Chapter 59~ Hidden Intentions
Ethan arrived home and rushed straight to the living room. He didn’t find Rose, so he rushed back downstairs and found her in the kitchen.
He stopped in his tracks and looked at her. She was so focused on the meal she was preparing that she didn’t hear him enter.
“What’s keeping you so busy?“, His voice spoke, making a scream escape her throat,
“Ahhh!” She looked up and almost dropped the plate, but Ethan was quick on his feet and held her, keeping her steady,
“Careful.” His voice whispered in her ears, making a shiver run down her spine.
She felt hot everywhere on her body as she pulled away from him,
“You’re home? I’ve been worried.” Rose said.

“I was busy with work.” Ethan responded vaguely as he took a seat on a counter.
Rosé sighed. It was always like that with him. He never really told her what he was really doing or what happened. She felt annoyed that she had been so worried about him, and yet he couldn’t even bother to update her about how he or where he was.
“I called Tom, you haven’t been at the office in two days.” Rose said.
“Are you keeping tabs on me?” Ethan looked up from his phone.
“No! I’m just saying-”
“I don’t want to talk about it!” He cut her off.
Rose nodded as she placed the plate of chicken stew in front of him.
She was so anxious as she waited for him. She ended up using the time to cook. I hope the meal will lighten his mood.” She thought. 1
“You shouldn’t overwork yourself. We have so many maids around. Use them.” Ethan said.
Rose smiled, “it’s just one meal, I wasn’t lifting weights!”
“If you say so. We need to go for a scan and make sure the baby is alright before we visit Grandpa and tell him about the news.” Ethan responded.
“Right, I thought we were supposed to go yesterday. What happened?” She asked as she cleaned the table.
“I had work.” Ethan responded coldly as he stood and walked out of the kitchen.
Rose looked at the food and noticed he barely touched it. She couldn’t help but wonder what was troubling him so much. Putting the thought aside, she cleaned the kitchen and rushed upstairs when she
heard him on the phone.
“Zoe, I’m busy right now.

Chapter 59 – Hidden intention
It was silent for a few seconds before his voice spoke again,
“No, also don’t pull something as stupid as you did yesterday! I won’t forgive you next time!” He said coldly.
Rose felt her heart clench.
‘Is that where he was when he left?’ she wondered.
‘Did Zoe do something that made him so angry and put him in such a bad mood? The thoughts came flooding.
Rose felt her stomach twist. She felt a pang of disappointment in her heart. I guess nothing can ever shake his love for Zoe. Not even the fact that I’m pregnant!‘ she thought as she stepped into the room.
Ethan noticed her enter and abruptly cut the call, Rose only scoffed internally at that.
“I forgot one thing.” She began.
“What is it?” Ethan asked.
“We can’t be seen at a hospital together. Our marriage is still a secret, so I’ll go on my own. Then meet you at Grandpa’s house!” Rose said.
“Are you so afraid of being seen with me?” Ethan asked through clenched teeth.
“I like to be cautious!” Rose responded and walked into the bathroom without another word. (1)
She closed the door and turned on the shower before she leaned against it, still fully dressed.
Her knees felt weak, and her heart was in pain. Everything she had kept inside hit her like a tornado, and the hormones weren’t helping.
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she placed her fist into her mouth to stifle the cries.
Rose felt like she was carrying a load that wouldn’t be removed off her shoulders anytime soon. No matter what happened, she would always be second. He would always pick Zoe over her.
She was the one–carrying his child, but he was more affectionate with Zoe than he was to her.
Wiping her tears, she stood and began to remove her clothes.
“Why did you wait so long to tell your husband about the baby? He almost killed me!” Dr. Calvin said as he rubbed the ultrasound gel on her pregnancy.
Rose frowned, “He did? I didn’t know he came to see you.”
Dr. Calvin’s eyes widened when he realized that Rose was in the dark over what happened two days ago. He cleared his throat and smiled, “Oh it’s in the past now!”
Rose laid back down and watched as Dr. Calvin moved the transducer and showed her images of the baby growing inside her.
“That’s strange.” Dr. Calvin mumbled.

Rose panicked as she looked at him, “What’s strange? Did something happen to my child?”
“Oh no!” He chuckled. “Your baby is fine, Mrs. Sinclair. Don’t worry about it. You can come back after two months so I can check on you again.” He said. “But we need your husband to sign a few papers. Did he come along?”
Rose hesitated.
“No, he had uhm, a meeting.” She lied.
“Can you call him? It’s very important.” Dr. Calvin insisted.
Rose nodded as she pulled out her phone and dialed Ethan’s number.
He answered on the third ring, “What do you need?”
Rose had to hold back the tears. He was always straightforward and cold towards her, but warm and patient with Zoe. She hated it, but she craved that part of him, too. Putting the thought aside, she cleared her throat,
“You’re needed at the hospital.”
“You said you didn’t want to be seen with me. Can’t you handle it without me?” He mocked.
“If it were up to me, I wouldn’t even be calling you Ethan.” Rose said coldly.
Her patience was wearing thin and she didn’t know how much longer he’d push her to the edge.
“Fine, give me a minute.” He said and cut the line.
Rose frowned as she looked at the phone. A minute? Was he trying to check his schedule?
Her question was answered when five minutes later, and Ethan walked into Dr. Calvin’s office.
Rose stood, she blinked several times, unable to believe he moved so fast.
“How did you get here so quickly?” She asked.
“What am I needed for?” He asked, ignoring Rose’s question,
Rose looked behind him and saw that Zoe was standing outside the room with her arms crossed like a child protesting and that was when it hit her, he didn’t come so fast because he cared.
It was because he was by his precious Zoe’s side and she happened to fit into his plans.
Rose turned to face Ethan angrily when they heard gunshots!
“Get down!” Ethan’s deep voice shouted as he rushed forward to shield her with his body.
But he wasn’t running towards Rose, he was running outside to protect Zoe!
