but myself as well.
Lucas’ next words shocked me.” Lena love, come over here,” I looked up in shock, wondering if I heard him clearly.
“Wha…what did you just say?” i stared at both of them wary
Lucas walked up to us, he grabbed Selena by the waist, pulling her to his body, she kept an innocent face like she had no clue what was going on
“She? You are rejecting me to pick my sister as your chosen mate?”

“Lucas,” I said, my voice barely more than a whisper. “Please don’t do this to me, I beg of you. We can find another way.”
But he shook his head, “this is the only way.”
With that, he turned to leave the room with Selena, but stopped half way.” After the rejection. ceremony and divorce, you are free to stay in the pack house, accommodation will be made for you” with that, they left.
I sank to my knees, with uncontrollable tears pouring out from my eyes, as I wrapped my hands around my body, trying to hold the piece of my heart together.
I don’t know how long I’ve been in that position, but my whole body was aching, I could barely think straight.
There was a knock at the door. “Luna, are you in here?”
I raised my head knowing who it was, as I tried to stand up, I tripped and fell to the ground hitting my head on the floor. I heard some voices, but all I could see was darkness.
