Chapter 41~ Unclean
“Please let me go!” Rose cried.
Tears were rolling down her face. It was only when she heard her name being called with a slight shake that she realized it was just a nightmare. Her eyes opened slowly as she sat with fear and trembling written all over her features. Ethan wrapped his arms around her securely until her breathing was calm,
Is that better?” He asked in a soft voice.
Rose only nodded, unable to speak because of how disgusted she felt with herself. She stood without another word and grabbed a towel. She shut the door behind her as she went to shower in the other room. Feeling extremely dirty, she grabbed a body scrub and shower gel making sure the soap was overflowing before she rubbed it on her body.
The image of Blake’s breath and how he smiled as he abused her flashed before her eyes and her tears began to fall. The shower was slightly hot but Rose didn’t care as she sat under it, the water falling over her like a waterfall.
Minutes passed and Ethan noticed that she was nowhere to be found so he decided to check on her. He knocked softly, “Rose? Can I come in?”
Silence.
“I’m coming in!” Ethan said as he opened the door and his eyes widened in shock when his gaze fell on her wrapping her arms around herself and the shower room filled with smoke from the hot water.
“Rose!” He stepped in and was about to touch her when her eyes snapped at him, “Don’t touch me!”
Ethan’s brows furrowed because he didn’t understand, But he was patient as he turned off the water before turning to face her, “You’ve been in here for over ten minutes.”
“I’m still filthy, I need to get clean. Turn on the shower
“Who told
you that?” He knelt in front of her and placed her face into his palms. Her brown eyes stared at him with droplets of water falling from her eyelashes.
“He he touched me, Ethan! He grabbed me and..” Ehan didn’t let her finish the sentence as he placed his lips on hers.
Tears were falling on Rose’s face, so he pulled away and kissed the tears too. He took a towel and wrapped it around her before picking her back and walking to the bedroom, Rose wrapped her hands around his neck and buried her face in his chest.
He smelled so good and it warmed her heart that Ethan was taking care of her.
“Here, wait for me I get your pajamas.” He placed her on the bed.
Soon, he emerged with white silk pajamas. They were her favorite so it made Rose smile, “You took a wild guess?”
“With what?”
“The pajamas, these are my favorite.”

Ethan chuckled, “Yes, I know. That’s why I got them.” He responded.
Rose was stunned. Never in a million years did she think Ethan would know such trivial matters, Her stomach twisted and her heart flipped.
“He may love Zoe, but he’s surely been good to me.‘ She mused as she watched him rub her legs with so much tenderness like she was made of glass. 1
“Are you much better now?” His deep voice pulled her back.
“Yes, I’d like to sleep now.” Rose smiled faintly.
Ethan helped her put on the pajamas and grabbed a hairdryer. He pulled Rose by the wrist and made her sit on the dressing mirror as he grabbed the comb. He began to dry her hair,
“You finally became good at this!” Rose laughed.
But Ethan’s face showed confusion as he halted the process, “What do you
mean?”
Rose realized she had said something she wasn’t supposed to and cleared her throat, “Oh I mean, you don’t look like the type to know how to dry hair.”
1 don’t know how, but it feels like I’ve done it before,” Ethan responded before he resumed his task.
Rose kept quiet after that. Keeping the secret buried deep inside her. If he couldn’t remember those moments, then there was no need to bring them up again.
A few minutes later, He had finished and helped her back into bed. He grabbed a bowl of pasta and blew on the hot steam before looking at her, “I cooked your favorite pasta. Have a bite then you can sleep.”
“Thank you, Ethan.” Rose smiled before adding. “But if you keep doing such nice things for me, you’ll make it hard for me when we divorce.”
Ethan’s mood dropped, and his jaw ticked at those words. ‘So, she still wants to be with Mason? He thought.
Noticing his sudden mood change, Rose asked, “What? Don’t you agree?”
“You seem eager to divorce.”
“It’s inevitable. I’m just preparing myself.” Rose responded.
“Fine, we can divorce towards the end of the year!” Ethan said as he placed the bow of pasta on the side table and stood. “Don’t report for work tomorrow, stay in and rest!” He said and walked out.
Rose felt her heart clench and her world spin. She felt like a knife had been stabbed into her chest. “This is what he wanted right? I’m only setting him free so I don’t drag him down with me. I love him too much to see him tied to me when he’d rather be with someone else!” She mumbled to herself,
Sighing heavily, Rose knew even though she loved Ethan, his heart would never be hers. He told her that the night they got married and it seems he kept his promise.
Don’t let his actions from today fool you.” She said out loud.
No matter how long the divorce took, it wouldn’t hurt any less. No matter what nice things he did for her, his heart would never be hers, and that made Rose’s heart twist in pain.
