Rose looked at Ethan and
wondered if there was something wrong with his head. He avoided being in
public with her for as long as she could remember and now he was talking about going to such a big event side by side?
“So, what will it be?” His deep voice whispered.
“Stop playing games, Ethan.”
“This is not a game. I’m as serious as it gets.”
Rose’s brown eyes searched his gray Ones but was Still confused because he gave nothing away.
Sighing, she finally said. “Fine.”
“Great.” Ethan stood and created some distance between them.
Rose let out a breath she didn’t he was holding. Her heart was beating wildly against her chest
from the contact.
“I’ll ask Tom to get you a dress,” Ethan said as he took a seat back at his table.
“No need, I already used your card to buy one.” Rose stood, a smile tugging at the corner Of her lips before adding,
“I’m still spending. I’ll have to look good after all, so I hope you don’t mind.”
Ethan looked up, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. “If it makes you happy, spend as much as you want.”
“You’ll regret saying that,” Rose responded.
“I doubt you’d make me broke even if you bought the entire city.” Ethan retorted.
Rose scoffed and mumbled, “So Cocky!” Before walking out.
The moment she stepped Out of the office, Angelica was throwing daggers her way with how hot her gazę was.
She wondered who Rose was and what her relationship with Ethan was. ‘Mr. Sinclair hates disturbing him and yet he let her stay for that long?‘ She thought as she remembered how rudely Zoe was dismissed the last time she visited.

At the same time, Natalie had arrived at the shop and looked for Amanda, But was left in shock when she was told Zoe had taken the dress.
“I’m so sorry, but my boss demanded I hand it over to her!” Amanda said apologetically.

The number of people in the shop had now gone down but the remaining faces threw curious glances her
way.
“I’m really sorry,” Amanda said.
“It’s not your fault, but I wouldn’t say the same about your manager so call her for me!” Natalie demanded. Amanda nodded and went to the back and returned with Chloe a few minutes later.
“You asked for me?” She questioned But Natalie had run out of patience.
“How could you sell a dress we chose? Don’t you have any sense of integrity?” Natalie’s voice was filled with disappointment.
“I’m sorry but we wouldn’t want to cross Zoe Smith. Right now, we just want to stay away from trouble. I hope you understand. Besides, the dress had not been paid for, what if you didn’t return To buy it and we lost out on a potential customer?” Chloe Asked. (1
“Zoe doesn’t even have- you know what? Forget it! I’ll get a dress elsewhere!” Natalie scoffed and walked out without another glance.
Feeling frustrated, she called in one of her designer clients who owed her a favor.
“Maggie, long time! I need a favor.”
“I must say, this one looks sooooo much better than the one we got at first!” Natalie said excitedly as she turned Rose around to see how the dress was fitting her.
It was a white beautiful dress that reached her mid–thighs. It wasn’t too tight or too loose, holding her body perfectly well. She paired it with golden Stilettos
“Are You ure?” Rose asked, she felt so nervous at the thought of attending such a huge event for the first
time.
“Girl, you think I’d send you to war looking like my retired aunty? Of course, I’m sure, now sit! I brought a perfect make–up artist to do the magic!”
Rose laughed as she removed the dress and wore a Robe so her hair and makeup could be done.
“You didn’t tell me though, what happened to the other dress?” 1
“I didn’t like it, that’s why I got you something even better!” Natalie said.
Because she didn’t want to ruin her friend’s mood knowing how anxious she already was, Natalie decided to tell her about what Zoe did later.
But it was true, the dress Maggie sold her was ten times better.
The make–up artist was done an hour later and spun Rose around so she could see herself in the mirror and what she saw 1

“Wow, I feel like a whole new person! I love it.” Rose smiled.

At first, she was hesitant when Natalie suggested the makeup, she wanted it to be simple but now that it was done, she was grateful Natalie insisted.
“You look extremely gorgeous! Now, dress up quickly. Ethan Is gonna faint when he sees this! I’m pretty sure he’s going to question his life decisions!” Natalie said.
“Nat!” Rose stared at her friend’s lack of filter.
Downstairs, Ethan was waiting for Rose. His short black hair was styled neatly and he was wearing a black and white suit.
He adjusted his clips when he heard her heels on the stairs.
The frown On his face disappeared the moment he laid eyes on Rose.
He swallowed and his Adam’s apple probed. Words couldn’t form in his mouth as he stared in awe.
Rose’s heart was beating wildly against her chest as she walked downstairs slowly. Ethan rarely showed expressions about how he felt. That was why many thought he had a heart of stone but in that moment, his face showed how surprised he looked and it made Rose wonder if that was a good thing.
Everything around them seemed to be in slow motion and the world outside ceased to exist leaving only the two of them. With each step Rose took, Ethan’s heart was beating in sync as he watched her carefully.
Something tugged in his chest and he couldn’t place a name to it.
When she reached the bottom stairs, Ethan stretched out his hand and took hers. He placed a kiss on her knuckles before he pulled her close and whispered,
“You look very beautiful.”
