“Oh, I see you’ve already met Ethan!” Marie Chirped happily when Rose stepped out with Ethan following her closely.
A few hours had passed and Rose had finally said goodbye. Ethan stayed by her side the entire time.
“Yes, I did,” Rose responded but what Marie sald next stopped her in her tracks.
*I used to worry about you since the marriage was rushed. But seeing Ethan take care of you puts my heart at peace! I mean look at how he cleaned your parent’s gravel”
Rose’s eyes widened as she turned to look at him, “You cleaned the grave for me?”
Ethan gave her a sad smile, “I’m sorry I didn’t do it sooner.”
Rose was shocked, what happened to being Zoe’s lifeline and putting her needs first before anyone else?
If her memory saved her right, she left him at the hospital so she wondered what time he drove here and how did he know about the graveyard
“How did you know where I was?”
“When I got home you were not there and Natalie had not seen you either. So I assumed you were visiting your Aunt and I called her.” Ethan said.
But the more he spoke the less sense he made.
Sighing, Rose began to walk again, “Thank you for what you did, I’ll pay you back” Rose Whispered so Marie wouldn’t hear her.
“Hurry you two! Let’s have lunch at my favorite restaurant.” Marie shouted from Where she stood.
“Coming!” Rose responded before turning to Ethan and stopping him for a second,
“Look, I don’t know why you’re doing this but you don’t Have to.”
“Why not?”
“I’m sure you have better things to do and Zoe is probably waiting for you! Last time I checked, she was screaming about ending her life.” Rose pointed out.
Ethan stepped forward and closed the gap between them a smirk spreading on his face,
“Rose Cooper Sinclair,” Ethan teased before he laughed. “Is my wife Jealous?”
“No! And I’m not your wife, we are divorcing soon or have you forgotten?“,
“I don’t know what you’re talking about! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have my Aunt inlaw to Please!” He walked around her and walked towards the Car.
“What’s wrong with this man!” Rose groaned as she followed him behind.
Soon, they reached the restaurant But it was nothing compared to what Ethan was used to and Rose was worried but he didn’t look bothered at all,
“Pumpkin!” Jonathan waved.

Chapter 31–A pila
Rose’s eyes lit up and rushed to where her uncle stood and hugged him, “Uncle J! I thought you wouldn’t
make it!”
“I had to crush ‘em faster so I could see my favorite little girl!” Jonathan ruffled Rose’s hair.
Jonathan was Mairie’s husband and a soldier. He was often out for missions so Rose thought he wouldn’t make it. But he managed to get a few days off so he could spend it with his family. When he called Marie, her heart was swelling with joy but she didn’t want to ruin the surprise. Jonathan loved her so much and she always hoped Rose would be loved the same way if not better,
Seeing the exchange and Ethan shifting uncomfortably, Marie pushed him forward. “Honey, have you seen our handsome son–in–law? He treats Rose so well so you better be nice!”
Ethan blushed as he stretched out his hand, “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Sir,”
“Mmmmm,” Jonathan held his chin as if scrutinizing him.
During the wedding, he was out for another mission and because it all happened too fast, he couldn’t get permission on time, so this was when they were officially meeting!
“Even chocolate pleases you! I’ll find out for myself! For now, I’ll observe him!” Jonathan shook his hand, I’ll break your bones if you make my little flower cry!”
‘T’ll do my best to keep her happy sir,” Ethan said.
Rose felt uncomfortable and laughed nervously, “I think that’s enough! Uncle J let’s sit and eat
“You see! She’s even defending her husband! Oh my goodness I love to see such young birds in love!” Marie shed fake tears before sitting down.
Soon, they ordered in and began to eat and chat in light conversations as they ate. It felt good, to be together again. Ethan preferred this lunch over his own family. With Rose’s family, he didn’t need to try so hard to build a shield, they made it as comfortable as possible and he felt at ease.
It was a few hours later that Rose finally stood, “I think we need to go back home so Uncle J can rest!”
“I’m not as old as you think I am, but you are right let us go back home and say a prayer for your lovely parents!”
Everyone agreed and soon they were in the car. Rose was about to sit in 1.ont with her uncle when Marie blocked her, “Unless Ethan is driving, you better sit at the back!”
Before Rose could protest, Marie was already shoving her into the back seat. Ethan joined her and soon they were on the road. The trip was short and the air was light, a few jokes were said here and there and Marie kept on shooting questions at the couple.
“Who is that sitting on the porch?” Jonathan asked as they turned into the yard.
Rose looked in the direction of where Jonathan was pointing and was shocked. There was no way she could miss those Asian eyes and that skin,
“Isn’t that little Mason?” Marie asked no one in particular as she stepped out before adding, “He’s all grown and handsome too!”
Meanwhile, Ethan’s jaw ticked and his hands balled into fists, he glared in the direction of Mason. “What

Rose opened the door and quickly rushed to Mason’s side making Ethan’s chest stuff uncomfortably at
the sight.
