“What’s the meaning of this!” Anderson’s face became red from how angry he was.
Anderson had always hated Zoe and her entire family, it’s actually the reason the two couldn’t be together. Zoe had always known that but thought since it had been so long, she could try and win back their hearts but her plan was already a failure before it even began
“What are you doing here, Zoe?” Ethan asked in a calm voice that went straight to Rose’s heart.
Her heart was bleeding and shock was written all over her face, this was the least she expected, and seeing how calm Ethan was made her feel even worse, I guess he’s happy to see her.‘ She thought sadly as she sat back in her chair.
“Good evening, Grandpa and everyone,” Zoe said in a sweet voice turning to answer Ethan, “I came to say hi since I was nearby. Have you forgotten?” She smiled innocently while she walked over to Anderson so she could present her gift but Anderson got even angrier and pushed the gift away from her hands before shouting angrily.
“I already have enough gifts! What do you want? Don’t you know you just disturbed something very important?”
Zoe stumbled back with an exaggerated flinch, “But, I just missed you and wanted to see you. It’s been so long since I saw you and-”
“I don’t need you to check on me neither are you welcome in my house! Leave right away or else I’ll ask my men to throw you out!” Anderson spat.
“Grandpa, that’s a little harsh.” Ethan tried to step in when Anderson glared at him from where he sat.
“Sit back down.”
Upon hearing Ethan step in for her, Zoe took the opportunity and released a flood of tears while gripping her chest as if shattered and broken by the rejection, “All I wanted was to greet you since I was nearby but it seems I’m hated so much that I’ve been chased like an outsider!” Tears fell down her face before
she continued while sobbing.
“I’m Sorry Grandpa and everyone, I shouldn’t have come since my presence has ruined your dinner!”
Rose kept her eyes on Ethan the entire time, she wanted to see what his reaction to Zoe’s presence would be, and seeing him defend her even against his grandfather sent a spear to her heart that left her bleeding.
She pressed her lips into a thin line and watched as Zoe turned to leave when Ethan stood and was about to chase after her when Anderson’s angry voice spoke,
“Don’t you dare! She knows her way out, sit down!”
Georgina took this as an opportunity to shoot down Ethan so he could fall out of favor with his grandfather. She stood and walked over to Rose’s side and gave her a glass of water before saying out loud,
“Oh my, Ethan look at how shocked and hurt Rose is. Haven’t you moved on from your feelings towards Zoe? You need to focus on Rose and take care of her now, she’s the one who you’re married to you know.”

Rose’s face turned a deep red upon hearing those words and she shifted uncomfortably now that all eyes at the table were on her. Anderson noticed how hostile the situation had turned and cleared his throat ignoring Georgina’s comment,
“Never mind that crazy girl my dear. So, you had something you wanted to share with us before you were Interrupted?”
Rose looked up and was confused at first and then it dawned on her,
The pregnancy.
Feeling like her heart was being squeezed by an iron fist, she forced a smile and blinked back the tears. she was holding. “Oh, it wasn’t anything important. I just wanted to share some of the new ideas that we came up with and ask what you think.”
“Oh, anything that involves you is always important. I’d love to hear your ideas, share them with me as soon as you can and I’ll give them my utmost attention!”
“No, problem Grandpa. I’ll tell you all about them.” Rose responded.
Meanwhile, Georgina and Jane were boiling in their hearts at the way Anderson was still protecting Rose. Anger bubbled in Jane’s blood and she wanted nothing but to see Rose out of the picture!
Ethan was quiet the entire time until the dinner was over and they were saying their goodbyes when Anderson pulled Ethan forward, “Treat Rose well, she’s a wonderful woman. I will not tolerate anything less, do you understand?”
“Yes, Grandpa,” Ethan responded and Anderson’s features relaxed once again.

“It was great to see you, visit me again. I want to see you as much as possible!” Anderson hugged Rose and she chuckled.
Her heart swelled with gratitude as she hugged him back, “We will be back sooner than you think. I hope you’ll love the watch I prepared!”
“I already do!” Anderson chuckled.
The ride back home was silent and Rose was lost in her train of thought as soft music played in the background. She had so many thoughts that were running in her mind and each one made her feel even worse than before.
What could have been a dinner celebration turned out to be a very bad night and she just wanted to sleep it off.
It was Ethan’s phone ring tone that pulled her out of her lost thoughts and the ID flashed Zoe, she wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. It felt like this girl was everything that was wrong with her marriage and she kept appearing everywhere!
“Are you not going to answer that?” Rose asked, irritation evident in her voice.
Ethan didn’t want to upset Rose since she was already in a darkened mood so he shook his head,
“No, it can wait.” He said as he cut the line.
Rose’s bubble of hope began to return slowly and she felt like he was finally picking her over Zoe. But her

happiness didn’t last long.
As they reached a red light, a text showed on the screen and Ethan picked up the phone and which made Rose scoff internally,
‘So, he just couldn’t wait to tend to the love of his life?
But the look on his face made her inquire in a worried tone, “Did something happen?” Rose thought something serious had happened to Grandpa or at work but her face turned to Ice when she realized she was wrong.
Ethan turned to her, his face unreadable, and said words that felt like a hard slap on her face,
“Zoe has been in an accident. I need to check on her,” He said as he pulled out some dollars from his wallet and handed them to Rose,
“What?”
“Take a táxi back home, I won’t be able to take you there.”
